Wow, I been sharpening blades for years, with a bench grinder, I do it professionally, and wow I have never seen a great edge that quickly and perfectly, I will have to look into this machine, I am impressed.
I have a guy that works for me that has been in the business for 32 years telling me he can do it better with a grinder and it only took me one blade to show him how uneven they are sharpen, unbalanced and how round the edges were on his blade. Now we did use his blade and it worked but I notice doing it my way we didn't have to replace blades as much. We both mow the same lawns and about the same amount of time. He needed 3 sets of blades after 4 months and I was still looking great with all my blades. Mine were still perfect to the edge. Weird details i am still learning after having this machine over a year and how much money it's saving me and how easy it is to sharpen and balance 9 blades everyday and changed in under 15 minutes.
awesome brother. I used mine once and sent it back it came damaged in shipping so I still had to use it and try it. hopefully my new one will be in soon.
Richard's Property maintenance I was lucky mine worked. This why I hate to buy online because shipping takes to long. I paided for it I want it today and if it don't work I return it today.
All American Sharpener is MUCH cheaper and does a FANTASTIC job... just need an angle grinder and some flapper discs... Perfect 30* angle every time. Not a paid shill, just a fellows one man show lawn service guy giving an honest opinion....
$430 list price. I wonder how much maintenance it requires. Wheel dressing, wheel replacement, etc. I like that it pushes the grind back into the heavy part of the blade, where the heat has less chance of building up to dangerous levels. A number of sharpeners I've looked at seem to ignore that concern.
I have now used this for over a year and just replaced the wheel for $35.00. After using it I have learned more things. I sharpen my blades everyday so I now just run the blades over it two or three times and it's sharp and then balance it. By changing blades everyday I can do it in less time yes and it takes time to take off mower but in the end the blades are sharp everyday and very easy to keep up. I sharpen and change blades in under 10 minutes. I feel it's worth the time. I have not done any maintenance to the machine other then the new wheel. This machine is worth every penny spent. I thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I'm going to do a update on things I learned. Any of these blade grinders are not as easy as everyone makes them to be. I'm just being honest learn and keep going. Thanks for checking the video out.
Del's Lawn Care I agree man. After a half dozen sets I'm really digging my Oregon. Took some to learn and make adjustments. Lot of folks gave me good tips to sharpen better. I feel like gloves are a danger tho. Too easy to catch. Thoughts? Just Curious
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I wish I had social media 8 years ago to watch and get tips. I agree with gloves you have to be careful and dangerous but I burned my hand trying to sharpen a blade that I got a dent from a rock that I swear jumped out of no wear. I will admit i was trying to sharpen 43 blades and maybe got in a rush and not thinking.
There is no option to change the angle on this grinder. This is why I got this one so employees don't try to change things and make things harder then they have to be. The video was to show the product. Thanks for watching.
Fred Smedley yes but it's little tricky. I'll do close up on how I do it when I do my little video on checking the balance of blades. Maybe tomorrow I could have this video up just so everyone see the good and bad of doing mulch blades.
They claim you can do 150. Well I turn it over and use other side. I Sharpen between 400 and 500 blades per season and I only buy one disc per season. After so long it does take longer to get the blade sharp.
@@kithathaway3913 I really don't think were you buy it matters. Find a store that gives free shipping. Also because I'm not into sales check out the All American Sharpener is MUCH cheaper and does a FANTASTIC job one guy said in a review on here. No I wont say it's a bad machine and yes it's half the price. But please check out both machines maybe it will help you with your buy.
The Oregon I had years ago was slow yes but fast enough to sharpen blades. In the video I think the RBG-712 is the perfect speed to get the edge you might be looking for with out over heating the blade. To much heat is not good for the blade.
I sharpen by hand and mine are perfect. You could shave with them when I’m done. I sharpen my blade every 5-6 cuts. Totally obsessive. Sharpening freehand is a skill. Plenty of knife makers grind freehand and it isn’t wavy. Now for employees you have to make it idiot proof. All the equipment I buy for my business is focused on being easy to use with very little training.

Does banging it on the sharpener after every pass help sharpen it or?

Del's Lawn Care yes ik I hate that also when I want something I want it now lol. I hate waiting to. it is a nice sharpener for the money.
All American Sharpener is MUCH cheaper and does a FANTASTIC job... just need an angle grinder and some flapper discs... Perfect 30* angle every time. Not a paid shill, just a fellows one man show lawn service guy giving an honest opinion....
You got that right. Plus, your blade doesn't slam down on the tool rest when you pull the blade off the wheel.
Looks sharp!
nice but very expensive. I can't afford one of those. I have a $70 bench grinder. yous sharpens so nice. maybe one day
$430 list price.

Del's Lawn Care I feel ya. Ya they do get hot sometimes. Looks good tho! Well done
Good video but is this about a sharp edge or the correct angle. Also what is the option for different angles on blades?
There is no option to change the angle on this grinder. This is why I got this one so employees don't try to change things and make things harder then they have to be. The video was to show the product. Thanks for watching.
To get one of these can it be bought over the counter or is it a special order item where do l find one?
Sounds like a better sharpener. Organ grinder. LOL! Way to go Jeremy! Gets both sides real good. It gets an 8. Common sense is the thing these days.
POPUP yes sir. I do thank you for watching
Always a pleasure Del.
I love the concept but my blades are too curvy
Grass Daddy I do agree the Honda blades are the hardest but I was able to sharpen them twice just took more time then I wanted.
Can you sharpen the Scag mulch blades on that?
Fred Smedley yes but it's little tricky. I'll do close up on how I do it when I do my little video on checking the balance of blades. Maybe tomorrow I could have this video up just so everyone see the good and bad of doing mulch blades.
They actually make a mulch blade attachment for that machine
What site did you buy it on?
How long do the disks last ? How many blades can you sharpen?

Del's Lawn Care thanks for responding. I’m really thinking about making the investment. Do you recommend anyone to purchase a 712 from ?

Is it fast? I am a JD dealer and my guys says the Oregon grinder is to slow. Thanks

Looks like a great sharpener for my Gator Blades. How much does this sharpener cost?
markthomasbuilder $389.00
Thanks!
markthomasbuilder you can buy a kit for $450 that is a killer deal.
Did you say the 7" was big enough 😂
East side of Michigan
Turn on Bench grinder. 2-3 passes on each end, balance if required, turn off Bench Grinder, Done.
Yeah I could buy a lot of blades for 600
and then you'll continue to buy blades long after the 600.
can buy many new blades for what you have to pay for this grinder
I agree but with as many blades as I sharpen in a week this unit has saved me thousands.
check out blade wizard
Dude I like your video but gloves on the grinder is an all-time no no
Bull shit
I agree. Gloves operating any machines is stupid.
They don't sell them no more
8
your video six...can't see the blade edge because of poor lighting. didn't show any part of the grinding head, etc
Check out the edge of a brand new blade, they are not that sharp.
he said organ grinder ha ha ....... ha....ha.............ha
folks....don't wear gloves while operating any type of spinny ma thing type of equipment
