I absolutely love budget friendly knives that are simple yet sexy. You know they aren’t wasting money on gimmicks while still having a great looking and working knife
Any chance CRKT could offer these in a UK friendly slip joint? The design (like with UK friendly Spydercos) looks like it could safely work as a slip joint without the risk of folding back on you.
needs a ziptie mod on the deployment hole and reverse the pocket clip to tip up so you can deploy the blade as it comes out of your pocket nice video love the channel man
The Late Boy Scout - How does this knife compare to the Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite in your opinion? The two knives seem to have several features in common... but there is enough difference that one might want both.
The Late Boy Scout - Very nice to know. Thank you kindly. I like the look of the belly on the Pilar's blade... but I'm not sure if the extra weight is worth that feature.
Piller? I say Pee-lar, but whatever! I happen to be fondling mine as I watch your video and I love this little thing. . I wish it came with a G-10 or CF front scale for increased traction and lighter weight. I have several Voxnaes knives (Amicus compact, Noma compact, Vizzle) and like them pretty well.
Its pronounced with a hard I sound. Like the I sound in high. The way he pronounced it would be correct if it had 2 l's like Pillar. I know. I'm being picky over nothing. Sorry.
@@nickkraakman9579 well they're $40 in u.s now (thats what it was at lowes and also listed in CRKTs website). Not sure if the price just went up of or they made any enhancements to it since 2017
I hate how you Americans get these knives so cheap! Here in the U.K the same knife costs me £35 ($40). I don't understand. I know shipping cost's come into it but that's a pretty hefty mark up.
American pricing is always a bit of a con, because they never include sales tax. You go into a store and buy something, think "That's a great price!" and end up paying a lot more at the checkout because, unlike with VAT here in the UK they don't include sales tax in the marked price.
@@gunscratch It still wouldn't equate to $40, here in the US. Part of the reason Sales tax isn't included, sales tax is different from State to State. With Florida's sales tax added on, this knife is $24.78 US
Josh B yeah, that’s true. I seem to remember paying zero sales tax in New Hampshire about 30 years ago. All this stuff is relative though, generally incomes are slightly lower in the US, and you guys don’t get the same amount of paid holidays that employees get in Europe. But it is frustrating when companies like Apple just swap the $ sign for £. Not so bad when there’s near parity but piss taking when it was $1.40 to the £.
@@gunscratch yeah, I take 1 paid vacation a year and I try to take it during a holiday when the company is giving everyone a day or 2 off. For our national holidays, we typically get 1 or 2 days off, typically 1 day.
This has quickly become one of my favorite EDC knives, especially for that price.
Isn't it pronounced Pee-lar, as in La Pilar? Hemingway's boat, his nickname for Pauline, and the character in For Whom the Bell Tolls?

I'm not generally a small blade guy but for some reason I want this one

Just got 1 today in England

Absolutely love mine!
Just got it, it's stiff to deploy and the lock is hard to access one-handed. It does feel good in the hand, love the finger choil.
If you want one with a better blade steel BladeHQ has the regular one in D2 and the larger one in D2 as well.

It's heavier by a good measure, but otherwise really comparable for utility use.

Man that thing looks like a tank. Looks like it can handle a lot.
It's about 91$ Here in Canada
where in canada? its 35 bucks in vancouver
$35. In Quebec.. (canadian tire)
Compare it to the Bestech Imp or Goblin. A similar style knife except half the weight, better steel and ceramic bearings.
And both knives you mention are about $150+ at BHQ. No comparison. So they better have better everything.

If this was assisted flipper (assisted due to short blade opening) with deep carry clip that would be awesome
Yeah a black stone wash 😀
the CF version is much lighter. i love the fingerchoil for a four-finger grip.
can you compare it to the kettlebell from the gerber
The tip is clearly strong, but were you wishing for a finer point when carving?
be good if it came as a multitool ... really miss their gekkota.
I'm looking for this exact knife but American made with better steel, what do you recommend?
It is 50sgd here in singapore
To me, the blade has a Santoku shape
I've had mine now 3 years, not liking it "very stiff " deployment also heavy for its size..
What does CRKT have against light weight knives? Seriously, nice designs but always using cheap materials that add up to a lot of weight.
You associate weighted with cheapness?
25$ ????? Oh lord it's over priced in Sweden. We have to pay dubble up for that same knife.
Lfomod yeah i know i gotta pay 45 euro’s for that
Imagine getting mine in copper. Love it but 80 bucks. Lol. Love it.

Do they come in a bigger size? I must have this anyway. I'm horrible with knives. I now understand women and their shoe addiction.
Bath Water CRKT brought out a large version a few weeks ago. I think it’s running about $45.
How much for the fork? I’ll pay top dollar.
Email me if you really want it: thelateboyscout@gmail.com
I thought I saw these were made in Taiwan?
China claims Taiwan as part of its territory under its "One China Principle".
No lock?
Technically, the blade shape that the Pilar features is a sheep's foot.
Good to know I like it
Very good

Try South America we are pretty close and yet it cost almost 100 just to get the damned thing here. If there is any option though.

Same to you.
Pill-R
This Guy is getting them cheap there all above 40 euro’s in my country
These are $40 in U.S now. Also Looks like the price went sometime between when this review was done and a year or so ago.
Made in China?
Yes
Yes.. He said that in the review.
I thought it was made in the USA but I should have known better, almost bought this knife.
Was Loving it till I heard "8cr13mov" 👎😝
well it is a 25-22$ knife
Wtf I paid 55 dollars
Yours might be the version with better steel.
