A grown adult complaining about a toy…
@@PrayersEcho7 a toy for a Lot of Money...
in Addition lego has the Same Problem with the 18+ or ucs Sets too
@@PrayersEcho7 lego is far, far away from being a toy. Its deeper than that, naive people think its just a toy. The thing is that lego has moved on, they now make "toys" for adults as well. they still make lego for kids, buts thats the minority of their profit. The lego profit comes from adults, no matter the age of the "toy" printed on the box. It isnt an ordinary company, its one of the biggest (if not the biggest) toy company, close to 15 bilion in value.
So yes, an adult should complain about a company that makes sets that are coming closer and closer to the 1 thousand mark.
lego knows that adults buy their stuff.
or do you think a kid would be interested in building a world map?
or a painting like monalisa?
its a brand aimed at adults, that makes toys for kids too... it switched. and they should be critized for many things, specially pricing. Funwhole is my hope to make things change with lego.
@@PrayersEcho7
It's not about the toy, which is not even a true toy.
A hobby is always about accessibility and profit and how those two should be balanced.
As an adult 70 bucks is not nothing but manageable.
The same cannot be said about a child.
To me it's a hobby because I'm a massive Star Wars fan. (Disney is heresy but not all of it)
Now as an adult with adult money, building the army I always wanted has become a matter of surplus spending I can afford.
Little Jimmy won't be afforded with the same luck when his parents have to think about the budget and whether his wish is covered or not.
If Lego wants big spenders, their main goal should be to gain small spenders and secure their customer loyalty.
Lego: No Plo Koon playscale starfighter this year
Also Lego: Has plo koons starfighter on arc-170 box art to rub it in
Facts 😂
plo-koon fighter foreshadowing?
Maybe their just screwing with us and there actually will be another plot star fighter
@@cwhitehouse1791it’s gonna be a microfighter, at least that’s the most current rumor.
I got lucky since I got Plo Starfighter years ago as a gift and now I can have the full scene!
I totally agree about the stickers on the windshields! That’s false advertising and LEGO often does that with their renders. I’m glad you called them out cause they either need to fix their quality or stop advertising it wrong on boxes!!!
Especially on a $70 set, absolutely ludicrous.
pretty annoying how brands like Mega and Cobi can stop using stickers and only use prints but Lego wont
wind shield pieces or large trans clear pieces in general are prone to scratches in the bags. How would you feel if your white windshield print had scratchmarks new out of the box? xD this is how you work around that issue lol
@@StudioSmith true but that's not the point here - it's the false advertising and just because EVERYONE is doing it doesn't mean LEGO has to as well. They are a family orientated company which should act the part and should be called out like this each and every single time. From pricing things too high to not doing prints to doing a cheap rendering of a mini-fig character. It's not like we a dealing with a new company doing new products here.
@@StudioSmith lego has many printed windshields that look fine and sometimes they come on their own bag
$70 is insane.
People say that about every lego star wars set these days. Lego is just getting greedy at this point and pretty much every set is overpriced
It really isn't
What's even worse.....that's about $100 CDN.....no chance I get my hands on this for $100
@DarthRakdos0805 yes it is. Price/piece ct for this set = ~14 cents per piece. Star wars sets usually go for around 11 cents per piece, and non star wars sets go for around 8 cents. This is overpriced
@@meeep9099 considering inflation, 101 more pieces and new pieces. No its not.
Lego has seen everyone saying sets are too expensive and people should wait for sales. Now they simply preload the price and when you buy it on sale they still get what they want. If you don't wait, bonus for them.
What is inflation for $500, Alex
@@InhabitantOfOddworldThis is definitely not in line with inflation rates. It's just greed.
@@mikeyes620
Uh, yes it is. The $60 set from 2010 is now $86 when you adjust inflation. This set is $70. You have more pieces, better minifigures, and a better design. The sticker windshield remains.
It's not greed, you're just coping.
@@InhabitantOfOddworld More pieces that are smaller. Better design? Subjective. Its a good set for $55-60
@@koslegoman
Price per piece doesn't distinguish size. They still require manufacture.
It is subjective. Subjectively, the 2010 set is a bad design. Overly large and bending wings.
$55-60 is lowballing it. That would be the price of the 2010 Landspeeder. Inflation shows that $70 is a very good price. You obviously have a low earnings or a poor job.
really REALLY hope to grab this one on sale because i am NOT paying $90 CAD for what's essentially an excellent $50 set
It's my favorite ship! I have the 2010 from when I was 9 years old
I doubt it'll go on sale and if it does it'll sell fast, people love this ship I've seen an insane amount of comments saying they're ready to pay full price
Canadian here, I feel that lol
@owene2530 they usually go on sale for about 20% during the last months before retirement. It happens to most of them
Another person oblivious to inflation. The 2010 set was sold for $80 Canadian, and that would be $110 if sold today
$90 is more than reasonable given the piece count, the better design, and the scale.
If you're saying this is a $50 set, then what you're saying is that it's not worth anymore than the 2010 Luke's Landspeeder ($35 in 2010 and $50 today). That's absurd and your opinion should not be taken seriously.
“This is where the fun begins.”
"I hate flying"
@ classic obi wan
12:08 or option C... PRINT THE WINDSCREENS!!! 😅 we know they can do it. it's not too complex of a shape. they printed the half-sphere windscreens for the gunship bubble turrets, and have done so since 2002!!!
Here’s a thought, instead of Lego deceiving everyone (yet again what a surprise…) with the windscreen pieces, they could just actually print the windscreen pieces…
If only that were the case...
That would be great
“Only the best is good enough” looool
It's even worse on the new Ahsoka's Starfighter. The render makes the cockpit colors look bright and matched to the set. Then you get it and realize that the cockpit piece is darker and duller than the rest of the set. It looks awful
As a collector, I like the smaller scale, not only are the new sets more detailed for display, but take less space too. As for this set, my only complaint is the size of the cannons, those cannons should be at least twice the size, they're humungous, but nothing I can't mod.
My thoughts exactly on the cannons, first glance looks like there flying a starship but with blasters for weapons lol
While they have some accuracy improvements the detail is sometimes a bit lacking especially if you don't use the stickers. But they come at a cheaper price and the moding is fun. I really liked taking my X wing to the next level.
I recently finished my 2025 arc-170 and I've also modded the wings to be longer and the guns to be larger (while also getting ridd of the beam shooters).
Lengthening the wings didn't actually have as much effect as I originally thought it would, rather, it was replacing the guns with much more longer and accurately modeled parts that made the new Arc170 look way better. I personally already like it better than the old versions from an overall stance, but anything that feels lost by the smaller size is gained back with the replacement guns.
Despite the size, which I can get behind because it allows more space and matches with the newer scales of sets, I am glad for the new function that opens the S-foils without the old turner! I'm actually excited to combine the best elements of the 2010 and 2025 ARCs.
People have done the math and this is actually super close to minifig scale and iirc it’s actually technically a touch bigger than minifig scale. Size is phenomenal
@@Absolsyeah but thats not worth 70$ lets be real
I did combine them and boy does it look so much better. (Added the 2010 cannons to the 2025 model, though I scaled them down a little bit + added the 2010 bottom red pieces to improve how it looks underneath) just those two changes made this arc-170 the best in my opinion
I actually don’t hate getting smaller models. From a collectors standpoint it allows for more space to be saved while displaying sets and it allows for a sturdier build since everything is so much more compact
I’m fine with starships being smaller. Until 2020, starships were getting ridiculously oversized. They were costing $80-$90 and if they kept that same size this set would probably be at least $100. This still feels scale accurate and semi-affordable.
The 2013 gunship was huge
@zachduperron8543 the 2013 gunship and 2018 x wing is about the only cases where I like the bigger versions, I don't mind the two recent x wings, but the gunship from last year was too small, and it's overall design suffered because of that
I agree they take less space in your shelf and are much better for moc building as you don't have to build a really big moc to make it fit in.
How far off mini-figure scale is it exactly and what mods need to be done on it to make it so does anyone know?
2010 arc 170 looks way better
Already made space in my minifigure display case for those Clones! Can’t wait to pick this one up!
Personally $70 might be a tad bit over budget but ohhh man…those clone pilots are wonderful
Gotta wait till they go on sale just like every other lego star wars set haha
Gotta just wait for a sale bro, same as me 😂.
I’m not going to complain about the price relative to when I was a kid tho, bc the 2010 one is like $85 adjusted for inflation which I had no concept of bc it was a Christmas present. Yeah Lego’s slowly gotten greedy but people can’t just go around comparing price per piece to sets from 15 years ago like it’s some big gotcha 😂
@TeenageMutantZuckerTurtle I saw the same guy talking about the price per piece, he seemed to think anything over 10 cents was overpriced
@@TeenageMutantZuckerTurtle
They haven't gotten greedy though?
People need to seriously think this through. The original, crappy looking Lego X-Wing from 1999 was $30 back then - that's $56 in today's value. That's *more* than the 2021 version, and just compare them! Better pieces, a far better design, a better selection of minifigures. An overall better product for which you actually paid around $6 less for.
That pattern is replicable. The RoS Millennium Falcon costs less than the first couple of sets as well, for what is easily the best minifigure scale Falcon ever made.
So I cannot see the greed there. You're paying less for more. Lego are producing more pieces in more colours for more accurate designs with more accurate minifigures and charging you *less* for it.
You know what issue I see? The issue is that the average consumer is physically incapable of understanding inflation. They adopt an idea in their head of how much a set is worth and stick with that forever. They'll compare 2024 prices against 2010 prices and not once consider how much their (insert currency here) have devalued over 14 years in a post-covid economy.
The other issue is that you might feel you're not earning any more money. That's not Lego's fault; various world governments have caused wages to stagnate. Or you were a kid when you got those sets years ago, in which case your sense of value is non-existent if you weren't the one paying for it.
@
I understand inflation and I won’t ever complain about prices when it’s literally just evidence of inflation. I’ll also defend video games (finally) getting a price increase over the $60 it’s been my entire lifetime, as long as those $70 aren’t lazy cash grabs that is.
When I say Lego is getting greedy it’s less about price and more about two very specific things.
A: unpopular downgrades to figures. I actually don’t hate the helmet holes on new Clones and I think people are over dramatic. Yeah they could have been executed better but the ability to finally put accessories on phase 2 troopers is worth it IMO. At least we got a new utility out of that decision by Lego. On the other hand, I think that printed waist capes are a huge step down from nearly 15 years of precedent that’s a solution to a “problem” (not being able to seat the figures) that no one really had because you could just… remove the cloth piece to sit the figure in a cockpit. It’s definitely just a cost-cutting measure that suddenly popped up around the same time that we started getting more leg printing on almost every Star Wars figure. If Lego’s going to keep doubling down on the change I wish they would give us dual-molded legs or side printing so that the Kama prints aren’t just a little line on the front of each leg. It’s not a huge deal but it’s really annoying to see them make such an aesthetically weird-looking change (while everything else has improved so much otherwise) without putting in the extra cent per figure to give us Kama detail on the sides with prints or dual molding to give us similar visual quality that cloth provided. I actually think the third party market is hurting us here, Lego will never change it or fix it now because the people that really, really care will just drop absurd amounts of money on customs which costs Lego nothing.
B: stickers. This isn’t a new problem but it’s just slowly crept in and gotten worse. I’m truly surprised there’s printed pieces in this new set among all the stickers. 90s-2000s Lego, on the verge of bankruptcy, still put in the extra effort to print pieces, often for just one set, even though it cost more. Did stickers make sense as a cost cutting measure? Sure. But Lego’s riding high now and never went back to printing instead of covering sets in stickers, even though they easily could. It’s like when “temporary” fees and price increases become permanent in industries. Remember when baggage fees were a “temporary” security/money making feature that airlines “only needed” to help rebound from Sept. 11? Wild comparison but it’s the same concept. Stickers suck even for adults: they’re finicky and easy to mess up, they age like milk because of dust and uneven yellowing vs pieces, and for kids, the odds of messing them up is even worse and they often don’t stand up to the typical wear and tear of play. It’s a lost cause at this point to hope for a return to the glory days of printed pieces in every set, but when it comes to larger sets, even high-dollar UCS sets, having ridiculously massive sheets of stickers it is kind of ridiculous. The level of quality on your premium offerings should just be higher in that regard. But at the end of the day I blame the target audience for these sets (grown adults) for just mumbling and accepting it instead of demanding prints for expensive sets using the only tool Lego cares about: their wallets.
So yeah, they’ve gotten/remained greedy in a couple of regards but I don’t really expect much else, they are a company after all and these are just products at the end of the day. I hold the adult fanbase equally responsible for essentially bankrolling every frustrating decision that Lego makes while endlessly complaining and grifting about it online without actually taking any action that Lego cares about(not buying certain sets with those issues). They’ll complain about the clones, or they’ll complain about stickers, and then they’ll buy 5 duplicates of a set for army building at the same time they complain about it. Clown behavior.
I really appreciate the smaller sizes of the modern ships just because they look more to scale with mini figs and they fit on shelves easier
I'm just glad it's being released again....my 2010 ARC is lonely
I love what LEGO has started doing with downscaling ships some time ago. I don't need a massive ship to love it. I'd rather have a more finished and detailed model, and this ARC-170 seems like another great example of that.
For the price though it’s so bad, and there’s only a point where you can downscale something and still have it look good with good proportions. The downscaled x wing’s and TIEs have been terrible since the 2018 ones
That's why I'm more than happy to wait for the 20% discount, I never rush.
It's so great to exchange views, as to me all downscaled X-wings and TIE Fighters feel actually better than the last properly big ones. With a caveat that the Solo TIE Fighter is the best of the best, but I truly enjoy the smaller, somewhat "chibi" TIEs flying around.
@@FoolECK I actually think, that the Solo TIE was the turning point, when people noticed how ridiculously large even small fighters had become.
Love the way david puts his sentences together. “I can really go hardcore on this thing and its not gonna bust on me”
I really like the honesty and transparency you used when talking about the stickers and the render of the set on the box
The only main problem I have for this set is the wing span is a bit short which I can easily modify. The diagonal section of the engines stick out too much and also can be modified easily. Overall I'm super hyped for this set. Also for those complaining about the $70 price tag, the 2010 set costs $86.60 with no tax if newly released today.
That’s not how inflation works. Prices are relative to other goods. So no the set wouldn’t be 86 dollars. You can’t just throw a number into and online “inflation calculator” and say “Ah yes, this is how the economy works”.
Everyone wants leg printing. Then we get leg printing and all ask for dual molded legs! 😂
honestly. i just got back into lego, havent been into them since like 2009, i was shocked to see leg printing, like wow this is awesome! then i see people complain for dual leg molds like who cares 😂 call me old but i like my printed legs
So?
@alexmcdaniel116 Either way, it's not a big deal for me! Some characters need it, but some don't! Lol
then when we get dual molded legs we ask for side leg printing
@@mreggs3731that makes lego feel like a knock off its either print or dual molded but no side print on legs pls
Quick correction @2:38; David the 8088 ARC-170 in 2010 retailed for $60.00 USD
Adjusted for inflation, that $60.00 comes out to approx. $86-87 USB today
So basically at $70.00USD we technically are getting a set for cheaper that contains 100+ more pieces. Still it's not just a LEGO thing; $70 just feels like a lot no matter what you're buying, ie. like video games these days.
Everyone will have their own opinions on the proportions/downscaling and that's fine, but like you said in this review, this ARC-170 is also far more robust so imo overall, this set is a win!
100 more tiny pieces. 8088 was absolutely massive and amazing. This is a tiny display piece that’s minimised to hell and back. It looks like a Happy Meal toy.
Lego is pulling the classic making individual products in a packet smaller but saying “now with 10 extra cookies”, and you’re falling hook line and sinker for it.
@@fritosalad5853 nah, this is just a wrong take. I understand nostalgia having a huge effect, but come on...
This is a sturdy, versatile model, can be used as a display and for playing too. Is't a cleaner design. So I don't see what's minimised about it. Looking at in-universe pictures it's actually really quite close, maybe the wings are a bit too chubby, but by one or two studs only.
Yes, it's small pieces, but they make up more details. Seems fair enough.
And I'm not saying this to cockride Lego, I'm not at all gonna buy this set regardless. But overall it's just a case of their focus shifting slightly, or, better said, becoming broader (if that's even a word)
@ It looks close to the in universe model? What about it looks even remotely correct??? The guns are abysmally tiny and silly, the wings are way to short, the cockpits are poorly positioned and the main body is way to stout, and the engine intakes are bizarrely tiny.
Also details don’t justify that price increase. If this was 50 dollars then fine. But not 70.
@@fritosalad5853the old arc 170s would fall apart if you breathed too hard on it, this one is way more sturdy and objectively a better build. It’s better scaled down which makes it more to scale with figs and it takes up less space. I’m a grown man, I don’t want sets to be the size of the shelf it looks dumb when they are that big. I have the U wing and the inquisitor shuttle and those are so big I have almost no where to display them
I love the shaping and general look of this ship, the building techniques on display are terrific, great use of all of those curved pieces. Even if it's smaller than the past arc 170 sets, I think this set objectively looks way way better.

I also like the new scaled-down versions. It gives more room for precise detail, potentially more durable, and possibly cheaper too. I never had a Slave 1 before, but the most recent scaled-down version was totally affordable so I was able to get it, and it looked just fine at its scale
i think you talked 1 really good point with down scale - when making MOC, it's easier to meet the ratio. I dont really need a huge MOC to utilize these ships!
and Storage!! save on space!!
First official Odd Ball fig is lovely
I actually don’t mind this set, it does look overall very good.
I definitely think that it could’ve been two studs longer all around the set. Especially since the wings look a little too stubby imo, especially the expanded wings.
But I do like pretty much everything about this set, I just also wish that Lego would just start printing the windscreen pieces.
Wow!!! Im coming here as a 30 year old from the 2005 version, not knowing there was any of these new ones! Its really, really clean looking! Just glancing at the differences, the cockpits are fantastic and the wings open and close in a second compared to the slow, monotonous turning required on the old one. I do love that mine can drop bombs! lol.
What originally was my pet peeve when this was revealed was that. We got named two pilots (Oddball and Jagg) instead of just three of the red unnamed ones. Now I understand the reasoning and am completely fine with it. The set build itself though is phenomenal actually.
The Jag figure can actually be used as an unnamed pilot since Oddball’s copilot, Jag’s copilot, and Jag’s tail gunner all use identical helmet markings to Jag in ROTS.
the scaled down sets, when we talk about playsets are generally great Idea. They're easier to play with while, like this ARC-170, they also can have good proportion to have a collectors values untill a UCS for it would be released
While it is smaller i think this is rhe cleanest looking arc 170 we've ever gotten
I agree
I also like how they scaled it down, it makes it more affordable theoretically
The price is what I’d expect from LEGO Star Wars. For sure thought this would be $80 but we are back to the $70 4 mini figure Star fighters.
Will definitely grab it on a sale.
It's a good price when you account for every variable (inflation, piece count, minifigure prints, design accuracy, Disney license fees)
This is one of my favorite set in recent years. It’s always been my favorite ship and I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
It'd be nice if they made a UCS set for this.
Imagine the price on THAT one 💀

I’m so excited for this!!! Last one I got was the 2005 one!!! I went through a stupid “I’m too old for legos” phase and stopped collecting so I missed out on the 2010 one!! I rekindled my old lego love 2 years ago and I’m so happy they brought back the arc 170!!!
Canopy stickers are the devil
Honestly, i have been a fan of the downscaled star wars sets since 2021, it makes larger ships far more accessible to people (kids specifically) and easier to play with. This feels like the 2021 x wing to me: a great retry of an iconic vehicle with smaller hands in mind. Price also feels fairly proportional to what you get by modern lego standards.
I think the set looks fine, but it is quite expensive. I know some people have pointed out with adjustment for inflation, that this is cheaper than the original released back in the day. I also think it’s disappointing that the rumored Plo Koon’s Starfighter set will be a Microfighter, instead of another play set that pairs with this ship. I will say the minifigs are really nice though. Appreciate your review!
It is certainly cheaper. The issue is that most people can't comprehend inflation, the human mind struggles with variables. People expect $50 to always be $50.
Lego has always been expensive. A $30 set in 1999 is $56 today. Injection moulded plastic will never be cheap, nor will the IP license fees. People have this fanatic obsession that Lego is secretly ripping them off when actually sets are becoming cheaper and better - the issue is, as it always is, with the government. Governments create inflation.
The 2010 version was my first star wars set, I can't wait to grab this one, for pure nostalgia!
I enjoy the sets being scaled down it keeps the cost down frees up shelf space and makes the sets more durable to handle I hope we get a scaled down x wing I never liked how the mini fig scale star destroyer was barely any larger than the x-wing especially in width I like the very original Lego x-wing size
Yeah the scale is perfect but 70$ for 500 pieces is a ripoff
@@bambostarla6259
More pieces than the 2010 set and costs $16 less adjusted for inflation.
I love this version the most. Compact and easier to carry and sturdier. Old ones are just flimsy
For me, besides the price, what bothers me about it is not so much the engines, but the front nose seems really squared off and flat. It doesn't look so bad when its in your hand, but on the front of the box it is really notable to me. I'll probably end up modifying it when I get it
Also the cannons on the wings are supposed to be way bigger
Honestly I’m not too upset about the downscale as it isn’t too bad compared to other things. Plus I think it’s a little more accurate proportioning. I think it looks really good and I’m excited for it.
10:49 “it’s not gonna bust on me” 🤨

😂
I was hesitant to get this set because I was such a fan of the last one but seeing you review it changed my mind. Super excited for the new figs!
the problem with them downsizing the bigger ships like this and the gunship is that they simontaineously also scale UP the smaller ships like the Interceptors. If they’re downsizing, they should downsize everything. I’m not saying the interceptor should’ve been a microfighter but considering the larger ships and wayy to small and the interceptor is larger than ever - it makes everything out of scale and look weird. That’s my main problem. The intercerptor is a tiny and skinny ship canonically so there’s no reason to make it larger than it needs to be.
Yes, I really wish Lego could try making smaller scaled Delta-7’s or Eta-2’s. The only real issue is that the windscreens can look a little large.
This looks really nice.
I'm also okay with the downscaling. If nothing else, it'll be easier to store and display, space is kinda at a premium for me.

Honestly it's bigger than I feared, works really well in the hand, excellent build quality, the plates on the bottom look great for holding onto. Honestly seems like a great kit, if, as usual about $10 overpriced.
Looking at movie pictures of the Arc-170 this thing is actually pretty darn close to the correct scaling. The engines would be the only thing that are a bit off. All in all I was genuinely surprised when I looked it up! Lego cooked with this set, but are cooking our wallets with it too lol
The price is fine, it's all down to inflation. This is cheaper than the 2010 set for a way more accurate design using more pieces.

Only because they've got it in their head that $70 is a lot. In some ways, it is a lot - but it's not any more than $50 was in 2010.
I'm willing to bet that a lot of these commenters were just kids when the old sets were released, and now they're complaining because they realise how much it was costing their parents at Christmas 15 years ago.
The turret is off as well, a whole chunk of the tail section is missing. The cannons are too small and the space for the droid should be closed off in front and back between the technical officer and gunner.
Imo one of the worst iteration of the arc 170 Lego made yet.

Don't buy it then - more sets for the rest of us ✌🏼
im just really happy to see new clone pilots.
Arc 170 time!
I've always enjoyed Lego sets that are scaled to the individual figures. As a kid, it made play WAY more fun.
Not a single comment about the set's quality, instead crying about the price tag, as always. You guys are really something else.
also I feel like a $10 increase in price from the last version which came out almost 2 decades ago isn't that crazy
This set is scaled down, but it is actually the closest to mining scale we have. If you do the math the wingspan is still oversized slightly for a true minifig scale
STOP PAYING RETAIL PRICES
TAKE AN ECONOMICS COURSE
UNDERSTAND INFLATION
@@InhabitantOfOddworld Inflation has very little to do with it. Lego just wants those record profits to stay high.
@@Motorsportsgeekmaybe for other sets but this one is reasonably priced lol
If you are complaining for retail prices 90% of the world buy Lego sets above retail outside the US EU and GB 😂 In the Philippines it’s all 30-50% above retail. So we need to wait for third party to buy🫤
@@direkjes.editing Yes and because of that Lego keeps cheap fake replica competitors in business. They offer 90% of the product for 10% of the cost. It's lego's own fault for all these fake lego being produced in china.
Omg I’m 31 years old and I still have the original version of this ship that I remember picking up at the store with my dad. Can’t wait to pick up the new version even if it is overpriced.
I think it's just a tad too small. The wingspan isn't quite long enough, they look stubby. I'm not sure... I'd say the obvious- that I'm not getting it full price but that has been my motto with LEGO Star Wars for years and years now. So...
Me too, have jumped into LEGO Studio right on the reveal day to fiddle around with the less than ideal engines! But hey, it's the beauty of the brick built system that we can tweak builds to heart's content!
70$ is insane for a set like this Although it does Come with named characters but no jedi But this is a set I will be picking up As well as lego ahsoka jedi interceptor If even though it's overpriced at 45 dollars
This set is cheaper then the 2010 one, and has a lot more pieces.
@Wastydest Well it's obvious that it's cheaper than the 2010 It's more expensive on release than the 2010 The only reason why it's worth it Is because it has a hundred more pieces But.
It shouldn't be 70 dollars for Is an extra one hundred pieces
As someone who always struggles with shelf space, i can’t say im upset by all of the scaled down models in recent years lol
I'm honestly disappointed. I think the minifigures look great, but the price is absolutely too much for what you get in the build. It looks incredibly small when compared to the previous versions, although I could just be biased to what I know. I wish Lego would provide some transparency as to what their thought process is when it comes to pricing. It feels like us Star Wars fans are being taken advantage of, especially when looking at the Home One midiscale, which has 2 more pieces than the Invisible Hand midiscale for 20 more dollars. I also agree with your sentiment about the product images. Love the vids and keep up the great work!
They’re 100% price hiking fans. It’s not a surprise. They charge whatever they think will sell and Star Wars fans are loaded.
@@viperson9818 That's true. I wish we could get the same quality/treatment as fans of other themes as well :(
Inflation, like he said
It's really not overpriced. The 2010 Set cost 89$ adjusted for Inflation, for over 100 pieces less. So just empiricaly speaking this new one is a much better deal. Sure it's smaller, but it's also much better designed. So you could argue that those faktors cancel each other out
@@Wastydest The piece count tells you nothing about value because new sets use much smaller pieces than old ones.
The last ARC170 weighed about 920 grams, while this one weighs 780 grams. So in terms of physical Lego the value is way worse.
Whether the more detailed design makes it worth the much smaller build, is up to opinion, but I think at the adjusted price, most people would prefer the older one.
This year has been crazy for me personally. The remake of the Imperial Dropship vs Rebel Speeder (one of if not my FIRST Lego/Star Wars set), a midiscale Millennium Falcon (I wanted one since the first one came out) and the remake of the ARC 170!
as someone with VERY limited shelfspace, I actually really appreciate them scaling down their sets a bit
the set is scaled down, but the price isn't...
What is inflation for $500, Alex
@@InhabitantOfOddworld 15 years later $10 more for a hundred more pieces...
compared to the 2010 version which is the same art count as the 2005 version yet costed $20 more
@@weik-2936
The 2010 set would be $86 in today's money
I'm sure someone said it already but the 2010 set retailed for $60, which is $87 today, this making this new one $17 cheaper
Expensive. I’m too broke to
*8:45* the 2010 Turbo tank will forever be the 🐐😎
why not 50$ man itd be perfect
Because of inflation
Selling this for $50 would put it in the same ballpark as Luke's Landspeeder from 2010
Lego would be making a loss on this set at that price
Definitely interested in seeing a modification video! I agree with you about the engines, and I’ve loved your previous mod videos
9:23 that’s what she said
Thanks for showing the technic mechanism.
Everyone ignores inflation. The new set costs less than the 2010 set for more pieces, arguably a better design, and better minifigure scale.
People, your dollar is physically worth less thanks to government spending. Get used to the fact you're paying a bigger number because each number has a lower value. Fiat currency doesn't have a set value carved in stone for eternity. Lego aren't ripping you off.
This is the truth right here. LEGO’s not the one here gouging.
Currency inherently has no actual value.
$72.38 would be valid for an ARC-170 like the one from 2010. Not what we are getting now
@@joeyminyardYou are getting over 100 pieces more though. Seems fair to me. Yes it's smaller, but it's also much better designed. So that really evens it out imo
@@silly_kitty170
No
The guns seem very small but other than that, the build seems great for this set. I’ve never had an Arc-170 so the scale doesn’t bother me that much. The more I see of this set, the more I like it!
70$ and not even getting printet cockpit pieces, should tell you all you need to know how LEGO sees you as a customer
The 2010 version was around $86 when adjusted for inflation, and it also had stickered cockpits.
The shrinkflation of lego is crazy
Those wing cannons though, wtf. On most depictions the cannons are almost as long as the nose, and quite chunky. These belong on a micro fighter.
This and when you add to it small scale and chubby proportion it makes it look like one of those 4+ sets
@@CoTroll Have you seen a 4+ set? Because, besides the wing cannons, nothing on this set looks like anything you'd see in a 4+ set.
The new Arc-170 looks amazing I really like how it looks I personally have no complaints.
Only things that off is the cannons are supposed to be a lot bigger
The 2010 set would be worth $86.86 today, I wish they made a 2010 sized $85 Arc 170 rather than this overgrown Microfighter. Also having an unamed clone pilot over an updated kit fisto is greatly disappointing.
Overgrown microfighter? It's barely smaller than the 2005 version! Also, the pilot lineup is completely accurate to Oddball’s ARC-170 in ROTS, so including a Jedi figure (in a ship that Jedi never pilot, I might add) would completely muck that up.
I think the 2005 is always gonna be my favorite of the ARC170s it’s got the scale just right, it’s fun to play with and fun to build it’s perfect
8:22 - Mind you, he got a freebie from the Lego group so how do you think he’s going to reply? *spoiler - just as you’d expect.
He criticized the price multiple times and the downscaling
Your reply is precisely why I posted my comment. It’s to bring to light that even if there is criticism within the review, because the OVERALL review was positive despite those criticisms- it’s still the age old adage of “the barbar is telling you that you need a haircut”.
@@mr.miniaturesmodels8465 well yeah it’s an opinion, go buy it yourself and make your own opinion or just don’t click the review and if you already have your mind made up why even click on a review
Opinion or sales pitch-baked-in-a-false-genuine “review”? Let me spell it out for you: He’s been GIFTED an advanced copy of an item. Do you really think he’s going to say “Nah, pass on this one”.. at the detriment of the advantage it would give his channel?
@ he regularly has before along with other Lego ambassadors, if you really care that much go watch someone else it ain’t allay
Build integrity and smaller is better to me. Bigger isn't always better, the most recent ISD and this ARC-170 proves it
Im sorry but its just too damn small and too damn expensive
I like this design, I prefer this scaled down version, I think it is closer to minifig scale. I honestly think the engines look a little small, but the way they are build I do like.
I find it criminal that MandR can't get early access too
Nah he’s annoying
Bro does not know the lore
@Clonehelmethole he's pretty popular tho...I just find it annoying that smaller UA-camrs or less interested in Lego or starwars get the sets instead of dedicated star wars UA-camrs
@@artbuy6027 me? I know the lore
Because he’s a liability to LEGO eyes. I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few LEGO executives despise him.
Thanks for this review David. It's important to talk about prices as Lego pricing is getting obnoxious. And Lego needs to know!
