  • "Things got complicated" is how Daphne describes living homeless. She was laid off then unemployment checks stopped.
Living outside homeless is not camping. If you are the outdoors type and enjoy camping you know it's choice. After a few days or a week, you can go back to living with a roof, shower, fridge, and bathroom.
Long time ago when I started this I learned my lesson with pit bulls in homeless camps and cars. But a 'gator' is whacked.

    About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they’re on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as UA-cam, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can’t ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation’s most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America’s homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

Although I am not a religious person, I have to admit that churches in general have a very social approach to poverty by helping people in need. While I was also homeless, I was helped for months by a religious mission close to where I was. Later on, after putting my life back on track, I made many contributions to that church so that they could help others in need too. Their help was definitely a decisive factor to my social reintegration into society.

We should all thank our negligent Congress for NAFTA. Nowadays outsourcing, layoffs and store closings happen so often that they seem normal to folks. In the city where I'm living in, we lost 3 Kmart's, Macy's, 2 JCPenney s, and an Aeropostale. But everyone is like "ohh cheap prices!" Oh and the student debt crisis is ridiculous. Im very surprised of the great number of people who have yet to realize how far this country has fallen. And I hope none of these oblivious drones run for Congress, for if they did this country will be worse than Zimbabwe and collapse under it's debts ($20T, and COUNTING). We ARE Doomed.

People need to realize yes it can happen to them. I've never been homeless but probably came damn close. I think what helped me was when I work I try to pay off what bills I have and save money. But here in Idaho companies can let an employee go for any reason or no reason at all and then deny you unemployment and even your vacation pay . Workers need more rights and protections in this country and companies need to pay workers better instead of keeping all the money to themselves. This would also boost the economy if people had more money to spend.

Her calm voice and attitude makes me sad as she might have endured most of the difficulties just like that. She didn't talk about the problems , just saying that things were not easy. The people at least had to be in a shelter as they are worried about the snakes, insects, crocodiles or so on, while not having any places for taking a shower or having a rest just for good night sleep . She would get old time after time, she would not be able to work someday and that should not be the reason for losing somewhere to take a rest.

How can 2 people together if working not afford Atleast a room? I've been on my own since I was 16. Not a penny from anyone and I've never been homeless or asked for handouts. Just dont get it.

@SketchLegit Yes, drugs did and do play a part in some. I saw some firsthand while I was at the shelter. Drug and alcohol problem. But we can't assume all are that way, because it's not true. Not talking about you specifically.

The next minute isn't guaranteed to any of us. That's why you/we should be thankful to open our eyes to a new day. ;D

@XrayQueen69 It all depends on your lifestyle. It is your fault that 40 dollars/hour is barely enough for you. Having kids, maintaining expensive assets, etc. are all YOUR choices. If you earned 40 dollars a month and spent 2500 dollars a month you'd be living golden.

you do know you can simply re-apply for unemployment benefit just spin around and walk right back in, never accept no for an answer and request to speak to their supervisor, here in NZ they never say no, but if they do the next case manager in 4 hours sitting they will help it's because it's called social welfare here
come live with us we'll love you, i too am getting svdp every couple of months, the key is to grow your own vegies though we get them free here and free seconds bread and fruit, food grants from welfare are worth upto $700 per year one good turn deserves another, ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find knock and the door will be opened unto you, best of blessing for you lady, Gods grace is always abounding and it doesn't toil nor twist but he clothes the lillies each day, if he loves the sparrows and a bunch of them is worth barely anything yet he has his eye on the sparrow and he has his eye on us too, how much then are we worth, priceless
