Another week of nothing I’m backing. So, that means I get three games next week now. Can’t wait for next Monday for you to convince me to buy all the things!
Dinogenics is one of my most played games, it's fantastic, and all the changes they are making sounds even better. It is definitely not a cheap one, but for us it has been well worth it. Maybe I'll bring it to Niagara board game weekend in January if you're interested in making some anklyos😎
Chris: "This video might run long." {20 minute rant about pickleball} FYI Button Shy has announced an upcoming Circle The Wagons box (not wallet) that will contain all the cards (except 1 promo card), so that might be something to look for at retail in 2025.
Story of Many has a lot of minis but they get used in encounters where it's just a couple squares where everyone lines up and then gets rolled down. Positioning is shrug, main action is dividing numbers. The game seems to mostly be stuff on top of stuff. I find the combat extremely unconvincing. No wonder the rulebook is hidden away :P They did have an update about their combat before the campaign, and it wasn't that popular even among fans.
I'm backing Fate of Witches. I find that I'm mostly supporting small creators, and I love the morbid vibe and the art style for this one a lot. I was originally interested in Story of Many, but talked myself out of it because I have a large campaign game backlog. Also I'm suspicious of games that are offering massive worlds because they nearly always come back to crowd funding for an upgraded and fixed version 2. By the time it comes around again, maybe then I'll have finished some of my backlog. 😂 Also, thank you for continuing to point out the $1 prepurchase nonsense.
Another good video! While I normally agree on Garphill games, in this kickstarter they have dry erase boards for both the anarchy and hadrians wall so they got me this time.
Is it me or there aren't that much interesting games on crowdfunding lately? I know it is very subjective but I feel like spring was much more interesting. than the last four months. Which is great! I'm less tempted to spend money on games that i later play just a few times at best.

I backed skara brae and anarchy because I want to support Garphill (my favorite publisher). I would rather pay extra and have more of it go to them than save money but have it go somewhere else. I’ve got all the ancient anthology series games so far, and will probably get any future ones that come. This is my overall favorite line of games / styles in the industry. Plus, these both look very solo friendly!
@@Jacky750s ah dang, usually I check that one, guess I just limited it to the updates this time. It boggles my mind that so many campaigns have the information and don't put that in their main campaign page

Chris! You've got to try DC Deck Building: Justice League Dark! It's the most recently released version they made. It fixes many of the complaints you've made about them the last few Kickstarters they've done. I really like that it's light enough that most people will play with me, while still getting a lot of really good asymmetry. The prices on them are pretty wild though
@@benjiiiiiiiii yeah it think the Dark version basically added in what they learned from Epic Spell Wars Annhilageddon. I was forgetting the expansion name. There's nothing wrong with backing a game with the $1 pre-pledge. A lot of us in the community have just taken a stance against it. It's just more FOMO on top of crowdfunding FOMO, and especially with LaunchBoom's website saying they "exploit psychological tricks" for the pre-pledge to work.
@@Denzarki For me, I have a big issue with the company that sort of "pioneered" this as a practice, not as much with companies using it. I find Launchboom to be super shady and manipulative, like a modern day snake oil salesman. I put out a full video on the subject called "Yes, the problem with the 1 dollar pre pledge" or something along those lines, because I found the launchboom video response to be filled with incorrect rhetoric/marketing speak, especially after my community found an article on their website where they literally say "how to manipulate your backers using psychological tricks". The language they use show that they don't care about providing people products, they care about separating people from their money. The incentives behind the 1 dollar prepledges always seem to have their value over inflated just to give you the semblance of a deal, and to give you some sunken cost fallacy so you buy in early when there is less information about the game, and less likely to look into it it's actually a good purchase for you. Sometimes they are just completely made up and not even considered enough to have thought up the special gameplay that they make you feel is integral. I just find the tactic to never be beneficial to the consumer, only giving the appearance of value so they can more easily separate you from your money. And I care about the consumer, and know many people in this hobby are collectors, and I find this preys upon that collector mentality without offering more value. I probably mention more in the video response but I find launchboom to be very unsavory and think they likely take advantage of those independent creators just trying to make it, charging figures I've seen reported from 3800-10k, for a tactic that only solidifies people who were already going to buy your game anyway for the most part.
@@Denzarki I remember deep regrets decided to donate money to a marine organization I believe, which was nice of them (although I don't know if that was preplanned or part of a response to some pushback about the 1 dollar) I hope when you get it you enjoy the game :)
