This could be a tea tray, could be a serving tray, could be a valet tray, i don't even know. It's some sort of tray.

This week i make a serving tray out of quarter sawn oak, walnut and maple. This would be utilized in a kitchen to serve, by use of a tray. I hand cut almost 200 hexagons out of maple, walnut, and oak. I glued all the hexagons together on a piece of thin plywood. I used my scroll saw for this task, which meant that none of the hexagons were absolutely perfect. This lead to a number of gaps and cracks in between the hexagons that needed to be dealt with. I utilized some glue to fill the joints with some sawdust. From there, i constructed a fairly simple framework out of quartersawn oak, complete with handles and all things. After that i simply applied a finish and the serving tray was complete. I say that like it was an easy and quick project. It wasn't.
