I'm 99% convinced that this is still Charles Martinet, and his range just changed a little with age. Nintendo may do a lot of questionable things, but I'm sure the voice of Mario, (in the games anyway,) is something they'd never mess with until the VA dies.
Dude's been the voice of Mario for longer than I've even existed, and it's likely just down to the fact that Charles is just getting up there in age, and as we should know, the human voice is always changing, especially with age. Edit:I don't mean a drastic change, as everybody is different, and thus ages differently, but his technique has also likely widened and diversified with age as well. The art style is different, the power ups are different, and of course, the sound effects are different. Luigi's voice in Luigi's Mansion 3 sounded a bit different when compared to Luigi's Mansion 1 (despite the fact that Martinet voiced him in both games). The newer lines probably sound a bit different due to his age and how he recorded them.
I’d say it’s better to have a new VA for Mario sooner than later. I think that already happened just by hearing how different Mario and Wario sound, but still, Charles Martinet is one of my inspirations for VAing, and getting to hear more from him is a blessing.
The thing is Japan literally does not replace VA’s until the voice actor either dies or can’t voice the character anymore, that’s why Sonic’s JP Va has literally never changed

I don’t know, Wario’s “Excellent” sounds the same to me and Mario’s voice lines for the most part sounded like Charles Martinet however that last “Wonderful” line doesn’t sound a lot like Mario but it might just be Charles Martinet recording lines and Nintendo saying “That’s good enough”

Charles is such an iconic part of the Mario series. Without him, Mario would just sound completely off.

They have been using Mario’s same voice lines for the past 5 years and they probably just using new dialogue with him making him sound different
Do people just not know every single mario game re-uses voice clips, like thats just common knowledge. Now its obvious that Martinet recorded new voice clips and thats why it sounds different.
