Sure, why not. Pretty badass. Huttslayer is more a part of Leia's identity than "slave."
Also, no, there's no reason for an R-rated SW project. Keep Star Wars TV-14 and PG13 and under. I don't need to hear SW characters dropping f-bombs unless it's Mace Windu, and nudity and gore are not necessary for good content (and most of the time those things are conspicuously gratuitous when they happen, which is a turnoff - substituting shock value for good writing).

She's in that outfit because she's been taken prisoner. She's Jabba's slave and that's why she's dressed that way. He's a gangster, he's not a nice guy, so it's no surprise he wants to shame a high profile figure of the rebel alliance and an ally of Han. Gangsters use fear, control and shame in this way, just like he enjoys feeding people to his rancor. This is also a trope of fantasy and sci-fi. Nevertheless, Leia is not a victim, she's a badass. There's enough nuance in her using the chains to choke Jabba. She's a "slave" but still not a victim and not helpless. No need to change anything when they should be focused on not making mid shows & movies no one asked for instead.

Every Fett actor has come out and backed the Slave One name as well. I don’t even know if Tem wants anything to do with Disney Star Wars now after how they’ve treated him and handled Boba’s character. Dude just finished filming a great upcoming series with Jason Momoa called Chief of War, he’s voice acting for Moana 2, and he probably has better things to do than have Lucasfilm treat Boba like garbage again. Dude’s my favorite Star Wars actor, Jango’s my favorite Star Wars character, and I feel so bad for what they did to both him and Boba’s character. Literally left him on the phone hanging while he was ready to film for Season 3 of The Mandalorian. They left him completely out of it and didn’t invite him to Star Wars Celebration once he started to criticize and be vocal about his frustration with The Book of Boba and how they treated and handled Boba’s character in it. Disney Star Wars is a complete dumpster fire now.

It would be so easy to make an R rated Star Wars horror movie. I mean those parasites from Geonosis were already terrifying, imagine that in live action. I doubt theyll ever do it but I hope someday they might or I'll find a good fan film like it. Star Wars can be pretty brutal in general, imagine being a storm trooper at night on the moon of endor, its basically space Vietnam. Or the planet of Felucia where you are being hunted by the Acklay while youre barely illuminated by the glow of some of the flora and the moon, being picked off one by one

I like the title of "Hutt Slayer". Not even for any political or woke type of reason or anything. It's just a fitting title/description of her character in those scenes. Hutt Slayer sounds cool in my opinion. That being said, I also think they should have kept Boba's ship name "Slave 1". It's just an iconic name for an iconic ship. That ship will always be associated with Boba, as it should. Calling it "Firestar" which is the class of ship it is, but it's not the name of that specific one, just doesn't feel right in some way. It feels like the name was chosen because it MIGHT upset a very small minority of Star Wars fans. That should never be a reason to make almost all decisions. You can't make everyone happy. Why does it seem like Disney cares more about the very few people that might be offended by something that the vast majority of fans, of every race and belief, has never had a problem with? Instead of listening to the fans about the things they could change that would actually make a difference in the whole world of Star Wars. How does that make sense to them, even just business wise? I just don't understand that.🤷‍♂

The only thing an R rating would bring to Star Wars is more violence... there isn't going to be nudity or "F-bombs" repeatedly thrown around, so why even try to achieve such a rating? Most adults who love Star Wars loved it as a kid first... we've grown up with it as part of our culture. There are plenty of R rated sci-fi/fantasy films and franchises out there already.

Some families choose to let their children/teens watch R rated movies, but why limit the number of tickets sold by restricting the eligible viewership? If it's all about making money (in Disney's opinion), wouldn't they want it to be accessible to every demographic?

"Slave Leia" is perfect for me. It conveniently express the fact that Jabba is ultimately a bad guy and not a potential ally against the Empire. And I like this dimension in Leia, who can use her chains to end both her being a slave and Jabba's life. "Huttslayer" (was it modelled after GoT "Kingslayer" ? and after Season 8 maybe ?) doesn't convene that idea. Same thing for Boba Fett's "Slave One" : regardless of how Disney wants to alter that character now, he's a ruthless bounty hunter who turned crime lord. The ship name easily carries this definition. Did we witness Boba renaming his ship on-screen to reflect some redemption ? No we didn't. I think all these after-thought changes are unnecessary... They're maybe not as much a problem as having Greedo shoot first... But I'd prefer Disney people spend their time to deliver a decent storytelling rather than wasting it on such useless alterations.

You just know the usual UA-cam channels are going to have a field day and it's just painting Disney in a really bad light. I think you can do a rated R Star Wars anything without it losing base with the fundamentals of what Star Wars is. It's all within taste and how well you can execute the idea of it without being gratuitous for the sake of being gratuitous. Just because it's a rated R movie doesn't necessarily mean it has to have all the f-bombs and nudity scenes or anything like that as contradictory as it might sound. With respect to Star Wars needing to still appeal to kids, has anyone at Lucasfilm seen how video games have progressed. I don't play, but I've seen the graphics get better and better over the years. With better graphics comes more realistic injuries, crashes, and action in general. What would an R-rated Star Wars project do THAT much differently? We already have dismemberment, and Maul got cut in half! They're going to add some blood, and what else, the occasional "DAMMIT!"?
There's no need for nudity or blatant gore, but I think adding a little realism to the injuries, and an occasional explosive will make it more contemporary. The MPAA determines what gets an R. They don't need to tip-toe that line, they can gracefully cross over it without ruining a product.

The one rule that they don't break is the roles Jedi, Sith, and secular authority play. More precisely, The Jedi always work to improve the lives of everyday citizens and Sith want to exploit the citizenry. The secular authority will be swayed by one or the other depending on the times and the spectra of citizens to be found. That's my opinion.

Star Wars is for kids. So there needs to be some light-hearted fun, with a lesson for kids. However, I think Filoni is right. There's a space for an R rated Star Wars. But at its heart Star Wars needs to be enjoyable for the whole family. Just as we did when we were kids watching the original movies. The family would watch it.

Huttslayer Leia is cool, *BUT* it happened after a week of Disney boycotting Slave Leia backlash, so less cool. Not only did it piss off the fans, it pissed off Carrie Fisher.

To me, it is absolutely impossible that Jabba would not know who Leia really was. Thus. Jabba would have taken steps to protect himself. And take steps to break Leia's' sense of self through horrific torture and slave conditioning. Then he would get Han Solo to see Leia after days and nights of torture and see her suffering the reality that she was now the vision of a trophy slave with a collar around her neck and Jabba holding her close. A sight Han Solo would never forget. And that experience of being seen as a slave would forever scar Leia. In that scene, Oola had her hands on Leia's bare legs. And Leia had her hand over Oola's hand embracing it in a sign of lesbian PDA and love. By that time it was Oola who had comforted and seduced Leia to accept her permanent slave reality and identity.

The Acolyte's biggest problem is it is 1) uncompelling and therefore 2) boring. And it's not the new characters etc. It is truly just low-grade film-making , like Obi-Wan at an elemental level. If the show was any good, the backlash wouldn't be so bad. It's like Jar Jar folks, he gets the scapegoat b/c people were uncompelled by the rest of TPM, not b/c Jar Jar was the problem.
Fix your structure, tone, pacing, editing, etc.... and the story elements people don't like can be forgiven. It's why TLJ is divisive. Elementally, it is an excellent movie... but some of the ideas/themes presented rub people the wrong way. Fine. Have that conversation. That's the nature of art. But The Acolyte fails to rise even to that level... and THEN commits some basic canon/tone/theme sins on top of that.

It’s just more revisionist history. Are they concerned at all about images or captions of Han being encased in carbonite? Nope. Because they’re also hypocrites. And Bobba’s ship is called Slave 1. It always was and always will be.

The Dawn of the Jedi movie will work and most will be happy with it, if it is an adaptation of the original Dawn of the Jedi comics. It doesn't have to be word for word. But use PJs LotR adaptation. Donit like that and it will be great and well received. Unfortunately, there are only about 2 dozen comics and a medicore novel. But, it can be done.

Why in the world is this the take away? Hiow about something much more simple and not rage inducing. Maybe they don't want 12 year olds buying their toys and assigning slavery to it, whoever it is. Makes much more sense. I remember when culture warriors would say everyone else put identity politics into everything. I think they've become obsessed with it which makes people hate things as soon as they see the identities of the people creating and acting in a project. George said this stuff is for 12 year olds. Maybe they want the next group of adults to be way better than us and really, truly see everyone as people first and their identities second. It could be something like that, not some evil conspiracy.

It's fine. I'm actually surprised they're making that version of Leia in Lego again - good for them. In this case it seems to be less about the riské nature of the outfit and more about avoiding the word "Slave". To those complaining about "wokeness", I'll remind everyone that 40 years ago Kenner renamed the SSD to "Darth Vader's Star Destroyer" because they thought "Executor" sounded too dark. It is what it is; it's not like they're censoring the movie or in this case, not making the figure.

Your general "I just love all star wars" attitude is one of the delights of this channel. The Acolyte seems to be really challenging you on this front and it seems you feel it is deviating from established lore. As someone that left behind religion myself I don't agree at all. That different groups have different views of "the force" makes perfect sense. Christians, Muslims, and Jews all follow generally the lineage of Abraham and yet they not only are quite different, but in some cases can be quite hateful toward each other. In star wars we already have the witches of dathomir using "magiks". Are we to believe their "magiks" are different than the force? I'd argue same "force" different beliefs system.
The notion that the Jedi as a institution are bad is also not new. I would argue that the prequels already established that hubris is what brought the down the Jedi. I actually quite love that Ki-Adi Mundi was included in Acolyte. Like who cares what legends says his age is? I mean obvi legends fans care, but Disney established all that as moot years ago. We need to let it go as a fandom. It is such a perfect illustration of the flaws of Jedi Order to have the guy that said "the sith have been extinct for a millenia" be present when earlier signs of their return started. The Jedi order had Aniken spy on the Chancellor. The Jedi acting as an unelected check on the senate is already a pretty bad look. That there are 10,000 Jedi that allegedly follow one belief system is problematic. Not all 10,000 will be decent people. To think you can "educate" goodness into a person is absurd. I mean just look at the Skywalker apprentice lineage. Yoda trained Dooku, Obi-Wan trained Vader. Every last Inquisitor was a Jedi at one point. The Jedi are far from benevolent and I love watching that unfold on screen. It makes the heroics of Ahsoka, Luke, and Rey so much richer to know they understood the need to be critical of the Jedi.
I always understood Star Wars to be a warning against blindly following institutions. Be that fighting the Empire, or walking from the Jedi. Institutions bring out the worst in people. We should always be wary of them even if we deem them necessary. With this point of view Acolyte seems is in line with star wars lore. Nothing has been broken or retconned. I personally believe we are in a star wars renaissance right now.
