Radiohead - Sit Down. Stand Up. [Glastonbury 2003]

- Radiohead, at Glastonbury Festival in 2003, playing "Sit Down. Stand Up.".
By 2003 most people had accepted the idea that it was no longer possible to crash the festival and hence it is recognised as one of the most successful years to date. The number of tickets available to the public was increased slightly over 2002, partially in response to criticism that the 2002 festival was underpopulated and lacked atmosphere. The tickets sold out within one day of going on sale, in marked contrast to the two months it took to sell a similar number in 2002. It was also the first year that tickets sold out before the full lineup was announced.
This was also the year Radiohead returned to headline the Pyramid Stage.
Revenue raised for good causes from ticket and commercial licence sales topped £1 million, half of which went to Oxfam, Greenpeace and Water Aid.
I have every single Radiohead album, EP, and rarities disc...and I truly believe that Sit Down Stand Up is by far the most underrated song they've recorded.
so
@@lolispopen ha ha good one david only, 9 years later
@@zirkag99 my man David, an incredible comedian
For me its Sit Down Stand Up, along with Faust Arp and Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief
Don’t forget Codex.
came here just to see if it was possible to play this song live, left impressed. Best band ever.
hear hear!
one of the best things about their live performances
they even recreate the synthesized sounds live as opposed to playing a track
the raindrops x48
Hi king 👑
Power rangers
radiohead represents earth's band if we had to choose someone
Seems oddly western-anglo centric of you, would Ethiopians, Koreans and Indians agree with you?
anus that’s ones easy - yes
@@JJ-ls6el if they heard radiohead, yes
@@JJ-ls6el North african here, they have my approval
hahahah so true
Not one shot of Colin Greenwood on that awesome bass line!
Whoever shot this should be ashamed.
My 20 yr old Son and I have a common appreciation of Radiohead. We occasionally send each other Radiohead tracks we particularly like and I just sent him the studio version of this. We both immediately zoned in on the intricate interplay between the bass runs and drums at the 3min mark. Brilliant musicianship at its finest.
I'll write a comment 10 years too late but the constant gradual intensity if this song is insane
This song is so fucking good it kills me. Those vocal melodies are gorgeous and this performance is magic.
Pretty sure that Thom can see and smell the music.
People saying they're underwhelmed by the 'drop' in this, I think it's hard to translate how good live sound is compared to a compressed audio file on a video. The absence of low end during the whole build up until Colin's bass kicks in would be extremely impactful live
I always love it when Thom freaks out!
all my insane thoughts collide wisely with this song .
he makes music the most perfect way it could possibly be done
The motherfuckin raindrops
and the rain drops
sorry thom, haven´t heard you. the rain what??
watching this with headphones on just sends me into a state of awe, goosebumps all over.
Did anyone notice the picture on Thom's piano of the late Sidney James? I love the anticipation and build up to the explosion at the end, with the rain drops...
I love this song so much, but I lost it at 3:54
I always come back to Radiohead. And again, this is the song and album. Like the truth gets smashed in your face all at once. Brilliant. Love you guys. You made a lot of times a lot less lonely. Live long.
✌️❤️🤝
yes i find that most performances of this song are a little weak, i think because the studio version is very bass driven, but i suppose its hard to achieve such a sound when playing live.
You're is You and Are together.
Your is one word.
Used in sentence:
"You are (You're) very nice"
"Is this your football?"
Damn you were insufferable 14 years ago my man
walllllllllk into the jaws of helllll...anytimeeeeee....
power rangers
they are so creative with every instrument they have.. including Thom's voice. ugh. just...so...good!
I have mixed feelings about live versions of Sit down.stand up.
I think the rest of the song leading up to the end is alot cooler live, but i think the end loses alot without all the other loops and stuff that happens on the record.
It's still unbearably amazing though.
On another topic this song is fucking amazing. This performance - one of their best.
theraindropstheraindropstheraindrops
just magical....
I'm pretty sure Thom is actually doing a rain dance here! If it ever started raining while they were performing this song, I would absolutely believe that he made it happen.
For a long time I was listening to the rest of Radiohead's stuff but just couldn't be bothered with Hail to the Thief. I'd looked at this album on Itunes and stuff but nothing grabbed me so I left it alone for a long time. Then I saw this performance...
AMO ver a thom yorke alocadoo...
es un genioooo por dios!!!
NADAAA COMO RADIOHEAD
To this day one of the hardest radiohead songs to listen to.. i was in a terrible state when hail to the thief was released
Yoh that was awesome, despite Thom having an epileptic fit at the end :D
I actually think the shitty quality adds to the atmosphere of this
Fuking amazing when they play it live!
that piano sounds incredible
This is surprisingly great live
2:31 - end is simply AMAZING!
You totally fail for saying that Thom is cheesy in ANYTHING that he does...he is on a level that many will never understand and most will never attain.
I really hope they play this in their next tour because I will 100% be at one of their gigs and I would love if they played this and kept myxomatosis in the set list
I love the bassline at the end.
This song is awesome!!!
gah, magnificent!
Sit down
Stand up
Sit down
Stand up
Walk into the jaws of hell (sit down)
Walk into the jaws of hell (stand up)
Anytime (sit down)

Rather underrated song
Real Life... Real Magic ♾️🔥

3:55 OMG He looks brilliaant!
One of the best eva
Fantastic!!!!!!!
disagree with the thumbs down on this comment its just opinion ( personaly i think the raindrops bit is the best part of the song again opinion)
the best thing about radiohead is that u can take your own enjoyment out each of there songs ther so layered and origional
So so good!!!
❤❤❤❤❤
i like the words of this song ^^
magnifica cancion!!!!!!
magnifico piano sonando de una manera epica!!
con jonny ejecutando ese sonido tenebroso
no es sorpresa es R A D I O H E A D

Responda en este comentario....
Second that motion. LCCC was a great show and what weather!
me too! LCCC! Incredible.
A great song and performance. Who recognises the picture of the late Sid James(R.I.P.), on Thom Yorke's piano?
OH YEAH!!
this sons is fucking amazing!!!
really good call. awesome :D
Another one of those songs that I hated.... until I started listening to it more.... then loved it.
トム大好き~!!!
how's about we just enjoy the music!
❤️
@katenzcool hmm..strange. Because i remember reading something about him having a picture of his son on top of the piano as he was playing at THIS Glastonbury Festival.
Me hizo bailar por la noche XD
It's Sid James from the Carry On films, with a (I think stuck on) crown, giving the thumbs up. It was on deadairspace, weird though, really weird.
the raindrops!
hahaha that guy who shouts "ELLLOO!" at the beginning
Finally some recognition
a comment like that deserves deep appreciation
gran cancion!!
que dice/grita al final??
Wonderful Song!
What says/shouts he in the end?
Anyone know who that person in the picture is on Tom's piano?
His son, Noah
@@Zedetnik Thanks fella. That is great it is his son.
THEY make! ;)
who thinks thom's dancing is awful but adorable?
3:54 = THOM IS THE GREAT CORNHOLIO.
@94greenfreak no its not. It's a picture of this very famous comedian, that he keeps a picture of near his piano. Thom himself has said that the picture helps him to play the piano.
Está loco xdd
looks a bit like bjork
HAHAHA at 2:04 theres a picture of this funny looking guy on the piano, he helps Thom play the piano.
If the second half of the song had been better quality I’d say it would a bigger song
@LewisofEngland So I'm not the only one...
@MIKEDURSTEWITZ
nope. not since the Hail to the Thief tour ended in 2004.
KING OF LIMBS
i m so drunk. that's song so very fucking special now
unless there is a guy named kanye west who is a drunk, living on the streets, who had his private parts amputated, beated his wife and kids, and has 3 days to live from cancer....yes, i have to agree with you, kanye west the singer is the best kanye west of all time.
Well, yes - Except if we put it to a vote I fear One Direction would win and the rest of the universe will quite rightly destroy us all...
That was me!!! No just joking, but real funny.
@ChicoPereiraReis Lmao everytime I see this I imagine him dancing singing powerrangerpowerrangerspowerrangerspowerrangers-you're a legend!
Hail to the Thief is streets ahead of what they've made since and yet you wouldn't think so based on the millenial perennials.
Anytimmmmmmmmmmmmmmme
dont we all :)
I think he says "1 2 3 4" to stop the song !
i just watched it, great recommendation by the way. that dance was even horrible but in a good way :)
@19yellowsubmarine Thom... how can't you recognize him ??
Whats that picture on the piano?
i don't like the bit at the end where it kicks in. it's too weak. Does anyone else agree? it should go hectic but doesn't, maybe it's the video.
scik
thom? he's just dancing i think, he's pushing the microphone away from himself though it does slightly appear look like he's holding something else
I ask again, who is the guy in the picture?????
ITS THOM YORKE!
