My sweet C5 Vert was bogging down just before shifting, I squirted some cleaner in the MAF sensor and it didn't help. I replaced the MAF sensor and she's running like a brand new sweet ride. I live in the forest and I love driving my vette in the pines on the winding roads, love your red one too. Mine is millennium yellow, they are special cars.
You’ll get it straightened out. Just take it one step at a time. I personally love c5 vettes so I’m loving this content.
Glad to see you driving it. I'm trying to help my dad from afar with a wandering idle issue on his C4 L98. That larger TB you had might be from a C5 Z06 engine, perhaps. Was just a quick thought I had when I saw it had a GM part number on it. Keep on building yourself up, and that car, you got this.
Yea I think it is a GM part, just for a different intake system. :) I later found out.

The throttlebody you thought looked aftermarket looks to be a gold blade LS3 throttle body. Grounds are very critical on a C5 check they are all clean.
A little better is a little better. Baby steps. I imagine your overheating issue is a combination of a few things. Perhaps a new thermostat and a proper cooling flush and refill with Dexcool will sort it out and of course fixing any leaks. Good luck Gabz. Rooting for you.

make sure to also check your thermostat. it could be getting stuck closed. cant wait to see all the kinks worked out and watching it go sideways! going to be an amazing journey to that point and definitely an amazing ride.
White wheels look good with the red paint. Just throwing a couple suggestions, oil catch can helps keep throttle body clean, upper radiator hose has a habit of pinching tight after a coolant change(open reservoir cap), make sure your fans come on at running temp.

Good Deal Gabby, I have my dream car, a 2003 C5 AE convertible. You have a bad overflow hose, bet there are others in there of the same age. . . . So Love a woman who isn't afraid something like a automobile ! Good luck !

For your cooling issue try cleaning your radiator. And vacuum fill your radiator.

Man, changin the throttle body on my c5 was a bitch. not the biggest headache, but big enough. 😂 those fuckin coolant lines and the damn safety torx! esp since I could only locate a gimbal ratchet with the safety torx bits! there are 3 things in the throttle circuit. If one goes? It goes into check engine/reduced power. It’s the tps sensor, or the TAC module, or the pedal sensor. in mine the actual motor in the throttle body itself quit. You couldn’t push it open by hand.
Did you try to do a throttle body adaptation!? Run a few and it may clear things uo. Sometime a lil grease gets hard in their. Clean out the actuator box if u can open it.
coolant runs through the throttle body to make sure it doesnt freeze in cold climates, you can always delete those lines to remove points of failure :)

The later years: 2003, 2004 have a screen on the stock oem MAF sensors.
My c5 is a 1999
I just watched your story on Instagram and there is a lot of dirt crammed in the fins of the radiator, I think that's you cooling issue
I am rather surprised that you can stand on the coolant reservoir, I guess they made that part right!
I didn’t see you remove or install anything in that quarter sized hole right in front of the throttle valve. Was that off camera or is that still an open hole? I don’t know corvettes well but it appears there is a mass air flow sensor up by the filter and that big hole is letting in 1) unfiltered air and 2) possibly unmetered air.
Yea, it will most definitely let in un-metered air which can easily cause idling issues. All the air coming in has to go through the MAF sensor right behind the air filter so the PCM can correctly calculate Engine Load, fuel delivery, and spark advance.
I keep getting a p0101 code constantly I’ve cleaned the maf a bunch of times it will be good a few times then it pops on after some spirited driving.
You need that gold plated version.
I replaced mine and still have the same issue. I don’t know why oil is still leaking in the throttle response sensor

tps sensor can cause the same issue and they are cheap

I love it! It’s not the most comfortable car but enough power for fun 🤩 they definitely have their issues but worth it
I agree with the OP. Go ahead and buy one, just be ready for the pesky problems that are easily diagnosed but could be a million things in the same breath.

Yeaaaaa, there is so much dirt in the engine bay I would be surprised if one of them needs cleaning and/or is loose. It has 165xxx miles :)
