Acer Swift 3 OLED Review

- As you might guess from the name, the Acer Swift 3 OLED 14” laptop has an OLED display. That’s a welcome feature in a mid-priced laptop, as is the 45 watt Intel 12th gen processor that’s more commonly found on mobile workstations and gaming laptops. The Acer is an aluminum clad Ultrabook-sized laptop that’s an easy carry. The 90Hz OLED display is 2.8K resolution, and you can get the PC with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It starts at $900 list.

I watch reviews for stuff I have no intention of ever buying just to hear Lisa review them. After a stressful day at work I find myself watching a random review just to relax and unwind
You should sell your videos on salesmen training for big electronic shops ...
Used to be a salesman ...found your videos so helpful and easy to comprehend !!!
Thanks Lisa for that video ! My 2 cents : it could really be the perfect product for music production (like I do), since you need a powerful CPU for plugins and virtual instruments, but really a dedicated graphics card don't help us music producers as it only comes with extra heat and noise and power consumption.
Well done Acer !
I just like Lisa’s videos. Such a constant in my life. I’ll watch her review anything.
I watch a lot of this stuff and she’s the best tech reviewer on UA-cam.
@@Beastw1ck Yes, agreed. Nobody else knows the industry and has the continuity, and understanding of the different target markets for devices. It’s nice that it’s presented with dignity and without the snugness and condescension you see from a lot of the younger (largely male) reviewers who assume anything that isn’t for gamers is a fail. Lisa creates trust. And it’s not like you’re always in the market for a new whatever, but it’s a comforting channel to watch anyway.
@@VisiV All that plus she just has a nice uplifting and positive vibe going, so I always wish the best for her after watching a review of hers!
Can we upgrade 16gb ram varient of 512GB ram ???
Thanks…I enjoyed your review. Blessings on your day 👍🏻
Acer has come a long way. I had an Acer laptop in the Windows Vista era which gave me both hardware & software grief.
Great, clear summary 👍
Lisa, I love your videos and I like that you look at a variety of computers.
Love the OLED laptop reviews
Awesome overview!
thanx for review mrs
Per Acer's May 18 press release this machine and it's little brother were supposed to begin shipping in July in North America, i5 at $899.99. They put up a nice website for it and then went totally and completely silent. It was up for pre-order on Amazon at one point, then removed and again NOTHING. I've had my eye on it actually, though I agree the keys are not the best and that OLED certainly depletes the battery fast compared to the much less costly IPS. The Acer Swift 3 14" Intel Evo Platform Laptop - 12th Gen Intel i5-1240P - 1080p - Windows 11 in a 16/512 config is $549.00 today at Costco....makes it a bit of a steal at less than 1/2 the price of this reviewed model. Thank you for covering this new iteration out of the Swift 3, I've been waiting for it to show up in the wild.
How would a H and U series CPUs compare on efficieny with a similar workload? Is the H series actually less efficient under low load or does it just draw more power when under heavy load? Thank you for the review!
Yeah thats a pretty nice value. I'm sure many people will enjoy
There’s a secret laptop that almost none of the tech bloggers have picked up on because it’s not been available in the US, only EMEA & Pacific. That’s the 14” Lenovo Yoga 7 Gen 7. Not to be confused with the many Slim 7s or the Flip, this is a 2in1 but actually better than the range topper Yoga 9i provided you spec the Ryzen 7 6800U with its Apple Silicon like points per watt efficiency and MX 450 beating iGPU performance. It has a 2.8K OLED touch screen and LPDDR5 6400 RAM plus an FHD webcam, Windows Hello, USB-C 4.0 amongst a great port selection. It’s in a premium, all aluminium chassis & retails at around $1,100 in this top spec. It punches way above its weight performance wise, and runs cool with much better battery life than Alder Lake rivals (unsurprisingly). If this finally comes to the US next year you should definitely review it. It’s the perfect M2 MBAir rival for peeps that must have Windows but don’t need 45W power (or the fan noise & shorter battery life). It even games well. 👍🏽
I had the predecessor which looked identical.
The keyboard was really bad and there was annoying could whine.
But the price for the performance you got was excellent.
What a wonderful display marred by too many other drawbacks. But excellent review as always, Lisa!
Acer Swift 3 OLED, for stylish number crunching! An odd product, but maybe it'll find its place out there.
Thanks.
it nice but where is the amd one, the 7th is soon coming out but i still not see any 6th except the egde
Hi Lisa, could you review the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (N7601)? The panel is HDR600!! Seems to be the most serious competitor to the McBook pro, probably the best OLED display in the market right now, and certainly better than the gamma distorting MiniLED technology for HRD! Or their 14 Inches model, which has 90Hz and HRD600 (which is seriously sick, no one does that right now!!).
I've had Acer notebooks before. Silver Acer notebooks, to be specific. Silver Acer notebooks with silver keyboards, to be even more specific. DANG difficult to type on without any contrasting difference to those keys. Silver notebook / silver keyboard is something I have long since put on my "avoid" list.
same experience
3:14 So this laptop is for a mathematician! Incredible how relevant this review is.
Ooo oled in a budget segment laptop
wow. interesting laptop!
It’s just me or the second m2 slot looks a little bit smaller?
Im upgrading from an aspire E 15. What should I upgrade to next? I run powerpoint and multiple tabs alot.
can you review also the asus vivobook s14 oled 2023?
Besides the bloatware what has always upset me about Windows laptops are the stickers.😀
just to make sure, are both the m.2 slots running at pcie 4.0 x4?
Asus ZenBook 14 (UX3402) is the exact same thing + better build quality, better keyboard, better speakers, bigger battery, and better touchpad.
It costs $650 on Walmart for 90Hz 2.8K OLED model.
This is certainly a valiant effort from Acer, but Asus is just miles ahead of everyone else in the budget ultrabook market segment.
Do a review on swift edge 16?
Can we upgrade 16gb ram varient of 512GB ram ???
I just hate silver keyboards.....i do not understand why companies insist on this color for keyboard....it is so difficult to see both with backlit as well as during daytime.......keyboards should always be of darker color..
Take a class, learn how to touch type and stop whining.
Why do you need to see your keyboard though?
By keyboard, if you mean whole surface, prefer silver. #1 reason: Telecommuter. Write main passwords in pencil where fast + EZ to find
@@tormaid42you’re kidding right? For a lot of people it takes some getting used to a keyboard layout especially in a laptop that you are not familiar. Most laptops have a different layout than a typical desktop keyboard so you may not be familiar with all the keys. That’s why it’s important to be able to see the keys with a quick glance.
Is it good for editing 4k?
Cool shirt
The 12700H model is only 999 dollars right now. 1TB/16GB DDR5 fantastic OLED screen Killer Wi-Fi Excellent deal. TWO M.2??/ SOLD!
Hi Lisa! All I can see in my local market is that all Ultrabooks are being loaded with intel H series processors: 12500H, 12450H, 12650H, 12700H, 13500H, 13420H, that too WITHOUT dedicated graphic card. What is the point? Where are Intel P-series processors? Aren't ultrabooks supposed to have U-series processors. Does that mean U series i5/i7 are worthless?
Portability not only depends on weight but also battery life! Whos gonna tell them???
I guarantee nobody is gonna need that much power in an absence of dedicated graphics card, except may be 1 in 10k buyer, if running virtual machines.
just over $900 (8 ram, LPow) for OLED, WIFI-6E, TB 4, USB 4, good colors - seems like a solid deal for non gamers. Maybe for a student.
Once in a while Acer spits out something interesting among its piles of forgettable hardware. I remember their Timeline series from a decade ago being unusually sleek and clean without the price premium of Macbooks or Lenovo's Thinkpad X.
Acer last 2 years has been good. From high end gaming to this.
Hi are u active?
Soldered RAM = instant no.
Is the ram expandable or only 8gb
on board ram
These kind of laptops are so weird, they dont offer anything special, but still exist to make mony for the company. I really dont see any reason to buy this laptop unless maybe you are a developer and like windows or you dont know what laptop to pick since they are so many options in the market and you randomly end up bying this one.
bl bla bla. Cant here you properly
U deaf??
First
Nope doesn't count if you got nothing to say.....just a little baby playing stupid games to show the world what a loser they are
45W CPU in thin chassis... GUARANTEED TO PERMA-THROTTLE
typical acer garbage
Back to 1980. What a trash design.
1:16 - "it is glossy, glare is... not too bad though on this..."
1:21 - lolwut?
