Thank you V&S and fellow villagers for letting me be a part of the village community. Thanks for the kind words everybody. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to share my passion for metal with all of you guys in the village.
Deaths HUMAN album is a flawless masterpiece.
Easily top 3 “Death Metal” albums ever made
I've always been more of a Spiritual Healing man myself, but I concur!
I agree! Was 17 when it came out. Stopped listening to metal altogether from 95-recently. Now that I get back to all the old good stuff it's Human that sits at the top for me.
all death albums are amazing!
Any Death album is top 3
I love the leprosy album
What this song is saying isn't that the parents are the reason the kid committed suicide, it's that the parents should have paid more attention and recognized the signs of either depression or mental illness and gotten the child help, instead of blaming the one thing that probably helped the kid cope with his problems more than anything, which was the music.
I think in this particular song it’s valid to assume the parents are partly to blame if they’re the kind of people to blame the music. Obviously if they’re the kind of people to think the music their son loved led to him committing suicide, I can see how the kid might live in an environment that would spiral him into depression
The parents probably suppressed the kids interests to the music which may have exacerbated his depressive symptoms
Human is one of the best metal albums ever
@@andremariano6263 That’s true. 5 songs was written for Control Denied - «Bite The Pain», «A Moment Of Clarity», «Spirit Crusher», «Voice Of The Soul» and «Story To Tell». You can find here (UA-cam) the demos of «A Moment ....» and «Story To Tell» with Chuck’s clean vocals.
@Aicantar Of Shimmerene i honestly cant stand the vocals of chuck on The sound of Perseverance , i like everything from Death except that album, i dont know what the F was chuldiner doing with the vocals on that one tbh, the high range is exagerated
Tru dat
I just bought the butterfly splatter vinyl of human. Only 8090 pressings made of it too.
say your opinions as respected 🤘 There should be no doubt at the time this album came out it literally was the FASTEST KNOWN DOUBLE BASS EVEN RECORDED... AND MOST UNCONVENTIONAL metal drumming of the times...like according to not just me but Glen himself and Thomas himself... So mark my words this is true and backed up by the two best metal drummer in existence....
One of which took over the very duties of playing what cynic's drummer did on this album... RIP
R.I.P. Sean Reinert (drums) who played on this Death record in 1991... and of course, R.I.P. Death's Chuck Schuldiner 🤘🤘
Bass was played by Steve DiGiorgio (Testament/Sadus)... lead guitar by Paul Masvidal (Cynic)
Probably one of the best Death line-ups.
For my $$$ it is THE Death lineup. It's the lineup where Chuck took a hard left turn toward progressive musical themes...masvidal & reinert had a ton of influence--and this is the one lineup that Chuck really tried to keep, but Paul & Sean had Cynic, so......
@@andremariano6263 two of my fav guitarists? Heck yeahhh

"Flattening Of Emotions" and "Vacant Planets" - you need to hear those two off this album, no doubt!
And thanks for giving you honest opinion Sori. I think you have to listen to a lot of Death songs multiple times to catch the rhythm
Vin. Bro. You gotta listen to this whole album. It is essential metal. You're going to love it. Sori won't like it, but that's ok. In the 80s and 90s there were virtually no women into thrash/death metal. We expect it.
Also, Death covered Painkiller....
What a stupid comment

Lol I gotta screenshot that bottom sentence 😂

We were lucky if the bands girlfriends were there.
Death - The Philosopher.
Thanks a million guys for remembering one the greatest bands ever. I fell in love with the album Symbolic of Death. When I was younger I spent a month listening to the album over and over again. Regards from Ireland.
Great song. Great, great band!
YESS, by far one of my favorite death songs haven't listened to this band in quite some time definitely need to do a relisten of them.
you guys definitely have to do more death,
perennial quest is awesome, you need to check that out.
One of the many great songs of one of the greatest Metal bands ever, thank you so much. If Vin enjoyed this song I think we'll really appreciate "Suicide Machine".
Thank you Vinn and Sori for the reaction. I am a die hard Death fan
Chuck was one of the greatest Metal masterminds of his generation. His lyrics spoke of topics that even today are difficult to understand, but that for some reason one feels that he is right in what he expresses. Whether one may agree or not, he always expressed and denounced realities of the deepest human mind. He himself said that reality is much more terrifying than any horror movie or novel. Ahead of his time that he left us very soon. RIP
Saw them live on this tour in 1992, still my favorite concert. Chuck was unbeliveable talented
There it is Vin loves early Death while Sori likes more of the late Death sound,i like all albums though
Listen to Control Denied, its (late) Death but with a clean vocalist. ”Consumed” is a great song by them!
And of course ”spirit crusher” by Death..
Breaking the Broken(?) was more ear-friendly if i remember right. Especially it's chorus was amazing, plus they can watch a video while listening. It must be their first choice
Heavy metal vocalist .
Not clean vocalist .
There s clean vocals , but a lot of agression as well and even if it have melody it have a lot of rasp in Tim aymar performance .
Sori's mind just doesn't fire at that level...... There I said it....lol. On a serious note, your analysis is spot on.
10 indeed... RIP brother...you will live in our hearts forever.!! \\m//
Sick!!! This is a classic!
Masterpiece
Hell yeah I’ve been waiting a long time for you guys to do another Death song. You should do their song Crystal Mountain, since it’s like one of their essential tracks.
This was my first Death metal song that I really liked and my first song that got me into extreme vocals. I was a long time metal and semi-thrash fan, but when I saw this video (5 years ago) and heard the change ups I was immediately in love, and I give them credit for me getting into other bands like Opeth and such. This song hits you in the freaking face, the drumming and bass work blew me away. Since then Ive become a huge fan, and IMO SOP is one of the best metal albums of all time.
A masterpiece, for sure.
There was a documentary on "the Priest" situation and this story on Hulu several years ago. One kid died instantly and one kid survived but was horribly disfigured (he did take a shotgun blast to the face after all). The mom of the survivor was very religious and domineering (I am not saying the religion caused that personality trait she just was). The whole time in the doc, the kid is saying how controlled his life was (as was the whole family's). This kid was into music and his mom was one of those satanic panic people and would not let her kid listen to that music. As a teenager, this kid was finding his identity only to have it squashed at every turn. It seemed in the doc that other family members share the same feelings of being dominated. Meanwhile the mom is blaming everyone and everything while thinking she is perfect and takes no responsibility She could not see past herself and even see the frustration of others at her. The kid wanted out of that family and life. I wish I could remember the mane of that documentary. Chuck is correct in his opinion of the situation from that point of view.
Great reaction! And I definitely agree about the metal community. We are VERY close knit in most every case.
There are a lot of people (including those who are into heavy music) who are drawn more to the "roll" than the linear.
No "guilt" needs to be applied.
As far as suicide, there isn't any way to point to one thing or another, including parents.
Having survived the death of a child, I can attest to the trauma inflected on a family. Nothing easy when it comes to surviving the death of a child.
Guilt can be great for those who refuse to accept responsibility or can't see the ill they inflict on others, but once realized, it's done it's job.
So sorry fir your loss!!!!
@@VinAndSori , thank you and keep up the good work.
So nice to see vin finally fully vibing with a death song, I know he liked symbolic and thought flesh and the power it holds was ok, but you can just tell he was fully feeling this one.
Death Human influenced soo many musicians. This album is a classic.
F**k yeah!!!!!
I can't believe people pay you $125 to give your opinion on a song. These people obviously have too much money on their hands to just throw it away like that.
Agree with Vin. Masterpiece of velocity!
I met chuck at morrisound studios in north tampa in the 90s my friend who was in a damn good band knew chuck so got to go there and meet him and a few others there..man that guy was ahead of his time...one of a very few people I know who was genuine opinionated but he was the no nicest human being...ill never forget that day just a bunch of young metalheads talking music joking around ...man I wish he was still here...I got to see him practice man ..and john and Donald tardyof obituary..those were the good ole days indeed cheers you two from kansas city..

Death's "Human".......such a masterpiece!!! Chuck, Steve DiGiorgio on bass, Paul Masvidal(guitars), Sean Reinert on drums. Masvidal and Reinert were just 18-19 years old when they helped Chuck with this. Legendary🤘🤘🤘
immeasurably influential album in my musical journey.
It's one of the smoothest rhythms in extreme music actually. It is an incredible album with amazingly technical musicianship.
Masterpiece of a Death song, as they all are. Sori 😱 lol
Ahhhh God😭 I really miss Chuck sooo much... R.i.p.
Awesome choice

Pestilence - Out Of The Body
One of my favorite tracks ever and Chuck is the reason I went with his model guitar
Thumbs up to you man..
Lack of Comprehension was practically my gateway drug to death metal. All of my friends didn’t understand why I didn’t like metalcore instead of liking this “old stuff”.
Best Death Metal band EVER! R.I.P.,CHUCK!
Destruction-Curse the gods
Chuck is such a underated guitarist and vocalist. Rip
Chuck isn't remotely underrated.
LOL the guy is considered a god everywhere
He's one of the most legendary people in all of Metal
@@Devypocalypse he is underrated in music as a whole, not nearly enough people know about him and death, mostly cos they live under the illusion that metal is noise

Exactly “how can this be?” Chuck was almost perfect with his music and lyrics. And of course, you didn’t feel it….
And yeah this song is def a 10

Years of reaction videos and this is coming, now. Lol. A bit late but of course x10 times better than nothing

Opeth- Godhead’s Lament
My favorite !!!! ^^
I personally think Chuck Schuldiner was a genius. He modified his guitar so he could produce that sound, and he really was an amazing lyricist. My favourite track on this album, though, is Flattening of Emotions. Now there's some astonishing musicianship, and you should check out Crystal Mountain and Pull the Plug, too. 😊
Thanks for this. Perhaps the EU might ask for Morbid Angel someday, too.
Death is like the Tool of the metal genre. Their subject matter is deep and the more you listen to the songs the better they sound.
Uhh Tool is the Tool of Metal genre. Tf are you talking about? Unless what you mean to say is that Death is like the Tool of the _Death Metal_ genre, that doesn’t make sense.
Tool doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Death.

@@PotawatomiThunderNew bruh Death came first before Tool.
@@jeppyjep okay? What does that have to do with anything?
This band is not just heavy. This band is the founder of Death Metal, because the name of the genre comes from the name of this band. And this band was the first to start this type of guitar sound, picking and composition structure. Same applies to vocals of Chuck Shuldiner. I cant say 100% sure if they the 1st to try it but certainly 1st that found recognition and appreciation among listeners on global scale. This band is an absolute legend and godfathers of all modern death metal bands.
Holy moly!!!
@@VinAndSori Not sure what was the year I first heard "Death" on an audio-cassete - maybe it was 1987 or 1988. It was crazy - there was nothing to compare it with and of course I reacted kinda Sori-like. Its a problem when you hear something that doesn`t fit. But then lately you might change your mind or... stay your grounds. I started appreciate death metal sound much later and when my ears got used to this - I could enjoy the previous materials also.
death never got global recognition? the first death metal band to really break through was morbid angel and then cannibal corpse. death are great but they’re still under appreciated to h this day
and possessed are the first death metal band in my opinion
been a while since I heard this, excellent album. I see khell mentioned a thrash alliance? :o

Hey vin, the lead parts you loved in the verses is played by Paul Masvidal - very unique player - you could hear it !
Immense, RIP chuck

Chuck died because he could not have a second surgery for his brain tumor due to lack of money, in such an expensive surgical intervention. All thanks to your "wonderful" health system. Had he been European, perhaps now he would be alive.
Absolutely evil!!!

Sori likes musical stuff like Iron Maiden and Sabbath. She will truly love Symptom of the Universe.
There is always alot of talk about the "death at 28" artist... I would have loved to see what kind of music the world would have recived from Death, Bathory, Windir, Dimebag if those heros wouldn't have died
Human is one of the best albums in all metal!
Not surprised that the case with Priest got dismissed at the trial level, but I am surprised that it went at issue, i.e. an answer was filed and evidence was presented. Based on the facts, I think in my opinion, it should have been dismissed by demurrer as even admitting the truth of all the allegations, there was no viable cause of action at a minimum on First Amendment grounds alone. Have not studied or practiced Constitutional law for a long time, but I do remember that case 100% and thinking the same thing at the time. The second dude in he lawsuit who commited a three-year slow-motion suicide, that must have been brutal. Unfortunately not the only one who failed to use the scatter beast correctly so to speak.
We need parents involved so props to V & S for their example as how they raise their kids right.

The drummer and second guitarist are from a band called Cynic. You should also check out 🤘

Vin, I appreciate what you said about allowing Ben Shapiro into your house. I never pushed my views onto my children either. I have given them examples of the the flip side of the coin though, when I feel that they are only getting info on topical subjects from 1 side of the fence. I do not however tell them how to think or what to believe.

Those of us who payed attention during the trial understand that the truth of the family dynamics came out, and Chuck was only speaking the truth with this song (as per the standard of all of his songwriting). This incident was in the middle of America's Satanic panic, the PMRC movement and the height of televangelists grifting america's frightened into religious cultism.
Columbine was another reflection of parents not being held accountable and blaming music for their lack of being actually qualified to be raising a human being.
Humans need to start taking responsibility for their lack of consideration of others instead of pointing fingers and crying words at the sky or dirt expecting characters they have no proof of, to save them from themselves or condemn their enemy's.
The thing is, when the whole suicide and metal thing went down the idea that the music might have been a significant triggering factor was nowhere near as questionable as it is now. There were a lot of sincere, well meaning and rational people who thought it was something that deserved serious investigation - it was not just a fringe idea only held by very religious people. So its kinda harsh to say that the parents were using it as an excuse to avoid blame.
