- Every channel is getting a unique handle. If you have a UA-cam channel, you should be able to choose a handle by November 14. This is an overview of UA-cam Handle Policy and the steps to take to choose or change your handle.

Thanks you! My Google account was running on an almost abandonded email address from way back - luckily I found the email YT sent in November and I could change the handle without problems.

anyone else get an email, click on choose handle, and simply nothing happens and theres no options to change anything whatsoever?
Hi Willabee Rags: Do you have more than one UA-cam channel? If so, you may need to switch the channel you are using on the web or app before you go to the handle selection page.
@@PeggyKTC hi Peggy, I have the problem too, when I click choose channel it takes me to Settings where there is only user name and description , no handle field???? I have only one channel.
Willabee Rags and ⵣZeuzBluezⵣ I am not sure why that is happening to you. Are you trying to do this on a mobile device or on the web? I recommend using a desktop computer if you have access to one.
When I click / choose a handle / it takes me to a page where it says your handle is reserved .. change handle.. when I click this change handle button it takes me to /channel settings/ where i can't find handle field there. Anyone got the same problem?
That's not what I'm seeing. Can you try using a different device? If you're using a mobile device try a desktop computer
I'd sure like to know how to choose my handle (right now) on android.
Go to ua-cam.com/users/handle . The page that opens in your mobile browser, will have a link to click to open the correct page in the official UA-cam app.

No, it does no such thing in the android app. It does bounce you back to the YT app but there is no option anywhere to choose one's new handle. I looked everywhere. It's not my debut with YT either. Please advise as able.
@@Provocateur3 it may not be available to your channel yet. You will receive an email from UA-cam when you can choose the handle for your channel.
Note that it is expected that ua-cam.com/users/handle in a mobile browser will bounce you to the official UA-cam app. You should see a screen with a notice about your handle coming soon.

UA-cam emailed us saying that " you can now choose your handle", but when I clicked the "Choose handle" button in the email, tit leads to your link and says "Handles will be rolling out soon. We'll notify you when you can choose yours". Did UA-cam send us our notification email at the wrong time"
@@cafemochavibe I got the same e-mail. I received one days ago announcing handles, but also received one saying I can now claim a handle, but the link doesn't have the field/button to claim one. Seems like a batch of e-mails were sent out too early.
Hi Peggy, Have you heard of anyone receiving the email to choose a handle that is not working? I received the email to choose my handle but when I click on it it just tells me I will be notified when I can choose my handle. Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm seeing multiple people reporting that. Do you have more than one UA-cam channel? If you do, can you make sure that you have switched to that channel in UA-cam before you open the handle page on the web or in the mobile app?

@@PeggyKTC I think I have the handles I want but I'm thinking of cap letters on 1st & last name for personal would be cool.
@@SheilaHensley I don't think the handles are case sensitive. But choose the "change" option to see if it lets you claim the handle with the caps. It might be worth that because that's what will display.
Great video Peggy but quite disturbing that we can have a business name and not be able to pick the handle. I'm currently in the process of activating my channel and preparing content and it would be disappointing if someone else chooses our handle. my business is newly launching.
Hopefully the handle you want will be available.
thanks for your video. I change Handel and it seems to work correctly. but the default URL still exists. How can I change that?
There isn't any way to change the default URL. But after all the handles are set for all the channels that will start displaying in the address bar when people visit your channel.
@@PeggyKTC thanks for your reply. the problem is I set handle but when I visit my channle as a guest it shows me the defuals url! so its not user friendly if some one wants to copy url and sent it to another person. is'nt it?

Every channel will have the option to add a handle by November 14th, so you won't have to wait long.
@@PeggyKTC I received the email that I could change the handle. When I clicked on the link to choose a handle, the page told me don't worry you'll be able to choose a handle later. lol I guess they are having a major glitch in their communications. @youtube
@@libertegrace if you have more than one channel, make sure you are signed into UA-cam as the channel that got the email. You may need to switch channels before opening ua-cam.com/users/handle
@@PeggyKTC Thanks yes I did check that. I received the email from UA-cam twice and then once I followed the prompts it told me I had to wait. Anyway not your problem - I appreciate the reply though!
Does anyone know if brand accounts can have a Handle? Do not see the option
Yes, all UA-cam channels will have a handle, on Google account or Brand Account both. The option to add handle is still rolling out.

Once I Pick My Handel Can I Change it to something else down the road if my channel name changes?
Yes, you should be able to change your handle to a different available handle.

Hello Peggy I have a question my previous acount was terminated but I'm trying to file for an apeal however it need my channel id and url but since I'm banned I can't get those two sources can you possibly help me out by chance
Check the email you received from UA-cam about your channel being terminated. I believe that usually includes a link to the channel. Also try and think about whether you ever shared the channel link to promote it with friends or family or on social media.

All I can do is suggest that you appeal. You should see that option when you try and sign into your account. If your entire Google account is terminated, you may have received an email at your recovery email address.

Are they buffering the opening? I got an email saying I can change it but when I follow the link it's say wait unti I'm notified
If you got the email that says you can change it, you should be able to change it. If you have more than one UA-cam channel, you may need to switch to the correct one before you go to ua-cam.com/users/handle
@@PeggyKTC thanks I'm on the correct one and it show launching soon. if I have 2 channels but only actually use 1 how do I delete the other in 2022, all the tutorials are wrong. I can't find the advanced settings anywhere.
The advanced settings for your channel are at ua-cam.com/users/account_advanced (they have not moved recently)
@@PeggyKTC they do not show up in the app as directed thanks though I'll check it out on the pc, it's my other channel that I'm trying to delete. Then I'll work on getting my handle

My youtube has a different handle than the username. Can you tell why
You can set any (available) handle you want. If you did not set a handle, UA-cam set one for you, but you can change it. Go to ua-cam.com/users/handle to change yours.
Totally irrelevant to people not producing content or even engaging much on YT except for the odd comment. YT can choose for me, it means nothing and won’t change anything to my presence on YT . I might even delete my channel, it was never created for monentarisation or community participation. I certainly don’t want people engaging with me other than maybe replying to a comment I’ve made somewhere.

You can change it multiple times, with some restrictions. This is what UA-cam says: "You can change your handle twice within a 14-day period. If you do so, we hold your previous handle for 14 days in case you’d like to switch back. During this 14-day period, your former handle URL and your updated URL will both work. Afterward, the handle will become available for other users to select as their handle."
