Nick, I'm so glad you had the expertise and dedication to bring your fish back to good health! I love the fact that you are doing your part to keep endangered species alive. What a great contribution to this world you are! I admire your ability and knowledge to breed fish. I have no desire to do that myself but, good on you for doing so. Enjoy watching your videos and look forward to seeing more. Keep up the good work!

I'm so glad you posted this. Things happen that are either out of our control or even from our own mistakes. I nearly killed one of my guppies in an accident I don't even want to mention because it was really stupid. I beat myself up over it for days. It's good to see people admitting that it happens to them. So glad he's doing fine now.

Oh man, poor little guy. I bet you're going to be checking them all like a hawk now! Non fish people just can't understand how upset&stressed we can get over a sick or injured favourite fish. Storm season is defo here, I'm in Canberra, we just had half a 30m gum tree from our backyard fall on our garage during the last storm. The SES were epic, not too much damage thankfully and just missed the house. Everyone stay safe!

I am grateful to have found your videos. Definitely subscribed ! I love Pleco’s and find them to be very interesting, but my own personal experience with only one I purchased from our local petsmart, was an eye opener! Definitely my fault for not researching the kind of pleco it was… as I had ever only seen small ones in friends or families tanks and of course the pet store. well, that pleco grew tremendously and outgrew my 200gallon tank in 2 years. I donated him to a local rescue that mainly deals with turtles and koi. They were very pleased to have him and I’ve visited a few times over the last few years and he is so massive! I couldn’t believe that a tiny $29.99 Pleco could grow into such a huge fella! He gets moved with the koi into their beautiful spacious koi pond in summer. He’s definitely living his best life! 💖

Good to hear that, Next time if a similar situation arises with some other fish, you can black out the bottom of the fry box with a vinyl or spray paint which keeps them calm (as it's transparent whenever you walk past doing your maintenance or sort, they get stressed out easily) this is a small piece of information that might be helpful and keep the fish feel secure in such cases when they're already stressed out.

"It's storm season, here Australia." It's just for Queensland and the Northern Territory! Also, because it has been raining lately, leave a big tub outside in the rain for free water! Also, just let the rams look after their fry, that way, they will probably survive!

Its a UPS, you should measure or calculate the watts on what you are going to plug there, to know how much time you cant get without power, calculate, than choose the right VA's UPS, just to avoid bad surprises , and an advice, 3 or 4 times a year when doing the fishroom maintenance unplug it from power to discharge and cicle the batterys , cheers from Portugal, and btw, amazing work with that fishroom 😀

I use vinegar eels for my ram fry . The eels can live for a week in freshwater. I put lots of eels in and it's a constant food source for them. I've had good luck that way.

When I was using battery back ups, they needed to plugged directly into the wall outlet to work properly. I had my pump always plugged into it at all times and the back up would kick on or off as needed automatically.

I have a tip i used on my rams fry. You pould the young fry to big. They need to be in a smaller container. If the fish raise the fry they keep them in a tight spot as well. Just a much smaller container with not much flow so they find the food faster and don't need to waste energie by swimming. They i put them larger once they eat baby brine for a couple of days.

Don't beat yourself up too much, we've all done it. I lost one of my favorite fish wedging him behind a filter. Was only a Dwarf Gourami but I loved that fish and felt so guilty but accidents as they say happen. Just makes us more careful going forward.
As always a great and honest video (with added pores 😆).

did you ever get this L046 to breed ? , better off just moving that LP-100 pump somewhere else and run them directly from battery its only 100w and a cheap 300w inverter handles them just fine , then get a battery system that can handle at least 2 days without power

  • @tvideo1189

Just a suggestion on your Ram fry that you said you were losing because of feeding issues. You can put a TON of Micro worms and/or Banana worms in that tank and they will live a very long time (days). And you really don't need to have them in a flow-through breeder box when they are really small... it just washes out the food. I have raised Rams many times and would actually consider them one of the easier fish to raise from eggs away from the parents. Put them in a small container without flow through, change the water with large changes at every opportunity, and the fry should do well.

Fish heal up pretty quick, I once had a Sterbai cory with pretty much no tail. My corys used to squeeze under a long piece of wood to the other side a lot under sand and the only think I can think that happened was it cut its tail or something which became infected and came off as I just noticed one day a Cory looked like it was all head and it didnt have a tail, in about 10 days the tail completely regrew to normal full colour and everything, every day it grew noticably like probablly 1mm per day or something.
I always still wonder what happened to that tail as another fish wouldn't have bitten it or anything as it was so flat and clean off right at the base and I only have small fish so they never ate it, also it was never sick or nothing even with no tail it swam and ate as normal.

Nick, it’s horrible when you realise you’ve an injured one. Yes it’s a worry coz they’re dam expensive but moreso it’s the worry about losing one of you fish babies. They aren’t like cats or dogs where we can suss out injuries or illnesses a lil more easily. With fish it’s super hard especially if not a specific injury which luckily you kinda knew what had caused it here.
The “mo” looking quite swank there for MO-v ember but I do prefer you with out… 😉
And no comments about me being a MILF or cougar saying ok viewers …I’m just stating a comment lol
