I personally love the Scarab boats by Wellcraft. Forget specific roles - if you want any boat in any class they build, Scarab is awesome. It's the only boat I'd ever want to buy.
Those are Mercury #6 drives, which are a cleaver style prop. On plane, anywhere from a 1/5th to a 1/3rd of the prop is out of the water. They are considered "surface piercing" props.
Unreal, like a formula 1 car on water. I have a 21ft Wellcraft with a 5.0ltr but nothing in this league. One day maybe. Love your 38kv, keep it flat out.
No problem with the overall geometry of a #6 drive's prop location in relation to the rear pad, compared with the old geometry? Did you have to play around with various extension boxes, or did you just re-do the entire transom then mount the drives?
Hard to tell what this dude has under the hatches, chances are it's not the power added when built in '86 or '87. Back then, the standard motors from Mercruiser for the Scarab KV were around 400 HP, and that's being generous. Likely been repowered and now maybe even staggered. Once he got on plane that rooster tail loomed up, and I think the drives are surface piercing which generally accounts for that. Again, I'm speculating.
@Goodshaft Mr. Good shaft, there are many boat companies that run 120 PLUS. Today is the Tickfaw 200 and there will be many boats there in the 160 mph range. I dont know what youre trying to prove here or if you even know what youre talking about?? Given a powerful enough set of engines and the outdrives to handle them, this well craft that youre picking on can be made to run 120 as well.
That Boat is slow compae to a outerlimits hull. Outerlimits will go over 120MPH with triple motors. This Scarab is a out dated boat, and over priced as well !!
wonder they stopped making scarab...cauze all those fountains, donzi's, mti's and nor-tech put then to shame. I have a bow rider that could take this boat!
That is the best sounding boat i have ever heard...
