    I had a small facelift done to our kitchen. There used to be some low voltage lighting under the cabinet, but it got lost in the reno. The black/red low voltage wire that runs from the light switch to under the cabinet is still there. Can I use wire nuts or something similar to directly hardwire a 12v led strip without a small controller or transformer? Just a basic strip that doesn't change colors or dims. The LED strip I'm looking at already has the red/black wires so no soldering would be needed.

      Yes that would be fine - you could use these

      @@wired4signsusa300 thanks for the quick reply! So you are saying I don't need these if I don't want the dimming feature? I can just connect black/red wires from led strip direct to the black/red wiring in the wall?

      Ok sorry I did not understand clearly
      You need to make sure that there is a 12v DC feed coming out that wire . Old lighting was sometimes 12v AC which would not work with strip. You may want an electrician involved .
      The physical wire can be reused
