    Hey guys, I haven't been to Bali (Ubud) for a long time now. I'm sure a lot has changed and many new restaurants have popped up and some closed down. Please share your personal favourites in the comments!😊

    A new place which I’ve become actually obsessed with is Pizza Cult in Ubud. Amazing food, great service, such a cute venue and really affordable. Also a great place to bring your laptop and work from.

    I was in Ubud for a whole week and didn't go to any of these places. You could be in Ubud for a year and not eat at the same place twice. The sheer variety of places is staggering.
    For me the best place I went to was Batubara, an Argentine Steak house. Its truly an incredible place and might be the best steak I've ever had (and I live in London). The rest of the menu is also great, as everything is cooked to perfection and the service is fantastic. The owner in particular is a charming man who takes the time to make sure everyone is ok.
    You'll know that this place is great by the number of people there St any given time. It's always busy but the vibe is chilled and not hectic.
    As you can tell I love this place, I never eat twice in a given restaurant when on holiday. But I ate at Batubara three times with my wife. We will go back to Ubud just for this place.

      Hey! Not really..........Ibu is my partner (I'm the boyfriend from London) and when I'm there I live at her house and eat at the warung. I usually only eat elsewhere when I'm craving non Balinese food and for that I'll go to "Mangga Madu". I really prefer local spots though, some of my best meals have been had on the street, but it helps to have a local talk and explain for you. There really is 2 Bali's, the side they share with us and the side they don't.

    Pachamama is Quechua the language of Incas from Peru not Mexico

    • @EileensKitchenStories
      @EileensKitchenStories  Рік тому

      Although this might be true, that doesn't take away the fact that the owner (who is Mexican) claimed it to be a Mexican restaurant but they of course have Peruvian influences like their Ceviche dishes. 😊

    Mudra cafe has no water to drink they don't allow you to smoke and you have to remove your shoes and walk on the dirty floor

    • @EileensKitchenStories
      @EileensKitchenStories  5 років тому

      Hi Christos, Many thanks for your comment. 🙂 It's actually very common in Bali (Ubud) to remove your shoes when entering a house/restaurant unless you are in the touristy south of the island. I was also asked to take off my shoes when visiting Balinesian friends :-) I'm sure they provide water (I drank it many times) but maybe they stopped offering it for free - just ask them. And yes, they may not allow you to smoke which again is very typical in Ubud and I prefer that - especially because it's a small place (like many others) and not a bar so you might feel molested to smell smoke while eating. So thanks for summing this up. What was your favourite place so far in Ubud? Maybe you found a place that ticks all your boxes and you would like to share. 🙂

      @@EileensKitchenStories I asked them for water and their answer was negative. We have juice they said. Anyway the bowl was fantastic

      No smoking in a restaurant? Sounds great. A minority of people still smoke anyway and the rest of us aren’t too fond of getting cancer from secondary smoke 🚬
