I'm guessing all of the spheres are the points where it measured (with interpeting done for the rest of the shape), so for geometric shapes, probably not that long.
Not too long, you can manually set a shape first, then you tell it how many dots for the 3D area, and the software helps you map it out. That process takes a couple minutes.
