    I am 20 years old and I am Japanese.
    I still have ringing in my ears because I saw a live performance in front of the speakers of a small live music club I went to six months ago.
    I don't hear it during the day, but at night, before I go to bed, it's like hell.
    I've been afraid to wear earphones since that day.
    Please be careful.

      My ringing is fairly soft but I've heard from some people that putting on headphones and listening to pink noise or red noise while going to sleep can help them. May be worth trying? There are plenty of videos on UA-cam with hours of the stuff.

    Tinnitus is no joke. I have it mildly from playing electric guitar and working in noisy factories. I heard of someone committing suicide because they couldn’t stand it any longer.

      Hi. I also play the guitar. Has it affected your tinnitus,? Do u still play? I ve had it for a few months now and it has severely affected my life and sound experience. Do u drink any alcohol BTW? I ve been told not to because it will make it worse but l am dying for a drink and wonder how it might affect tinnitus..

      @@anda6963 - yes I still play guitar just not too loud. You gradually get used to tinnitus so that you forget about it and don’t focus on it. It’s best if there is some background noise then you don’t focus on it. Try having a little fan running in the bedroom so it’s sound stops you focusing on your tinnitus 👍

      @@anda6963 took me some 3 years to become completely familiar with the ongoing noise. A gigantic idiot threw a huge cracker next to my head, on a firefighter training.
      There's a weird correlation with intake of sugar. I eat quite healthy and hardly any sweets. After a month or so if I happens to eat something sweet, I suddenly realise noises are back.
      Read about other people experiencing the same thing.
      Simply accept the crap is my best advice.

      @@anda6963 Hey, you are still early in it. There are still chances for it to faint, usually it’s in the first 2 years but there is no consistency with tinnitus, it could remain the same or diminish over the years, but:
      -Try to not get that flight or fight reaction when you hear it, easier said than done I know
      -If you want to cover it with ambiant sound at home, do not completely cover it, be it just loud enough for you to distract your attention from the sound
      -Protect your ears from from loud sound exposure
      -Alcohol won’t make it worse, if it does it will be temporary (some people have their sound quieter when drinking, some louder)
      -Spikes happens, it doesn’t mean it’s your new baseline as it can takes months to subside
      -Remember that you are not alone! A lot of people suffers from it and it’s more common than we think.
      And if you only hear it in quiet rooms, consider yourself lucky !
      My dad has it, he’s hearing it constantly, even over ambiant sounds and he’s one of the most happy and ongoing person I know.
      It can go away but habituation is the more realistic thing to expect

    I never heard about Tinnitus until it happened to me. First time i noticed it i thought my air conditioner had a problem because i heard this high pitched sound on top of the actual motor sound. But in the morning i turned off the aircon and the sound didn't stop. Its kind of like when you go to a club and drink and listen to loud music all night. And then you get in bed and your ears are ringing. But the Tinitus is 24 hours a day and never stops. Sometimes you want to blow your head off so you can have 100% quiet for a few minutes. It can make you crazy. I keep hoping it will cure or heal itself. Personally i don't think i got my tinnitus from loud music. I think i got it from stress

    I've had it 15 years. When you're in the jungle and you fear the lion just around the next tree your senses become hypersensitive. Your sense of sight, smell, touch, and yes hearing too. Snapping a small twig sounds like a gunshot. It's nature's way of protecting yourself. That's good in the jungle but bad when you're in a quiet bedroom trying to fall asleep and getting more and more stressed as the tinnitus volume dials up. Solution! Accept it, don't fear it and it will quiet down. It took me 5 years to figure that out. My ears are ringing right now as they always do but I rarely notice it anymore. Just occasionally like when I clicked on this video.

    Real tinnitus does not get cured, it gets managed. And emotional stress, depression , and the common cold all can temporarily worsen one’s tinnitus.. Don’t give up on life- tinnitus gets to feel more tolerable the longer you’ve had to live with it. Not sure if that’s just adaptation or actual improvement- doesn’t much matter which, though. Good luck.🍀

      It depends, sometimes it vanishes after many years. Even though it’s pretty rare. It also depends on the cause of the tinnitus.

      The first time I had it was when I returned from overseas and had a messed up sleep cycle for weeks. Then one day I woke up and there was this loud ringing/buzzing. At that time I didn't know anything about tinnitus, so I thought it was no big deal, just a sign of my sleep deprivation. Never even googled for it. So after my sleep cycle became normal after a month or so...it gradually diminished and then completely disappeared. It happened another time a few years later but it went away as well, and always due to my sleep quality.
      Fast forward 12-15 years till now, I had a messed up sleep cycle once again, due to a construction directly beside my house(I sleep during the day), and the tinnitus returned. I read all about tinnitus online and in forums, and I really panicked. Never knew it was such a serious thing. If you ask me, I shouldn't have read what everyone is saying about tinnitus. Now I'm so stressed up and depressed, it has made my sleep problems much much worse. It's been nearly a month since I had a single 8 hours normal sleep. The ringing/buzzing and sometimes low radio tones are still there.

    I have been living with fairly severe tinnitus for little over a year now. Loud music through headphones, and exhaust from a leaky old VW Beetle that got trapped in my head because of the congestion of a cold i was battling at the time. Scared the hell out of me when i woke up at 3 am the next day with my head ringing like a siren. If anyone who is just now experiencing tinnitus, don't panic, you WILL be ok. You WILL get to a point of strength, and you WILL move on with your life just fine. Get some high fidelity ear plugs when you go outside, it helps lower the intensity of the noise around you while still allowing you to here everything. Over time, my condition has gotten a little better, but it never goes away completely, i live with it 24/7. My ringing actually shifts position in a way, from the edge of my ears and loud (bad days) to a more central area in my head and quiet (good days). I found an app that helped me identify the frequency of my ringing, right about 10 kHz. If i don't eat right, i pay the price. If i keep my sodium levels down, drink plenty of water, stay away from caffeine and limit certain foods (for me, it seems to be bananas, tomatoes, avacado, processed meats), my ringing gets almost to a point where i barely notice it (try and do a water only fast if you can for a day and see if it helps). Had some pizza and red bull yesterday though, and i'm ringin like a church bell right now (no big deal, not afraid of it anymore). Back to a nice relaxing day of water for me. It's a little different for everyone, so you need to do a lot of research and try different things. Nowadays, i consider living with this condition a strength instead of a weakness. Hang in there, your gonna be ok. Most importantly, don't let it scare you :)

    I have severe tinnitus in my ears for 41 years due to exposure to a very loud noise. The first 26 years the noise was low level, not too bad, and I wasn't aware of it until I went to bed at night and it was silent. Then I heard the electronic tones in my ears (the left ear far worse than the right ear.) Then in 2003 one day for no reason the volume of the noise in my left ear suddenly shot WAY up and has never went back down. Now it is so loud that I hear the tinnitus noise above everything else, all the time. Even above the TV and music being played. Exposure to loud noises makes it temporarily get louder too. But, here's the good thing: Quite by accident I discovered that the drug Butalbital, in the right dosage, blocks the noise and it goes away. But when the drug wears off the tinnitus immediately comes back. This is the only drug I've ever found that relieves tinnitus but it is prescribed for severe headaches. Butalbital also makes my vertigo go away. Both vertigo and tinnitus originate in the inner ear and send unwanted signals to the brain. All I know is, this drug works for me but I can't take it very often so most of the time I have to suffer.

When trying to fall asleep I imagine it is crickets chirping, and that helps keep me from getting frantic over it. An audiologist tested me four years ago while we were checking on my Meniere's (a whole other story) and to my amazement he said I was still hearing 93% as well as when I was fifteen! You can get a device that you can out in your ear that gets rid of the tinnitus whilst its in your ear. A small hearing aid, barely visible to other people. I got one prescribed through my local doctor, and did not have to pay (live in england so the N.H.S pays for it). Whilst its in the ear the tinnitus disappears which gives you a break from it. You completely forget about it whilst its in and it allows you to concentrate on your life again. That, combined with living a healthy life really helps. If you live in America then I am sure they must have a similar device, but maybe you have to pay for it as I don't really know what the healthcare situation is over there. There are solutions out there that really help manage the tinnitus. The hearing specialist says that its caused by mild deafness. I only wear mine at home and in the evenings when its quiet and its really helped. Go to your local GP and see if you can get the ball rolling!

    I have read that psilocybin can cure tinnitus in some cases. It would be great if there could be scientific study of this to see what extent it might be true and what protocol would work for people. It makes sense that psilocybin could work as it works with neurological path ways. Even if it worked only for a small number of people , what great news for THOSE people.

    I myself have Tinnitus but in combination with Hyperacusis. My tinnitus fortunately comes and goes and I don't get very much ringing in my ears but rather a constant high pitch hiss sound. Much like "white noise" if you know what that is. The Hyperacusis is not near as common but much worse a condition. It is something that certain frequencies of sound from any object that makes noise, music and even just everyday sounds like traffic and even conversation with someone who may pronounce their "s" and "t" sounds more abundantly than others will cause terrible sensitivity to my ears to the point where my ears feel like the are on fire. A very painful "hot sensation". It also fortunately comes and goes. As I write this comment, I have the constant "hiss" sound in my right ear. It does get better when you exercise. IDK why that is. Maybe the oxygen levels are better and things are circulating around in my body. Right now it's not too bad , but always however faint the "hiss" may be, it's always there. I recommend exercise daily and plenty of water in your diet. That's what knocks my tinnitus down a few notches when it starts to get over bearing. Good Luck!!

      Bei mir auch eine Seite hochfrequentes Zischen, andere Seite Brummen und pulssynchrones Rauschen. Nachts besonders bei vielen Wachphasen. Man kann es einen Menschen ohne Tinnitus nicht verdeutlichen wie furchtbar es sein kann. Vor allem hat man ständig Angst, dass es schlimmer wird, so wie es andere erfahren haben. Das Leben ist ein anderes geworden.
      Sport lenkt mich ab und ich konzentriere mich nicht so sehr auf den Tinnitus. Wir Betroffenen haben uns da eine große Sch… an Land gezogen und die Wissenschaft kann uns nicht helfen. Die Sinneshärchen im Innenohr müssten sich regenerieren lassen, nachwachsen, vielleicht eines Tages über Gentechnik oder Stammzellen, irgendwann wann in 100 Jahren???😮.

    I started with the ringing, kinda like the sound an old tv made when it's on, then I got vertigo...bad. Now I'm completely deaf in my left ear, no vertigo...but the ringing persists. I just cope. Dramamine seems to work a bit sometimes, but I've just learned to live with it. I do an exercise...sitting down, I told my head down and I put my hands behind my head with my fingers just behind my ears and snap my two fingers simultaneously against my head for fifty reps. Loosens the crystals and the ringing subsides for a while anyway. Hope that could help some poor soul with the ringing.

    Tinnitus is often caused by sinus problems.

      @Shred_The_Weapon 5 років тому +2

      My own sinuses have always been problematic. I have played loud music (at last periodically) since I started in the 90s, but I wouldn’t be surprised to know if the ringing I do occasionally here had more to do with my sinuses than too much noise.

    • @karmafrog1
      @karmafrog1 5 років тому +2

      @@Shred_The_Weapon - American doctors will always tell you it's from hearing damage and incurable, because that's what they're taught themselves. It's not true; while that's one cause, tinnitus is a symptom that can have many other causes. If you're a musician, they'll definitely tell you that you blew your ears out and that there's no help for you. Happened to me; turned out I had a chronic sinus infection that went untreated properly for years because of this.
      Sinuses get clogged and the thick drainage runs into the ears via the eustachian tubes, creating all manner of problems, including tinnitus. If you try to run down your sinus issues you may well find your tinnitus improves (mine did). Nasal rinses, decongestants, experimenting with head posture can all help. Good luck!

    • @zimtub
      @zimtub 5 років тому +1

      karmafrog1 I have sinus problems and recently developed tinnitus a few weeks ago. But I’ve had the sinus problems for at least two years, so you think it still could’ve been the cause?

    • @karmafrog1
      @karmafrog1 5 років тому +2

      @@zimtub - I don't see why not.
      I had sinus problems all my life, developed tinnitus at age 39. Even though I'm a musician, it doesn't correlate at all to noise exposure. It's actually usually a bit better after a gig. It does correlate pretty directly to congestion in my nose and throat.
      I know there's mucous buildup in the back of my throat and that mucous and saliva get backed up into my ear, and that the T seems to make sounds based on whatever's going on back there (e.g. it actually makes a waterfall noise when the mucous is moving). My theory is that the dried up mucous going up the eustachian tube acts like a conductive microphone, and the T is actually the amplification of tiny sounds off the surface of the dried mucous going up into the ear through the tube. Sounds wacky, but that's what fits, and the physics makes sense to me.

    We music lovers have no concept of the devastating loss of hearing that many musicians, especially, from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's have when the technology was not as exact in protecting from hearing loss. My late uncle was a working musician and toward the end of his life had hearing loss. What happened to Pete Townsend is not uncommon and many rockers standing in front of amps suffered the same fate.
