That's the way Polynesian should be . Not on ur tip toes . This is the way we're learned. I have been dancing since I was 6 yrs old. If u want to dance on your tiptoes and you should be a ballerina not a Polynesian dancer

Around 1770, the King of Spain sent two Catholic missionaries to Tahiti with the order to convert the islanders to Catholicism. They stayed in Tahiti for approximately one year (in Tautira) and after a year they asked to leave. They complained that they had not converted any Tahitians to Catholicism because they were dancing all day and part of the night. One of those who accompanied the two missionaries was a certain "Maximo Rodriguez", who wrote an interesting story about that year with the Tahitians. As a curious fact, they found that among the indigenous people there were blonde women, so they think that they are descendants of the crew of a Spanish caravel, the San Lesmes, which is believed to have been shipwrecked around the year 1525 in the Amanu atoll (Tuamotu archipelago) in that some very old cannons were found) and that it was manned by Galicians and Dutch (Flemish) with the intention of conquering the Species Islands
