I love all these starters equally but you really want cyndaquil bc there’s so little fire Pokémon in this game. Plenty of decent grass and water like vile plume, victorybell and red Gyarados, lapras etc. Lots of people saying and appreciating Heracross and ampharos lately, and they are great and native to this game, but you don’t really need them i definitely used others growing up. Definitely appreciating them now though a lot more.

If you look at older forums and stuff those pages were filled with where are the good fire Pokémon posts. Bc there was so little. Heart gold and soul silver (the remakes) made it a little bit easier getting some than the original gold and silver
no just get another pokemon to use as a tm slave. i recommend sentret u get it pretty early and when evolved to furret at lvl 15 it learns pretty much all the tms like surf, cut, and headbutt
It depends on what you're looking for. If you want a more offensive threat, then Fearow it is as he learns Drill Peck. However, Crobat is efficient in taking down opponents with wither confusion or poison and it's much faster.
Note: you get charizard and the gen 3 starters after beating the elite four and beat all kanto gym leaders you will meet steve while trying to beat them you can now have the power to catch latias
I’m so serious about the advice of getting a Heracross! You need it to defeat Gym Leader Whitney! She is or was the brick wall of not letting you explore other areas!
I disagree a bit. You want to catch a Geodude for the Falkner fight when it learns rock throw and you want a ghastly to grind on the normal types you find with zubat.
You’re definitely right. The early rock throw makes the first gym a joke although it’s pretty easy anyways. One other possible solution basically the same idea is to trade your bellsprout for that guys onyx. (Rocky) he also learns rock throw early on and even better gets extra experience points from being traded.
Tentacruel is an underrated gem! I'd go for a moveset like this: Surf Ice Beam Toxic/Toxic Spikes Sludge Bomb Though there's a lot you can do with him. A Toxic/Wrap combination is fun to use early - mid game!
Catch geodude and use self destruct and milk that beef💀

once i get Entei, Typhlosion goes in the PC lol
I do the same unless I get my boy raikou. I then put ty in PC when I get magcargo or houndoom for endgame
