Given it’s size, I can imagine the engine being good enough for a small hot rod. Put a Borg Warner T-5 or ZF out of a BMW behind it, sort out a radiator and put it in a Ford Pop or MGB. It’s a 1.8 litre, about the same size as most car engines, so I suspect it’s doable.

maybe it was just my ski but, the vent tube started collapsing.. on full throttle I kept getting what I thought was a boost leak or exhaust leak... last thing I did was disconnect the vent hose ..bingo!! monster came back to life..just thought id throw this out there in case some one is having same issue.. no disrespect jerry

Question-------- if you connect the air feed for the turbo direct to the air tube and you use the waverunner in the sea will this not allow salty air directly into the turbo also you will remove 50% of the venting air from the engine compartment ???
The hull vents are extremely well baffled. There is no way on earth you will invest water there unless you sink the ski. The hull vents are meant to feed air to the engine. It makes no difference if you feed one of the hoses to the air intake and leave the other hose to vent the hull.

But on that note I am newly back into the PWC world and am looking for a Ski of that vintage, I have narrowed down my choice between this Yamaha or a Seadoo 300 RXT-X. I know I will end up modding it because I enjoy that but what products do I want to use. I am not sure.
You’ve been misinformed. Riva stands behind the products they sell. If anyone has an issue with a real Solas impeller purchased through Riva or the Green Hulk store then it’s replaced under warranty. Most of the “Solas” impellers that come apart were Chinese knock off’s.... not real Solas impellers. These knockoffs even come in “Solas” boxes and look legit! Solas had a bad run of Sea Doo 300 13/18 impellers that were folding over and failing. Panic spread throughout the internet making everyone think that all Solas impellers were bad and would blow apart. Not the case!! Solas corrected this issue with the new SXX series 13/18. Yes, there have been some failures of real Solas impellers fail for other model skis, but Solas stands behind their product and if there was a failure they replaced the impeller. Solas offers the best and fastest impellers for our skis, I run them on my skis and never had an issue. Hey Jerry, I've got a '99 GP1200 with the Solos Concord YD-CD 13/19. Will I also benefit from removing the nose cone from the impeller, like the modern GP or no? I've also polished the inside of the pump, between the intake grate and wear ring, installed the R&D Aquavein intake grate with matching ride plate, extended nozzle and a set of K&N's with adapters. I have a 2015 fx cruiser sho... I was perfectly happy with it until I started riding with some friends of mine who all have Hondas... although theirs have turbos (I think), and are considerably smaller, my Yamaha still runs right with theirs. But being the only Yamaha owner in a group of five Honda riders, they constantly make remarks... SO... is there anything not to drastic I can do to mine to make it just a few mph faster? Because all the ski manufactures have an agreement with the USCG to not build skis that go over 69 mph. The manufacturers are putting speed limiters on their faster models to prevent them from sustaining over 69 mph. For example, Yamaha speed limits their GP1800 to 69 mph, but when we reflash the ECU to remove the speed limiter the ski does 78 mph, bone stock, no other mods.
R&D racing has an intake grate that is superior to the Worx intake grate he won't show you that because he agreed not to check it out at their site online

Look at the required modifications for the stage 1 tune for your 2004 RXP and duplicate that. You will need the Solas impeller with your stage 1 tune. A good indicator would be if the engine turns more than stock RPM. Also, just because it has a Solas doesn’t necessarily mean it has a reflashed ECU
