Clarendon family in dilapidated house seeks help to better living conditions

FEBRUARY 19, 2022: Irene Morgan, a resident of Corn Hill in Smithville, Clarendon, who is now in her late 60s, says she has nothing much to look forward to except to “live and fret”.
She lives in a dilapidated house with the flooring threatening to give way, wattle-and-daub walls seemingly on the brink of collapse, precarious roofing, and the windows battened down with zinc to protect against the elements - a recipe for disaster should the slightest force come against it.

The MP only gets $20 million per year for his/her Constituency Development Fund. The needs are great - water roads scholarships the indigent etc etc

I was thinking the same thing, the whole family disabled. I can understand her and her partner sick/ elderly, but what happened to the other young people there 🤔🤷🏾♀️. The younger one who cant get work, farm the land they can eat. Everyone sit down a wait for hand out. If it was just she and her partner with at least one other person helping - no problem but 4 More able bodied persons not contributing 🤦🏿♀️. I refuse to help the young live off the old.

It would be nice for some folks to help her build even two rooms, she said her children cotch (living with other people ) then they could all live in the same house, might have to bundle up, but at least whatever they have as food can stretch n no one would be left hungry. Oh my this elderly lady might lose her legs its looking really bad. I feel sorry for her . She needs treatment and care , matters will get worse given the degraded lifestyle at current. Im truly saddened. Some contact details would be good.

Looking at this and there are so much more like her make me say this AGAIN there are some persons in Jamaica now doing good deed program for their own self gratification they get money to build house for the poor in need and the spend the money on one person when two person could get help from that same money they build mansions and give them expensive furniture.they would often say i am not giving you anything i wouldn't want for myself but it's not their money spending SMH.example buy a bed from the man on the street for a $30000 instead of going to the store and pay $50000.put a build in closet instead of buying one etc.try to save on cost so someone else in need can get help but its all a hipe and a show.they need to do differently.

It’s not the government’s responsibility to build a house for her….We the citizens have to do that. Government can give her food stamp and medical care, but they can’t build houses for everybody. I am going home soon, I would like to help her.
