I love these more "down to earth" project studios. Obviously it's cool to see the insanely opulent places where every piece of gear is out of most people's dream range, but this type of studio is almost MORE inspiring. Music can be made with so little nowadays, other than talent. It's all about willpower and creativity.

TOOOTALLY agree!! This feels out of reach to me right now, but I feel like from a 5-10 year perspective I could work and get closer. I saw a video earlier today where someone spent 2 years with an architect designing a live room and yep that's definitely not in the cards for me haha

Absolutely. I also agree. Gives us ideas too for our own studio setups.

    Love this Popyland set up.
If you grew up in the Midwest, everyone had a band house with basements.
Kegger rent parties, drummer bedroom next to the water heater.
Smelled like stale beer, weed and Nag Champa.
    Tascam,space echo,midiverb,SM57's.....and the house bong.HeyHoLetsGo!

Pavement is so underappreciated. Seen them a few times in the 90's & they always kicked ass.

Nate is a sweetheart and a super talented dude. I was lucky enough to cross paths with him in Seattle, where we grabbed a meal in 2019. Wouldn't trade that memory for anything!

Jeepers. So, how many recording studios are in the greater Nashville area? 3000?

That's a great space. If you're digging the Marshall Origin 50 (I love my Studio JTM 20), maybe also check out the Wangs 1987 50W hand-wired Plexi (also EL34s). Amps that are honestly Made in China by mom and pop builders for about £700 new. And they are better & higher-powered than some of the amps that pass off as being made by global corps that use old British amp brands, but just crank out their amps carelesslessly in huge factories in China. Another sleeper amp is the British made Orange Rocker 30. In the UK, you can still get these loud 30W British made EL34 amps for about £650 on the second-hand market. And they're ace.
