- The Stratford Festival 1982, Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Mikado" Miya Sama, Miya Sama, and A More Humane Mikado. Gidon Saks as The Mikado, Christina James as Katisha, Berthold Carriere conducts.
This is perhaps the best Mikado character I've seen. Flamboyant and slightly crazy...great upload.
Wow! She's my vocal teacher now!!!
This is amazing! What a wonderful singer and performer!
Quite an entrance he had there.
This guy is so Good Omg!!!
I love this, he's like the Adam Lambert of Mikados.
i think this is the one of few that actually used some of the right costumes.. i hate seeing the mikado and they are all wearing chinese costumes and then they see this....ehhh...maybe i'm just picky..but i love the mikado
Excellent! Thank you for posting this!
By All Means - I would buy it on DVD if It were available!
I love the opening staging, which sets this production within the realm of fantasy. However, the actors mug too much. If you look at the notes for the original, Gilbert demanded that his players keep away from any "funny business." Playing it straight makes it funnier.
