Kayak Dolly

- This is what I chose to use for a Pelican Catch 120 dolly. I found the dollies offered, by the manufacturers that slip under and strap on or fit in the scupper holes, to be inferior to this master piece I’ve created !~)
A fishing buddy and I were out one trip and when we returned to the launch area I slipped this dolly under my Catch wile he was still fumbling with his FS12T and the “slip under strap on dolly” from Bass Pro. I wheeled my Catch back to the truck and had it loaded, looking back to find the “slip under strap on dolly” slipping out from under the FS12T along the trail. I carried my dolly back and slid it over his FS12T and wheeled it back to his truck, no problem. He later took that “slip under strap on dolly” back and got the one that fits in the scupper holes. It works better but you have to tip the kayak on its side in order to get it in the scuffer holes :~(
Outstanding!! Well done.
I like it A LOT. The best part is how it fits flush on the kayak once you are done with the dolly.
All high priced kayaks should come with a removable version of this, i’m looking for one like this but it’s looking like i’ll be having to make my own. oh well more fun
Awesome build !!!!
Genius! Thank you!
Great design..👍🏽
Better than Boondocks because you are supporting from bottom. A lot of cracked kayaks due to Boondocks pressure on top.. Good job!
Appreciate you sharing this video
I just picked up a Catch 120 this afternoon!! May make this dolly!! Thanks for the ideas!
ya this is design is perfect for a one man show. no tie downs to rust or loosen, will always track straight, 20sec on off when its overhanging out of the truck.... a bit difficult to put on from the ground but its easier than all of your other options. actually just fiddle with it while its in the water. problem solved lol. defiantly making one of these
Pretty proud of those rubber strips
I think this is the best I've seen
thank you soooooooo much will build buddy!
Great video man, have the same kayak , looks like the perfect solution. Thanks
Very nice. 👍
awesome thanks for the prompt video, the measures are perfect!
With a lot of dollies you are unable to position them to make the lift, light weight. You don’t want to be lifting and pulling both.
Wonder if would work on hobie outback. Going over the rudder.
I'd like to get the measurements for this! Please
Nice design and video. Like your style. Seems somewhat like a Boone Dox Landing Gear, only very affordable. I guess people need to know if they are going to journey across a parking lot or a sandy beach and have the wheels/tires to suit. One question...do you think it creates much drag? Thanks for creating and sharing. Will watch this again, for sure.
Like you say, it’s all in the wheels. Being able to put this
on from the front or the rear and pulling from the front or rear whatever is the
lightest with the load in the kayak , it just works.
where did you obtain the rubber material? is it scrap from something?
One of the perks of working in a Tool & Gage / Die & Mold shop is drop material of all kinds I can experiment with. An old tire tube might work.
Awesome! Will be building this for my Catch 100! Quick question what is the make/model of those plastic totes that you painted in camo at around 5:00? Thanks!
Those are Case-Guard Ammo boxes I don’t know what model, I got them at Menards.
They are tan in color and easy to camo.
Do you have a part break down?
much cheaper to make this than the boonedox
