I have a godroll Riiswalker which has as second option smoothbore. I can get 100 range with it as well but never actually tryed it (Roll is Fullchoke, accurized, range mw, quickdraw Iron Reach) Pls dont judge me for using fullchoke even tho its nerved, I take what I get

Mained matador for a good couple months when it first came back, my roll was goofy asf had like smoothbore, light mag, pulse mon, and 1-2 punch lol it can't get vorpal so 1-2 punch came in clutch for low tier supers. If I had specifically went for a roll it'd probably be something like this
Matador is a good gun, but you have to get opening shot on it to be competitive against other shotty. But i have to agree, 1-2 punch is super fun in chill non tryhard pvp tho especially for deleting supers
Technically full choke opening is what’s important, opening adding +25 and full choke which add about 5% deducted from pellet spread. Opening shot , slide shot, killing wind, and firmly planted are the only perk the tighten pellet spread and with full choke the range is greatly increased. But with opening shot being buffed/ nerfed going from +20 to +25 it no longer pushes passes max range like slide shot or killing wind; so with opening shot and full choke all u need is 75 range to have The most constant 1 shot kill for shot guns, slide shot is great also but has and Inconvenient rebuff To pellet spread that last 2 seconds, while the range buff last 3 seconds then refreshes ; so slide wait shot for the gun to feel great . But killing wind since it’s the only range buff perk that requires a kill it actually can push past cap. 👀Food for thought
If you are good in this game mode you get penalized because they put a huge icon over your head that tracks you until you die. So enemy team can temashot at you or they can run and sit back teamshoting as well or just wait for you to die. That's been my experience so far in this game mode. They all play as a passive game mode, so boring to play destiny PvP nowadays. It used to be good...

The Matador i love using is a Tunnel Vision + Opening Shot, and with its range masterwork, its sitting at 95 range stat, it feels so good
I have a rifled range mw with acc rounds and golden tri so it’s like 95 total range the tunnel vision handling boost is so nice after a kill

It was +20, is now +25 so yes
It’s not unecessary if you need a follow up shot to kill the next person since opening shot has a cool down /reset time before it’s active again
