I sold my RSV about 8 years ago and really regret it. I’m looking to get another. You’re right about it being an everyday bike. The mille and RSV1000R are amazing bikes. I had to sell this bike not much longer after this video and loved it so much I bought it back last month. Been in love since day one
Mine did it once. I’ve since torn the whole bike down and rebuilt it and it never did it again. Throttle bodies were filthy. Everything was filthy actually. Lol. (09’ RSV 1000 R)
All Things Automotive it just depends on your mech experience. If you’ve worked on cars and bikes for a while, it’s nothing. The thing to be cautious of on an Aprilia is any electrical connections and the wiring harnesses. They’re notoriously touchy. And while you’re at it and you have the air box off, it’s a good idea to calibrate your engine vacuum settings both front and back. Makes a big difference in torque when they’re equalized. Peace!
All Things Automotive Here’s a link to a .pdf for the service manual. It’s for the RSV Factory but pretty much the same for the 1000 R and Tuono. www.manualslib.com/manual/363593/Aprilia-Rsv-1000-R-Factory.html
man my aprilia was an absolute dream but lately its been giving me charging issues and ive replaced stators and rectifiers the loom is my last hope imma be pissed if this doesnt work out
Sorry to hear that. I love these bikes so much. I would check all your wiring connections on the fuses. Had a few loose wires on mine, might help you out a bit
Coollino HD Hello. My stator has failed three times. It once took out the reg/rec and battery too. The fix is to buy the 370watt rotor and remove the 500watt. The 500w creates too much charge and fries itself while overloading the system. It’s an expensive fix but if you are buying and fitting new standard stators frequently you can soon spend the same amount as the permanent fix would cost (2004-7, they went back to 370watt in 2008, I believe). See the UA-cam video made byGriff Woolley) at Aprilia performance UK for more information on this.
I know I'm 2 years late but, I currently have a vfr800 and I've been offered an RSV1000R (non factory, just regular) you think it'll be too much of a step up?
@@lordofbiscuits1911 oh I didn't even realized you saw this lol. I ended up trading my VFR for the RSV but haven't had a chance to take it on a ride. hopefully I will soon

Love the RSVs such amazing bike and sounds. Sad to hear about the RSV4 and even the VFR, I heard they were good. I've been thinking of buying another RSV1000R.
@Marius S. ok thought they may have moved to the v4. You will love that bike, the v twin engine is amazing. The only problem I've had with my bike was loose engine mounting bolts. I recommend going through and checking them all out just in case.
Agreed, I wanted to get it tuned, but no one even remotely local had a dyno or the ability to tune. Sadly sold the bike a few years ago and miss. Was my favorite
I know im kinda late on the video lol. But im just curios cuz im 194cm tall would this be to small bike for me for longer rides ? Cuz i had problems on my gsxr 750 with my knees hurting an arms pretty hard. I know i have cuance of getting 2005 rsv1000 so that is my main concern. Thanks in advance!!
So for me I find gixxers very uncomfortable, both knees and arms. The RSVR to me is perfect.....but honestly there is a lot of vibrations from the v tiwn engine. Start to feel it in the hands after an hour or more. I typically don't ride more than 2 hours constantly. All day is fine with 30 mins breaks
You are going to love that bike. My recommendations is check all of the frame bolts, bike does vibrate a bit and some of mine were loose. Change all your brake fluid. And have a great time! Bike has a ton of character. AF1 in the US can get most parts and ebay, my only shopping places.
I love mine and think it has more "character" than inline 4s. Its not as fast and the online 4s but still a ton of fun. There is a bit of vibration, but some good bar end weights help. So long as you don't stay at constant throttle forever you're good.
Not as bad honestly. A lot easier to work on them yourself. Ducati has a lot of Ducati only tools that make it more difficult. Mine has been good for years. Only did a fuel pump because of a broken wire on the pump harness. Otherwise maintenance is simple just like any other bikr
@@lordofbiscuits1911 good to hear. I would love a nice italian mistress, I mean motorcycle, but really really dont want to pay the ducati tax on everything.

Depends on what kind of riding you like. Busa is more comfortable, but the Aprilia is great in the turns and stopping power. Plus the Aprilia makes the best exhaust sounds
Has a good linear throttle. There is some snap if you want it, or can just be ridden nice and easy and doesn't have to jump out from under you. A lot smoother than an FZ09 without a doubt, but more torque.
They do have their issues, but strangely yes, I liked fixing it. I mainly only did maintenance but there are some that had a lot of problems. Bad part about having a rare bike

I'm really interested as a first sport bike, this is not insanely powerfull, the engine can pass 100k Km, for the "same" price as a CBR 600, this is a whole another level and she's pretty rare here in France. I see that you bought back this bike, I really really want to try this out
Bike sounds amazing. This is my next big bike. What's the bikes tank range? From cruising around, to pining the throttle. Say 100/120 to the tank? Stay safe brother.
Thanks man, it's been my favorite bike for years. I normally get at least 120 miles before the low fuel light hits and that's will riding it hard. If you tried to ride easy, can get longer. I think I was averaging 40mpg

so I'm curious.. it seemed like you were pretty heavy on the throttle and i wanna say you said you were 100% on the throttle in 2nd in another video. does it not power up? talking to some others that have had these told me it'll power up in 1st and 2nd no problem..
Yeah it will very easily in first and sometimes 2nd. Depends on how you're sitting on the bike for 2nd gear. But 1st it will almost jump in the air if you're not careful
I just bought an '01 Falco, has the same engine as the Mille and will definitely power up in second, third if you have the stones to.
what kind of exhaust are you running? Sounds amazing and I just got one that needs cosmetic.
So I took the factory mufflers and cut them off and used the pipes to weld on 51mm short GP mufflers on. They were only $38 on Amazon. Very loud but sounds amazing.
@@lordofbiscuits1911 awesome man! I got a hand down bike from a buddies friend that passed. Bike was flipped(not the cause of the passing) so I been tasked with revamping it in his honor.
I have the same exhaust on my rsv1000r
Awesome! Is it as painfully loud as mine?
How much would you say a 2008 RSV 1000R with under 10k is worth?
Realistically i wouldn't pay more than $6000 for it unless it was the factory edition. I sold mine for $5000. Not many people know about these bikes, and with limited dealers people are scared to buy them
@@lordofbiscuits1911 paid 6k for my 2008 RSVR silver/red w/ 13k miles from a dealer in Pheonix. Surprised you parted with her these bikes will damn near run forever if looked after
I know what you mean. I have had the same 2001 Moto Guzzi for 14yrs. Last summer I bought a 02 Aprilia RST1000 FUTURA 7450mile on it. They talk to me and I to them.
Bikes like that and aprilia's, they have a soul and have to love them. Just nice to have because not many other people do, makes them special
@@lordofbiscuits1911 To me, owning the 2 bikes I have, has nothing to do about numbers or gagetry. I would love to own a Mille R preferably the solid yellow.😦😎
Own a Aprilia RS125 cant wait to get this year a bigger one, aiming for a Aprilia RSV Mille 2001 not so expensive but great overall had a test drive with it, my adrenaline still pumps up when i remember that ride... What a bike, Aprilia 4life ❤️
Great vid btw
The mille and RSV1000R are amazing bikes. I had to sell this bike not much longer after this video and loved it so much I bought it back last month. Been in love since day one
Quick question on the aprilia. I own one and would like to know if yours struggles to cold start sometimes?
I wouldn't say it struggles but it will just cut off while warming up. Especially in really cold environments
Mine did it once. I’ve since torn the whole bike down and rebuilt it and it never did it again. Throttle bodies were filthy. Everything was filthy actually. Lol. (09’ RSV 1000 R)
@@scotty3034 how difficult was the rebuild. I'm only at 11k miles and think now is a good time for the valves to be checked
Peace!
All Things Automotive
Here’s a link to a .pdf for the service manual. It’s for the RSV Factory but pretty much the same for the 1000 R and Tuono.
www.manualslib.com/manual/363593/Aprilia-Rsv-1000-R-Factory.html
I'm buying an RSV Mille tomorrow
Awesome! You wont be disappointed
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!!
It's an amazing bike!
Have had mine now for 3 years now 😮and it can still scare me stupid very easily😅😅. Love it.❤
Yep amazing bikes. I miss mine every day and can't wait to get another one
man my aprilia was an absolute dream but lately its been giving me charging issues and ive replaced stators and rectifiers the loom is my last hope imma be pissed if this doesnt work out
Sorry to hear that. I love these bikes so much. I would check all your wiring connections on the fuses. Had a few loose wires on mine, might help you out a bit
All Things Automotive will do as soon as i’m there again thank you so much will keep you posted
Coollino HD Sorry, it’s the stator that is fried by the rotor as the rotor itself wouldn’t be fried!
I know I'm 2 years late but, I currently have a vfr800 and I've been offered an RSV1000R (non factory, just regular) you think it'll be too much of a step up?
Not at all, these are fantastic bikes, very forgiving and a ton of fun to ride. I miss mine every day
@@lordofbiscuits1911 oh I didn't even realized you saw this lol. I ended up trading my VFR for the RSV but haven't had a chance to take it on a ride. hopefully I will soon
@@essaarif7941 you will love it
Awesome bike. Loved it, specially the sound.
Thanks! The sound is by far the best part about Aprilia's.
@@lordofbiscuits1911 Italy's pasta and Aprilias sound is equally tempting.
I owned an rsv Mille 2001, I loooved that bike so much! Starting from the rsv4 series you lose a lot of reliability though. I'm thinking about buying another one, I'm fed up with my Honda 750 vfr (was a good deal but not fun). Cheers from 🇫🇷!
Love the RSVs such amazing bike and sounds. Sad to hear about the RSV4 and even the VFR, I heard they were good. I've been thinking of buying another RSV1000R.
I have a 2000 RSV 1000r Mille I fucking love it everything you said is true ! Hang on loosely but don't let go!
That's awesome! I just bought my RSV1000R back 2 weeks ago and love it so much
@@lordofbiscuits1911 don't ever sell it again!!!
This bike handles like a mix between a Yamaha R6 and a Yamaha Thundercat, but with the Suzuki Vtwin TL1000. It's such a great bike overall!
Yep sums it up perfectly
Na
Are there any turns at all where you ride?
Sadly little to none. But I've moved recently and found some nice twisties
Just picked up a 2009 Tuono Factory with 2500 miles for $4k US. As new
Wow that's a good price. Is that the first year of the v4 motor?
@@lordofbiscuits1911 that's a v2. Still very happy
@Marius S. ok thought they may have moved to the v4. You will love that bike, the v twin engine is amazing. The only problem I've had with my bike was loose engine mounting bolts. I recommend going through and checking them all out just in case.
Get it dyno tuned it will iron out bumbs and flow a whole better. From owner 04 rsv1000r
Agreed, I wanted to get it tuned, but no one even remotely local had a dyno or the ability to tune. Sadly sold the bike a few years ago and miss. Was my favorite
Inspired... Thank you...
Mine is a 2004 Factory... definitely loving it!
Anyway yours sounds totally amazing!!
Great review, possibly doing a straight swap with my k3 gsxr 1000 ?
👍
It's definitely a different type of bike, you will love it
I know im kinda late on the video lol.
I just buy me a 2004 rsv1000 today yeeeeeah 😃 new experience coming to my live. Any tips of advice more than welcome
You are going to love that bike. My recommendations is check all of the frame bolts, bike does vibrate a bit and some of mine were loose. Change all your brake fluid. And have a great time! Bike has a ton of character. AF1 in the US can get most parts and ebay, my only shopping places.
Thanks for the review. I’m actually hoping to trade my 06 Hayabusa for an 07 RSV1000R here soon. Pretty excited and hoping it works out.
I sold my 2008 hayabusa and would ride the aprilia over busa any day. They are great bikes for the money and easy to work on.
@@lordofbiscuits1911 haha welcome to the club :D
Motorcycle Shenanigans yep, ended up getting a super clean low milage 07 Tuono. Love it.

That sound so doesnt come across on a video unfortunately. I own a M900 so I can imagine the eargasmic sound though :D
Sorry about that. I have new video that I need to post that will help a lot. Check back this weekend for more
Hi! I'm thinking of buying one myself.. about that V2-is it "vibey"? Does it vibrate alot compared to inline 4? Thanks gor answer ;)
I love mine and think it has more "character" than inline 4s. Its not as fast and the online 4s but still a ton of fun. There is a bit of vibration, but some good bar end weights help. So long as you don't stay at constant throttle forever you're good.
Sound fantastic !
Thank you. I made the exhaust myself
@@lordofbiscuits1911 you are master . What a material ( metal ) you made ?
@@oldtimes8304 I used stainless steel and titanium mufflers. The original mufflers had built in cats, and needed a way to remove them

Getting a tuono can't wait love sports vtwins.
They are so much fun. Tons of character. You will never want to sell it
Hi any storage on the bike?
Yep, you can fit a pair of gloves under the back seat. Otherwise a backpack is your only option
Are aprilia bikes as expensive to maintain as like a ducati?
Not as bad honestly. A lot easier to work on them yourself. Ducati has a lot of Ducati only tools that make it more difficult. Mine has been good for years. Only did a fuel pump because of a broken wire on the pump harness. Otherwise maintenance is simple just like any other bikr
@@lordofbiscuits1911 good to hear. I would love a nice italian mistress, I mean motorcycle, but really really dont want to pay the ducati tax on everything.
@@mattm9087 honestly they are a piece of piss to work on no more difficult than any Japanese bike if you do the battery upgrade and leads you are good to go 👍 did mine as soon as I bought it.
I have a gen 2 busa, do u think its worth a swap?
Depends on what kind of riding you like. Busa is more comfortable, but the Aprilia is great in the turns and stopping power. Plus the Aprilia makes the best exhaust sounds
Bike looks and sounds fantastic, how is throttle response? Is she smooth or super snatchy like an r1/fz09?
Has a good linear throttle. There is some snap if you want it, or can just be ridden nice and easy and doesn't have to jump out from under you. A lot smoother than an FZ09 without a doubt, but more torque.
Brilliant on my bike, I have the optional sport cans and I believe the mapping is set to suit them.
Bet that bike sounds really good then. Mine needed a good dyno tune to really add that little extra punch

They do have their issues, but strangely yes, I liked fixing it. I mainly only did maintenance but there are some that had a lot of problems. Bad part about having a rare bike
What tires are you riding?
Honestly dont remember but they were just some cheap tires that came on the bike. About to buy that bike back soon and will be getting new tires. Thinking about a set of R22s
Great looking and sounding bike. I really love it. Please wear leathers Bro. You don't wanna lose yiur skin.

My childhood dream bike
Amazing bike. So good I had to sell it a year ago and bought it back 2 months ago and fell in love with it all over again
I'll change my bike soon, I was looking for a first sport bike, like a 600, but a uncle's friend wants to sell his 2006 factory version, (full black, gold frame, forged gold wheels and öhlins package) just beautiful.
I'm really interested as a first sport bike, this is not insanely powerfull, the engine can pass 100k Km, for the "same" price as a CBR 600, this is a whole another level and she's pretty rare here in France.
I see that you bought back this bike, I really really want to try this out
Amazing bike that is forgiving with amazing handling. It won't disappoint at all. Fast but not to fast that you won't get tired of after a month
Bro do you still have this bike?
I wish I did. Loved that bike. But have had many since.
@@lordofbiscuits1911 Nice one.
I had a 03 Mille a few years ago, which I've regretted selling ever since. ZZR1100 followed for a bit and I've currently got a VFR800, which I do enjoy. Next Mille will be a 04/07, or thereabouts. Love the high level cans and the air scoop between the headlights. Kind of similar to an sp2, but I reckon the Mille has the better tank range .
Looks fabulous and sounds absolutely amazing.
Best wishes and keep the vids coming.

Well if you want to convert to the full sport bike then yes, perfect thing to do. They are amazing bike and you wont be disappointed
How much for the bike new? 25k?
Probably for the factory model, this just being the RSV-R maybe around 20k or less
