- 2 years ago I featured my mother-in-law's plants including her Totem Pole Cactus. Here I am revisiting her yard and I was surprised at the growth that she achieves on her cactus.

Very interesting, but it makes sense that you could get away with regular potting mix in Las Vegas because it's already a desert climate. Should be a really interesting experiment though to compare growth!
I also lol'd at the "don't bring your dirty shoes in my house" bit 😂
Pachycereus schottii var. monstrosus
Thanks Anna and your dear mother in law for this great video very informative! Take care! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great week.
Wow!!! Those are so big , fat and healthy!!! Don't have any of these in the greenhouse. When I was living in so California, these were very expensive back in the 1980s!!! You guys are very lucky to have them!!! She has done a great job growing these!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌷🌴🌸🌿🌻🍀🌾💐🌱🌳🌹🪴😃👍
Wow that's a lot of growth for 2 years. Are you sure she's not feeding it a super strength fertiliser? 😅 Thank you for sharing with us, Ana. Have a lovely day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜☕
lol! She does not use any chemical fertilizer. But she sometimes throws her scrap vegetables randomly in her backyard. When the dill plants die during our summertime, they just naturally decompose in the soil. I guess that is some form of fertilizer. 😊
Lovely cacti! I would love to see my aloe vera get half the size of your mother-in-law's. Hers look amazing.
Maybe one day! I am wishing the same thing for my aloe vera. 😉
Thanks anna lovely and a big ❤ to your mother in law she definitely has the back for growing totem pole. Iam here wishing I was near her to get one of those it's a wish list plant for me, but I never see them here in the Caribbean where I live.
I enjoy mine as well in the Phoenix metro
Those big fat totem been on my wishlist... they only sell tiny 4" pot size here in the Philippines. Normally, 7"tall 3" thick. Your mother-in-law grows them really well.
They should grow pretty fast with your climate there in the Philippines. Just make sure they are in a well draining soil. You have growing season all year round. 😊
Wow they are so beautiful. Your mother in law has the magic touch. I hope to find one here one day.
Good morning to you vary nice cactus thanks to your mother-in-law amazing person
Thank you for sharing with us this amazing video Ana! Have a beautiful new week! 🌺🌺🌺
Thank you! You too have a great week and thank you for visiting.
So nice to meet the family. Thanks for the video
They like shade, and they like being next to the block wall
what wonderful specimens! I don't understand if this plant should be watered rarely or often...how did your mother-in-law's totem pole cactus grow so quickly?😮😊
In our climate here in the desert, it needs to be watered more often. She does not water often but her soil retains moisture than the typical cactus soil mix. 🙂🌵
Your mother in law has the same ability as me to propagate cactus. But in my case, in Dallas Texas, I grow Opuntia. I have SO MANY Opuntias. Instarted out with 3 pads, and in 3 years it turned into over 60 individual plants. I got some from the park, some from my neighborhood. And dozens of propagations from the ones that were growing in my yard when I moved to my house
You are the “master” of Opuntias. 😊 You can give them out too for friends. 🌵🌵🌵
She’s got the perfect growing conditions. Will she sell them? I hear they’re super slow growers. Thank you for sharing
No, she doesn’t sell them. She just enjoys growing them
👍🏼 to your MIL!! Totems are among my favorite cactus.
I have the same situation with my friend - we bought our totems at the same time, but hers have grown to be huge. Mine is about 2 feet tall. I planted mine in a pot and instead of growing tall, it’s sprouting quite a few arms.
Thanks for this great information - I’m repotting mine and will add richer soil.
That is awesome! At least yours are growing arms that you can propagate. Mine grows so slow and has developed zero arms. Lol 😆
hello maam i have a question how can u make ur cactus bloom what did u do i mean?❤❤thank u i am ur silent subscriber in my old accnt..i am always amaze everytime i saw ur cactus blooming so beautiful..
You can check out my video on “How to Make your Cactus Bloom. 😉 Thanks!
Another great video Anna, thumbs up to you and your mother-in-law!!!
Glad you enjoyed it 🌵☕️
The face your mother-in-law mentions looks like groot lol awesome
Oh yeah! Lol! 😆 I wish my Totem pole grows lots of arms like hers does.
That’s what I was thinking too!! 😂
Happy New Year! Thankyou for all your efforts.
Happy new year and thank you!
I love this cactus so unique and just so funny. 😂❤❤Freddy.
😉🌵🤣
jak się nazywa ten kaktus?
Cheers! Very nice seeing totem pole cacti. Like to see a follow up on how fast new one grows .
I am crossing my fingers that the new one will grow faster than my first Totem Pole cactus in the ground. 😉🌵
Hmm, with the Dill growing all around the plant I wonder if Mother in Law secretly planted the remains of a fish dinner underneath hers? If I'm planting a tree I like to plant something tasty for it underneath 😁😁 With the crack in the wall behind, rake out the pointing and put some Helifix spiral bar in the gaps across the cracks before pointing it back in. It should stop the whole thing falling apart for a while 🙂🌵🌵
Just out of interest does your mother in law get flowers on her totem pole cacti?
Yes. They are not as interesting as the plant itself. The flowers are small and brownish yellow in color.
She's grown well in two years. Top job , she looks great!
Hermoso cactus
Thanks Ana
Have a happy new year 🎉
The cactus are so nice !😊
Happy new year!
😊
So pretty… I hope I can find one at Star nursery.
I never saw this at Star Nursery but Home Depot once had them. Small rooted cuttings. Maybe this year Home Depot sells them again.
Your MIL is magic with those totem pole cactus! They are amazing looking, so healthy and plump!
I know! I wish I learn how to do that “magic”too. 😊
❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎
There is a simple answer concerning the Totem Pole growth. She has a well trained security guard for protection. You probably thought it was just a turtle,
lol! You noticed the turtle! Honestly, I didn’t see the turtle until I watched the video. lol. 😂
