Very long coats are trending, and I like the additional warmth. When I used to commute to the office, a lot of that time was spent standing in the dark in cold wind waiting for buses, and walking to and from the bus stop. I found that a long, full-cut coat that buttons up to the neck worked best for me, in 100% wool or wool/cashmere, and with a breathable lining so that I didn’t get sweaty wearing it on the bus, the last thing I wanted before my long walk home. I finally found my dream coat by Dior, in a mulberry-colored wool. The price made me choke, but it turned out to have the lowest cost-per wear of any item in my wardrobe. Now that I’m retired and don’t have to go out at 6:00 am or pm in freezing temperatures, I don’t wear it as often, but it’s still indispensable for the coldest evenings, especially for this mostly dress/skirt wearer. The style isn’t current now, but is classic enough to wear forever, and I have, for nearly 40 years. It’s so hard to find coats of this quality at any price now, especially without polyester linings, which I can’t tolerate. I do like a lining because it’s easier to put the coat on and off, and a nice, tightly-woven lining fabric really helps cut the cold wind, nit a plastic one, though. With coats, it’s worth buying the best, in a classic style that has all the features one needs to really stay warm. I like a fitted, Princess of Wales style coat, too, but coats cut narrow over the legs don’t keep me very warm, they open with every step.

I absolutely love that long coats are back! As a little girl, I would play dress up wear my mother/grandmother’s clothes, BUT I knew not to touch the long coats to avoid getting them dirty 😂❤ good times!

I love coats and jackets, but they do take up a lot of closet space. I’m the only American woman who doesn’t have a big walk-in closet. (Just joking, there might be a few others).
