So many things can be said about the day. Ultimately, Jim grabbed the 100K American Record in 6:09:25, but came up shy of the world record by just 11 seconds. He poured his heart into it and anyone watching felt for him. I think Jim knows better than anyone that setting BIG goals means there will be times when you come up short. I like what Camille Herron said today "Every setback is a setup for a comeback." Let's go JIM!

Thanks Ben for a great video and sharing both race highlights and athlete details. Should be epic and a battle Walmsley vs. Hawks. Will be interesting so see x-factors like nutrition play a role. Also fun to watch what Tyler Andrews will do. Camille Heron should race well on the women's side.

Absolutely, so many of these athletes haven't had a chance to test their fitness in so long I think they are chomping at the bit. The exceptions would be Hayden and Camille who just came off of JFK 50 a couple months ago. I know Jim's been training with Tyler, so will be fun to see what he can do.
Whenever we talk about ultra distances many factors play a role, like nutrition. To hit a record, everything will have to be dialed in. I think Jim will be well primed since Phoenix is only 2 hours from his house and he grew up there, so he has a bit of home court advantage and can forego the stress of traveling.

Hayden Hawks posted on IG a picture of the course. Looks like it will be at PIR (Phoenix International Raceway)?
