Hi everyone. If you can’t find the particular coat you like on either the UK or the US board it means it was either a): out of stock or b): not available to link online. It’s always worth looking in store if this is the case. Hope you like something in the selection! Melissa x
I never write reviews on yt, this is probably the first one I have ever written but I just have to say that you are amazing! So classy and beautiful! I love your videos, I got so many amazing tips from you and the outfits you show are just beautiful. And you save me so much time finding amazing pieces. I love that your videos are so real. Thanks for sharing these ♥️
Love this video! I found H&M's quality has plummeted this year, but the prices 😮💨 I prefer Zara & Nordstrom now. If you are shopping in North America, I recommend Aritzia coats. The sizing is consistent and some of the wool-cashmere coats this year are top tier. If you are buying a Super Puff, I recommend sizing down!
I always look stupid in the "beanie" hats. I noticed you were wearing your almost on your eyebrows. Maybe that's my problem--ive always tried to wear them higher. I'd like a video on winter hats and scarves and show how to wear them.
I've noticed now women don't tuck their hair behind their ears when wearing a beanie or a baseball cap because they think it's more slimming for their face, which I get. Maybe a whole video on seasonal accessories? Back to hats - yes, I love hats and was blessed with a "hat head" or maybe it's the shape of my face, but what hats or accessories work well for certain head and face shapes? Same goes with earrings! And Necklaces!! Can you also do a video on fabrics and materials - what fabrics are gonna last longer or be better suited for this/that occasion or season? I'm doing a deep dive comment here, but I love these videos and it's changing how I look and style myself. SO THANK YOU!!! I have been binging your channel since I found it. I have watched many, many, fashion and advice videos. But truly, you are absolutely the best ! I am getting lots of ideas about how to wear the clothes that I already have. And what to look for when I shop for new ones.
Melissa I found a surprisingly nice long sleeveless black puffa coat in Matalan this year, similar to what you're wearing at 2.10. It was soft and comfortable with a nice texture and only about £35. I didn't buy it as in Northern England I really need sleeves and a hood for the rain but thought you might be interested. I've been thrifting/charity shopping more this year and finding some great pieces, included a beautiful long black belted wool and cashmere coat from John Lewis for £12! It takes more work to go thrifting but once you get into it it's amazing what great pieces are available. I just make sure I wash and line dry everything when I get home, or dry clean or air non washable items to make them good as new.
That all sounds great. Unfortunately our American viewers can’t get Matalan which I why we can’t show it on the channel but hopefully some of uk audience reads your comment and can go and check it out. Thanks for sharing x
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into these super useful videos. Now I just have to figure out how to squeeze a shopping trip into this week’s schedule 🤔🥰.
Thank you for this video. I don’t get out to many of those shops so it was nice to see the longer styles which I’m after. I’m 5.6 and would like a really long coat for keeping my legs warm so will look at these websites after your video. 😊
Can you do a video on COATS that are VERY warm, so if you only can buy 1 coat to keep you warm through the UK winter.which ones? And for tall women please.
There's never just 1 coat that does all jobs if you lead a varied lifestyle. However, if your life is incredibly casual then yes, this is achievable and I would go for a down long puffer style. If you have need to look smarter and more elevated then I'd also buy a classic wool coat. If you buy both in classic styles then you'll have both in your wardrobe for years and years.
Great that's about what I thought, I do have a very casual lifestyle, I'll look for those to types. I have found that most dont keep me warm enough and wondering if there is a particular brand or filling that is best? The type to keep you warm if you live in a very cold climate.@@mmpersonalstyling
Thank you so much! I ended up with the chocolate brown puffer from Mark and Spence’s! I live in Alaska and I’m always looking for cute coats! I appreciate the US links!
Hi Melissa Firstly thank you for a great video. I bought the lighter coat from Mango today (the one you try on and say you have the lighter colour). It’s such a good coat. Xx
I’m really gutted as the coat I liked is out of stock online in my size or anywhere near it. Stocking enough sizes always seems to be a problem with M and S. I really don’t fancy a trip into town to find the same problem. I really loved that colour.
@@trishhickson1550I had the same issue with coats at M&S a year ago. Sold out way too early, before it had really got cold so they clearly didn’t have enough stock to start 😡
@@traceybartlam7737 they seem to run out of sizes very often. Usually the 10/12 especially so often wonder why they don’t get more. Obviously saving on stock but missing sales. I found a similar one on next.
I really like this video to I really enjoyed watching this I really enjoyed on a lot of the coats that you were showing you know I liked that kind of like creamers one that was kind of like a pretty color is well and I like these shoes that are you showing at this point in the video as well
Thanks for your hard work again Melissa 😀. I have the Mango coat that you tried on in sage green and that you said you have in light beige. I've got it in a medium so am surprised you had the xs on as ive bought stuff the same size as you. I wonder if it's because I'm tall and broad shouldered. Love 'going' shopping with you x
M&S deliver to Canada (and everywhere worldwide) and if we were unable to find the exact products we found similar ones for you on the American board (and the majority of American shops ship to Canada). X
I recently learned something about Zara sizing. Maybe everyone already knows this, but if there's a black circle on the tag, that means it runs big. A little research told me this: "The British stylist clarified the international retail giant puts a circle on its clothing tags to signify the garment is from the Zara Woman line, a square means it's a Zara basic, and a triangle represents the TRF collection designed for teenagers" - So now you know when to size up or down...
Unfortunately the black dot thing wasn’t true, it was just something on tik Tok that did the rounds and I’d love it to be true but it wasn’t. You are right about the younger range though x
Thanks! I will at least avoid the younger range sizing! Thanks for your videos and all the hard work being produced by your channel!@@mmpersonalstyling
I asked at Zara and they told me that those tell you the department/section, Woman, Trf, etc, nothing to do with sizing (everything but tops is oversized, i think) 😅
You're an absolute wealth of knowledge. I am learning so much. Thank you! This is probably a silly question but is it ok to have sneakers like the Adidas samba with black stripe if I don't have black as a base colour? I'm a stay at home mum so need mainly practical clothes and these shoes would be great but my base colours are blues/whites and creams/tan. I haven't bought navy pants yet but was thinking of doing so as a change from jeans but just worried that I'm introducing black too with the shoes.
The stripe will almost look more navy when paired with navy anyway so I wouldn't worry about that. I do tend to gravitate towards a darker colour when I wear mine too - just to bring the outfit together but that could be a handbag or hairband, it doesn't necessarily have to be a darker colour top or trousers. But to answer your questions pairing them with navy will be fine x
That’s always going to happen given the extra bulk of fabric from a puffer coat. Cinching in with a belt on the puffer coat can help to recreate shape x
Since I live in The Great White North (Canada) I do agree, however find if one chooses a quilting pattern that isn't strictly vertical you will avoid looking like The Michelin Man. (The latter if living in Canada or in the U.S.A., you will know who I mean.) 🙂
