    Build one of these beautiful joints is easy and an excelent starting point. Hard is build something that uses a dozen of them, all aligned, in right place and with right dimensions. That is a real chalenge for metal working artists.

      Or just tac the square tubes on 45° then use hole saw.. you'll save a shit load of time and it'll be more accurate

    I do the same thing cut out card board or paper templates before cutting on my metal. The way he made the round notch is the same way I did it to make a pedastool stand for my drill press.

      The first one is called a "cut off wheel" or "cut off disk" the second is just a regular "grinding wheel"

    Thanks in advance if you would share which brand cut off disk's you are using so we can safely try these joints you have expertly demonstrated? There are some real cheap cut off wheels on the market that would be dangerous to use in these operations where they spilt and fly off causing potential harm. Also newbies should make note the steel used here I believe is galvanized and before welding should be stripped of the zinc with muriatic acid or completely ground off where the super heated fumes are deadly when inhaled.

      @@joshhuskins5363 the round stock is galvanized the square stock is aluminum. If you’ve been welding that long you’d know the difference between aluminum vs steel. But that’s none of my business.

    Perfect for someone like me just looking for basics as I have only used a little wire welder for some little tac welds so this helps with how to on the very basics not as many ,most assume viewer's are already welding to a degree! Not here!😆

Normally, they are tips and tricks for one specific project that does a specific thing for a specific part, and meeting those requirements it's pretty helpful.     That Harbor Freight pipe notcher looks pretty nice especially when you have multiple pipes to cope!

    That first one a metal hole saw ( commonly called annular cutter now ) of same size as the pipe would do the same if used before cutting the square tube. The same for any t joint.

      I don't think he has ever come across with hole saw. And let's be honest this is not practical if your source of income is Fabrication.

    Fitup is half the task. I think working your curves with a file is obsessive, unless building something critical, that will carry Specific loads. Still, excellent Kraftwerk.

    Notice that literally everything he uses is galvanised, no effort to remove it at all and no mention that welding the stuff is quite toxic. Other than that, cool geometry lesson.
