I'm Racing in the Audi TT Cup!

- I'm going to take part in the Audi TT Cup race at Hockenheim in October so in preparation I head down to the Audi Driving Experience Centre to get some valuable seat time in a TT Cup car.
This will be my first full race outing, and I can't wait for it after getting my race licence at the start of this year and working a number of awesome experiences since.
We start off in Neuburg an der Donau in the R8 V10 Plus to experiment with some driving technique before jumping into the Cup car to give it a full go!

+Miklas Krys no mate. we have to pay for a certificate of entitlement (coe). certificate itself is a $70-100k depending on class of cars. so add on with the market price that's the total value of your car. example.. Prius sets you back $150k. 2014 audi r8 is a cool $350k, stock.

You know you can go past the red line slightly. As studying engineering, you always leave a slight tolerance for safety. Although you'd have to look at a graph to see how much torque is available at that RPM to find out it that if faster.

Tim, you may want to learn to left foot brake, just saying it would cut the time it takes going from brake to throttle or throttle to brake and would shave considerable time off your laps.
on the road it is suggested to right foot brake as most cant moderate the brakes smoothly with their left foot but the left foot braking is the better technique.
in fact most people who sit in an F1 car find it weird because they've never tried and you have no choice but to left foot brake in the more modern cars (back in 91 they had 3 pedals and a stick, i dont know if it was done after that but i heard it was)
I still have a lot to learn. This is going to be my first race after a few experiences in race cars. :)

lozz0dnb might i add my very first car was a Hyundai Elantra, i learnt to drive manual in it, but i actually learnt to drive and operate the brake, gas and steering on my own at the age of 7, but ive improved my car control over the years not to mention you wouldnt believe me if i told you what i drive everyday nowadays.

If you can drive a front wheel drive car fast you can drive any car fast, they are the most technical and the most challenging but can be way fast then anything else if done right! Good luck and have fun!

Another good tip to use I think is to slam on the brakes and then release them slightly, also like Patrick said, bring the left foot out of redundancy

Braking with your right foot on paddle shifters? There are lot of techniques you are missing out on when doing that TIm :) especially in FWDs. Amazing experience man
This is going to be an awesome experience Tim. Ignore all the critics of your skills at this point. It's not your career. The object of this is to have a huge time and I know you will. If you decide to make a go of a full series in upcoming years, then you can get totally serious about racecraft and shaving milliseconds off lap times. In the mean time, hone the skills you already have and just have fun. I will be watching the race from here in the US. Give em Hell Shmee!!
Simulators can be very beneficial to help leant a circuit, braking points, lines and references etc. I know you must be a very busy man but if you are looking to take part in more races a home sim setup could be on the cards!
Anyway, best of luck in the race. To finish first, first you must finish 😊
