    I fucking love my Helix. I've had it about 4 years and couldn't imagine not using for absolutely everything from recording to live.

      They are really cool. I do think they benefit massively from loading good IRs if you are using the cab modeling thiugh

    @valhallir.at for the Impulse responses. Pick the Wolverine 2*12 cab V2 pack. Then select the new Revv amp Sim in the helix. Select the ts808 for boost. For stereo, open the B channel, put a 12ms delay in front of the identical chain, set the outputs to left and right and leave the settings as they are. Dual IRs also really thicken things up, but you must be careful about phase issues. Great video, love the content.

    I really like these kinds of hands on demos, invaluable when deciding on gear, especially modellers so you know what kind of tone to expect without much tweaking! One bit of constructive criticism, do try and fix that floating pitch/tuning when recording as it gets quite distracting.

    Great sound Taylor !
    In this video you are showing exactly what I was trying to know about helix, that is, the possibility of adjusting the microphones on the caninets...which is very refined! Is there a lot of variety of sounds for the heavy genre? or are there few amps?...

    Great video. You could use a parametric eq to dial out some of the harshness around 4-5k after the cab block and a tiny bit of reverb makes the sound a bit fuller.

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  4 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the suggestion. I could, but at some point when you start cutting things out like you would if you were mixing, you end up losing some of the aliveness of the amp. I've found that I actually prefer just letting the amp models do their thing in most cases, and trying to dial in with just the eqs from the model.
      Also, I know some people like to do that with reverb, but it's not for me. For the most part I like meat and potato noisegate>OD>AMP type signal chains. Thanks for the comment!

      Yeah on all my patches I use the input block to add the noise gate to get rid of the humm. eveb though I dont use high gain pickups I still dont like the noise. its nice they let you save DSP by adding it to the inpiut block

    I was really enjoyed the Hotone Ampero videos that you uploaded. I’m planning to buy one but I’m a bit confused. Everyone is telling me to go for Line6 POD HD500X. I like both the units. Please give me your opinion. Thank you 😃

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  4 роки тому +2

      It really depends on what you're using it for. The podhd line doesnt allow you to load IRs, which if you want to use in a studio setting, with headphones or through an FRFR is a deal breaker - the stock IRs suck. But if you're going to use it as a preamp, it sounds pretty decent. I'd still prefer the ampero, wider selection of amps without having to pay for upgrades, and higher fidelity. Plus the color touch screen is a nice bonus

    Your doing it proper, amp first the sift through cabs. The stock cabs sound like ass. Luckily the helix has a super easy way to scroll through IRs. Don’t sleep on the stupor OD. I use that with my archon preset for drop A sharp guitars. Turn on your input gate, 10 mil delay, threshold around -55 the OD, then noise gate after OD set to same as inputs gate.. then amp, IR..... whatevs.. that’s my workflow at least.

    Something about the helix amp modelling feel just still doesn't feel real. I want to like it but it's not as good imo as the atomic amplifire

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  4 роки тому +2

      Honestly, I think all modern modelers are good enough to pass as real amps. Besides, what's a real amp anyway, you know?
      There is a bit of difference in feel, but in my experience it's not substantial.

      if you get a Powercap with the Helix you can still get the AMP IN THE ROOM feel if you dont like the digital sound. The reverb settings in your signal makes a big difference to make it sound less digital
