    LYRICS
This trail is obsidian, the grip of Winter uncoiled
    A lover would follow me
Cast down and sworn to the dark
Take the road where devils speak
    "God is dead"
    The wealth of darkness
    Inside you, tell you "now"
    Your senses corrupted
    Controlling a poisonous will
Take the road where devils speak
    "God is dead"
In the corner of my eye
You are tearing flesh from bone
Led the blind in search to find
    A pathway to the sun
    Saw the signs intertwine
And forgave me all my sins
    No stigmas revealing our vices
And there are no stigmas revealing our vices
    God is dead

Fact is, both sides of this endless Opeth debate are fucking idiotic. Those who like Heritage and PM call anyone who disagrees "moronic metalheads", while the metalheads call the other side "pretentious" or "fanboys who will buy anything with the Opeth name on it". Fact is, we're all entitled to our own outlook and tastes. Why I have to even point this out is beyond me.

They always put out great music. They new album is is phenomenal too. These guys are like a modern day heavy Metal ELP or even Rush. They have consistently pushed the boundaries of music every album. So well written, the guitars are some of the best in music the keys are like a through back too the early prog rock days. They have down it all Progresses Metal Rock, jazz, Blues even tons of classical component. They have been around fonr a long time. they need to keep it fresh. They inspire me to want to jam out again. Just listening to them makes me a better drummer & song writer. Hope they are around as long as possible.

The guitar solo at the very end of this track, although short, to me is one of the best and greatest guitar solo ever performed. There is so much tension in it, makes me feel like I’m trapped at the core of a violent rising tornado that flips me over helplessly until I fall into the heart of a volcano. Absolutely amazing, in just a few seconds. I never get tired of listening to that part.. BRAVO Fredrick !!

So many state their thoughts as fact. This album is better than that album. These vocals are not as cool as those vocals. There's no comparison, this guitar riff can't match up to that guitar riff. Blue is better than red, obviously. Yellow is worse than green. Come on, just either enjoy the music, or enjoy some other kind of music you like. Someone liking something that you don't like doesn't make what they like "bad" and doesn't make them stupid or have bad taste. To imply otherwise is ignorance wrapped in arrogance. Can we not appreciate both prog and brutal crushing metal?

Been a fan of there's for like six or so years. They are amazing live! Saw them when they came over to Melbourne in May 2015.

Opeth is way better at composition. Dream Theater literally writes albums by just jamming out together. Overall, I think Opeth is the better band.

I just started listening to Opeth. This album is entertaining, but honestly it feels like they should have changed the band's name for it, because it sounds so different. It is like Deep Purple, and Yes had a baby.

It is closer to the old stuff but, in my opinion, I did not like Heritage as much as I liked Pale Communion or Sorceress. I still listen from time to time but idk...

I don't think I'm much of a fan of PC, but I love Heritage and what I've heard from Sorceress so far (haven't gotten around to listening to the whole thing yet). I just think it's interesting to see just how much they've changed. When Heritage came out everybody flipped out because of how different it sounded, but I think it sounds more like what came before than what came after.

Strongest album by far due to the strong influences of that golden 70's Prog era.

You see..in the metal world their are people that are so grim they only consider "death vocals and corpse paint" as the only viable form of heavy. So they cry about how Opeth progresses while still waiting for Burzum to put out another album.

One of the reasons people enjoy progressive metal is for its lyrical content. Most progressive songs have a story to them. I(among many others) find pleasure in analyzing songs and discovering their meaning. If you mean why are people bitching about the change of style? I would refer you yo what Andrew West so skillfully summarized.

as an Opeth fan of 5 years back (I'm 19), this album is only a natural evolution of their sound; I LOVE death metal and it's awesome when the play songs such as When and Blackwater Park live, but this album sounds truly like them and it's extremely awesome, we as fans should not be so judgmental about this.

hell yeah dude, i just found them about two weeks ago. they've quickly become one of my favorites, sabbath and floyd, with beatles like melodies. do you know of any other bands like bigelf? i havent really found no one up to their standard. somebody told me about opeth, and another band called ghost, so far im pretty happy with them. but like i said, bigelf seems to be in a category all by themselves. there's just something about them fat riffs and that heavy hammond.

Does anyone else just get some kind of magical feeling when listening to this song and the overall album Heritage? I can't compare it to anything, never mind anything Opeth have done before, but this is the case with pretty much every album. But there is just... something... about this album that really grabs me and refreshes me from all the other music around and I feel anew when I hear this and let it flow through me (it literally feels as if it is for me). Mikael Akerfeldt truly is a genius.

Wasn't a fan of this album when I first got it the day it dropped in stores. It's slowly growing on me. As much as I love the "classic" Opeth sound, this material is still awesome. Truly progressive mindset. Love it.
