Breaking A Sweat... and other things in Papineau Labelle

  • Frédéric on his Honda CRF250 Rally, Ivan on his KTM690 Rally and Riley on his Husqvarna 701 Enduro headed out to a park a few hours from Montreal call Papineau Labelle. W e decided to trailer the bikes as it was going to be a hot and humid day and a nice air conditioned ride home would be nice after a dusty day on the trails. Ivan had created a GPS route using his collection of collected tracks as well as some abandoned roads he found on some old school paper maps. It started with some great riding, washed out bridges, rocky climbs and lots of bushwhacking through overgrown routes. then it all went sideways.

at 8:56/9:10, "[the GoPro] is not doing this hill justice ..." Perfect timing for the reminder! I was thinking of how I'd have just powered up that baby head ridge, and likely discovered the sudden lack of ground below me as I overshot the trail. 'Cause I hadn't been thinking 'climbing going on here' ... or for that matter, consequences in general! Yep, it became a seriously hard climb - good skill set there fellas! That section is above my pay-grade now ... 13:49, how I love finding a route! ("there has to be a way?")... why did you not splint the arm before riding out? Such calm and teamwork. It's so obvious that you all trust each other immensely. You're still the best! Most original, most down to Earth, totally Canadian!

Now that was an adventure! Glad the arm healed up just fine. Where did you enter and exit the park? I've been in there a few times on my 1150GS and Super Enduro but didn't try anything as rough as you guys did. I even took my RT in there last year on Chemin Des Lacs from Duhamel and headed down Route 3, gave up after a few kilometers though and turned around.

Fred Trail was not that rough as it was once a road. Just the few obstacles. Ivan is the GPS master so I have no idea where we really were. Hopefully he will chime in.

We entered from the south on R03 and then onto R02-R25 and zig-zagged in the middle of the park. When we exited from Fred's trail we were back on to R03 and booted south to get back to the truck.

Nice to see new AP content. How can a chain be tight in "just one spot"?

I think they mean one spot of suspension travel

    • @AwesomePlayers

No I actually mean in one spot. I have seen it a few times. You check the chain tension and it seems fine. You rotate the wheel a few turns and it is super tight. Some directions actually say to check in the tightest spot. It starts to happen I think when then chain is getting worn.

@@AwesomePlayers Huh. I never heard that nor ever seen it nor ever read it in a manual. I can't even visualize the mechanism. Some bizarre kink? Well, whatever. Ride on, you crazy diamond. lol

@@f18a One of those things that is easier to check on a bike with a centre stand for sure. I keep my chains on the loose side not a big issue for me. Pretty common. www.motorcycleforum.com/threads/chain-tight-spot.87133/
