- "Madaling Araw" is a composition of Filipino Francisco Santiago with lyrics by Jesus Balmori and Jose Corazon De Jesus. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful art song-kundimans of the Philippines and was written during the country's American Period.
Movie Scoring: It was used as the theme for a 1938 movie of the same title produced by Sampaguita Pictures which starred singer-actors Elsa Oria and Ely Ramos
About the Song: (From the CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art, vol. 6, p. 250)
Sisters Larissa and Amanda Maestro-Scherer from Ithaca, New York sang this Filipino classic in 2003.

They love the FIlipino songs ... and they chose this one to sing at the memorial service for their grandmother ten years ago, knowing that she would love it. Funny thing, ten years later, they say they wouldn't be able to sing this anymore, don't think they can hit those high notes like they once did.

They're really good, awesome!!! The piano accompaniment committed mistakes, though. But their voices r really angelic. I hope they sing more kundiman songs. I'll be the one to play the pisno. :)
