Installing CORSET SUPPORT into a Chiffon Dress - Bones + Elastic Breast Band....

- Hello friends! In today's video, I wanted to show you how I installed support into a chiffon dress by making a corset-style support system using bones, elastic, cups, and a bra hook. I hope you gained a lot of valuable sewing tips in this video and enjoyed watching the process. Sadly, I wasn't able to see the results on my customer but she told me they were wonderful!

I’ve been sewing for 55 years and still doing bridal gowns every day! Your video is excellent and even I learned some things. Well done!
Thanks so much! Your comment means a lot to me 💕
Wow, what a great work that you have done for this dress. I have learn so much from you and have the same problem with a similar dress of mine. Now I will be able to fix this girls problem. Thank you for everything you do for us! 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Thank you so much Helene! I’m very glad I can help 🥰
You do awesome work and you're so joyful. Love your videos!!
Thank you kindly Betsy! ❤️
As someone who grew up in the 80s and lived through the 90s with, shall we say, a rather large family endowment, I can 100% relate to the boning trauma, although personally I suffered more from its related condition, Stabby Bra Underwire Trauma. Nothing says fun like spending a whole day being repeatedly shanked by your own underwear while you try to maintain a friendly, professional facade until you can get home and dig out your emergency duct tape. 🥚🗡🥚😫☠
😂😂😂😂😂 LOL this comment is so funny, it’s so true … we are survivors! 😭
I know right! You get my suffering 😁😭😭😭
😣🤣😂🤣😂😣You said that very well!
I just love your videos! I learn so much every time. I would have never thought to add boning like that. 🙂
Thanks 🥰🥰🥰
Nice alteration and lovely pics. ❤
Thanks! 😊 Very 80s 😉
Excellent tutorial. A lot of work for a $100 dress. You are El Mago
😄😄😄 Thanks!
Master level skills. Invisible from the outside!
😊😊😊
You’re so funny! 80s Quince gowns were very elaborate! I love watching you do these alterations but I sometimes find it hard to tell why things don’t fit and how to fix them.
Thank you! I'll have to make more videos on fitting. Cheers 🙂
all you did in the bodice makes this dress look more store bought then a beginner's homemade product, it hangs very nice. I think the lady who's going to ware it will look more "gooder"😁 then the rest of the wedding party. You get a 5 out of 5👍's up! I learn something new everytime I watch ya Thank you!
Thanks so much 🥰 You are so kind 💞💞💕
Excellent - just discovered your channel and this is exactly a solution I'm looking for, for one of my curvy brides! She doesn't feel her dress is "on" her. There are bones in it already but I'll be adding to them plus the elastic waistband based on your super tutorial. Thanks again - very good instructions - learning something new after all these years sewing!
Hi from England. I wish you had been doing these videos 15 years ago when my daughter needed pageant dresses lol. Fantastic and very helpful 👍
🥰🥰🥰 Maybe for the wedding 💒 🤪 😁
This was an excellent video! I can always take away a new sewing tip from your tutorials. Thank you very much. 💕💃🏻
Ohhhh I’m so glad to hear, that is my goal with every video! Thank you! 🥰
Excellent video and such beautiful work! Thank you for all the work you put into your content.

Thank you so much! 💓
I love your work!! This video had really creative ideas for support 🪡 I really enjoy your videos ✨
Your AMAZING!!! Best tutorial for adding boning online.
Thanks 😊
Can you please make a video on teaching how to do alteration for beginners and how do you measure and mark customer measurements for alteration? Thank you so much.
Yes. I have to go there too!
Hello, Great job! Thanks
Thank you so much! Appreciate all of you kind comments 🥰
I appreciate your tutorials they are excellent. God bless you for sharing your knowledge
Your videos are always helpful. Thank you!
Thanks 🥰🥰🥰
Oh the boning trauma! Yes, being a DD in the 80’s i can relate. I’m also deathly afraid of shoulder pads 🤣
I’ve seen some 50’s dresses with that waist band. I think it might have been grossgrain ribbon rather than elastic but what a fabulous solution. I wish I’d known how to do that 30 years ago, too late now. I don’t think boning would be up to the task anymore, need an armoured breast plate now! 😂
It's usually a woven ribbon with hooks and eyes a bit smaller than the dress to take the stress off the seams, zipper and buttons.
You can add them to any dress by tacking it at the side seams or making a thread loop and use it like a belt, but inside.
Yes! This ☝☝☝
Great amazing job
Thank you! Cheers!
Omg!! Such talent. Wonderful work. Bello ❤️❤️❤️ love it.

First 🥰
Love your beautiful sewing
Yes! You are! Thanks 🥰🥰🥰
Excelentes clases 👌 muchas gracias maestra
🥰🥰🥰
Well done!
With the elastic coming out of the side back seam, do you think it would work to add boning in the back if needed? I have altered many Azazie dresses and they seem to be decent quality for a reasonable price. Love the video!
Yes, I agree. Decent quality and easy to work with. More boning can be added at the if needed but they will work more for the structure and not so much for the girls and the tummy that was our target. Cheers 🙂
Great idea, love it!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Can I add the elastic over the bones or must it be underneath?
I guess you can! Happy sewing 🧵
Aïe aïe aïe c'est chaud 😊😄
Is the elastic working as a waist stay?
Yes. Pretty much. It also works together with the bones to support the bust. Cheers 🙂
Third!! Awesome video 🥰
Thank you for commenting!!
When making alterations; on a dress, do you avoid modifying the back zipper area?
If you have made changes on the center back or side seam zipper, is there a video showing this? If not could you please make a video showing this.
I do this kind of dress mostly at the sides but often I need to take in at the back too. I'm precisely working on a video about it. Stay tuned 😉
@@DowntownTailoring Fabulous I can't wait!!!!
Hi! I don’t like when you can see bust cups through sheer lace dresses is there a way we can create our own cup with skin colored stiff and sheer material? Thank you!
Yes! It can be done. It's a matter of playing with the right net colors. Let me see if I find a video where I did something that might be helpful.
Here you go!

What do you wrap the end of the boning with?
Hi! I do it to prevent the bones from being too uncomfortable for my customers. Cheers 😊
Second!
