  • This table is a totally new design for me using only 3 connection and steam bent oak for legs which can be removed for shipping the yew slab was cut down in 1940
    Using 50mm Glasscast - which is a new deep pour Epoxy makes build up time much quicker and is super clear, this is a brand new product from Easycomposites

    This table arrived well packaged and on time. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

    A table like that should sell for several thousand dollars, but most people compare it to the cheap factory junk that you can buy at Ikea for a fraction of the price. Anyway, I hope you got a fair price for it. Your work is beautiful!

    Well done. This is one of the nicest live edge and epoxy tables I've seen, simply because you seem to have a good knowledge of colour and the care and foresight needed to properly combine mechanical lines with natural ones.
    I suspect either you're very well read in the field or there's a formal design education there. If not, you truly have an incredible gift. Many thanks for the video, it was a pleasure to watch.

      Thank you so much for your kind words . What a lovely start to Sunday :) also for taking the time to comment.. I am self taught but have always been into design and architecture . Resin has opened new possibilities for me working with very figured "character "wood which I have alway loved but the style had become a bit chunky and rustic for my taste resin has really given it the modern kick it needed..

  • @jamese9283
    @jamese9283 6 років тому +4

    Very attractive, but your structural mounting seems very weak...from 3 points at the ends of a long piece of fractured wood, and all the weight is shearing on your domino pegs and not notched into or over the long axis of the legs. The legs were also a tight fit into the cutouts, which will tend to split the yew grain at that point. Mainly a decorative table, but any amount of weight on it would likely cause damage, like someone carelessly sitting on it at a party.

    • @ManorWood
      @ManorWood  6 років тому +6

      It’s a one off , for display really with epoxy added at the leg to top connection you could jump up and down on it and it would break . But I am using it to show what’s possible and only need a small Allen key to break it down it working very well for me creating a lot of interest at shows etc.. the 3 corners are stabilised with resin so will not give way

I have a 8 ft section of tree one side flat one side burned out my Dad had and he has been gone 30 years this year, live edges and I want to do something with it, maybe a shelf and another piece as a coffee table. • @ManorWood
      @ManorWood  6 років тому +1

      Cool. thanks for you support .. sounds like you have a cool project. I would say give the edge a really clean as when you pour the resin small bits may come out of the burned edges and then be frozen in the resin for ever :( .. one trip is paint the resin on with a brush on all edge and around the edges before the big pour. let it almost set or if fully set you just need to key it with a find grit.

    I did my first epoxy table using glass cast 10 with good results, just about to do another now this glass cast50 has come out. What are you brushing on the edges at 00:56? Is this to "prime" the edges prior to the pour?

      I must agree with you also. The 2 woods did not flow together. He was obviously gifted with machinery but no vision.

    The legs/base is unattractive and detracts from the finished piece. Something sculptural would be more appropriate. The two parts are are fighting each other visually.

    Wow what talented craftsman you are. I have seen lots of these being made a lot simpler than this. They look fab but your craftsmanship is i a league of its own. Stunning, thanks for sharing
