I've had the cobra wedges going back about 5 years when they were still trusty rusty through the current tour trusty model and they all bite hard around the greens. I do use a 60 around the greens and am encouraged you saw better numbers with that loft on the short ones. Now I just need to keep from being distracted by the new wedges already out until this hit stores in May!
Hey Rick, I'm in the market for some new wedges. I understand about loft degrees but can you make a video explaining the "bounce" of a wedge? I just don't fully understand what that means and how it affects the wedge. Thanks.
I had cobra woods in my bag last 3 seasons just changed them for this new season but cobra make some very nice gear I can recommend you try their stuff out. Not sure if Rick was aware that the "new groove idea" of making grooves loft specific is an old idea that mizuno have been using on their wedges for a number of years and yes it makes sense and it works well. I use mizuno irons and wedges and these type of loft specific grooves certainly work 👍
I like raw steel wedges....I find that they feel muted where chrome finishes feel hotter and tend to go farther from the same effort of swing. Your first shots were hot and went further than you thought....I think that chrome faces do that....
Rick, I love the style of review that you have done here. Are we going to see a bunch more wedge reviews this season? That is the next area of my bag that I need to fit.
Can you do a video/series on how to select wedges from 100 yards and in and how to have good distance control. Distance control with my wedges is my biggest flaw and costs me several shots. Thanks ⛳️🏌🇮🇪
I personally dont know if there are so many drills or secrets about distance control. To improve my distance control I bought a 4th wedge and measured all my full swing distances with my range finder. The rest is just a lot of practise with concrete targets at different distances to get a feeling for each yardage on the course in my opinion.
I love the way you review wedges. I like these but after seeing your SM6 and the " PM" grind wedges review I think I'll have to go with one of those two
magmatt I did something similar; getting the pm as a stand alone 60 degree to go with cleveland 52 and 56. I wanted it to be kind of a specialty club around the greens and use the clevelands for pitching, although it's great for full shots if you want to. It opens up beautifully. You feel like you can flop it off of concrete if you had to, and it's extremely comforting in thick fluffy rough that you can slide under to have that extended face in the toe. Also I could be wrong, but with the extended face it feels like the cg is higher than in my clevelands so it might be able to generate a bit more spin hitting below it than your standard wedge.
+chaveznieves sweeeet I was curious about how it felt under the fluffy stuff.. Absolutely love the idea of having it as a specially wedge if need to. But love the option to play it straight without any opening of the face..
Great vlogs as usual, any chance of testing cavity back wedges like Clevelend 588 rotex CB Be really interested to see if spin rates differ much & if more forgiving for mid handicapers. Many Thanks.
+Alan Waterworth Not at all. You get better control from 100 yards because you get more spin (that's exactly what control is) from 100 yards. He mentions these have very low spin from 20 yards.
+Dtyler171 yes, of course there is less spin at 20 yards, as the swing is shorter therefor producing lower club head spead =less spin. But an experienced or pro player like RIck is less likely to come up short on approach shots and leave themselves with a 20 yarder anyway.
Alan Waterworth Ok, and? You don't have to hit it short to be 20 yard away. I don't understand what you're trying to say. You don't think he ever has to play 20 yards shots on the course?
Dtyler171 of course he has! but the original question was somewhat rhetorical, a suggestion rather than a question, perhaps you missed that in your rush to answer on his behalf :)
they are gorgeous they come in blue or chrome but the blue are yummy and they have the loft specific grooves that cobra have copied and used in these wedges. The S5's feel look and perform great 👍
Rick Shiels Golf my name is Joel from Bunker Bros Golf a friend and I recently started our own UA-cam channel we look up to you thank you so much for what you do. If you watch my What's in the bag on our channel you can see that the only club I now need is a 60* wedge I was wondering if you could possibly fill that gap with sending us one of these wedges. This might sound incredibly rude and if it does I am sorry but I just thought I'd ask... Thanks,Bunker Bros Golf

Brandon Filosa the more bounce you have, the higher the leading edge will be off the ground. Bounce helps the wedge not dig into the ground too much. if you play on firm surfaces, you should use less bounce and more for softer ground. I personally think that you should consult your local PGA professional about what would be best suited for your game.
Just bag a full set ....60, 56 and 52...love them! I'm a cobra/Puma golfer all day😎
mailmanqcnc I just got my new Rickie Fowler Limited edition 60 degree in today! Beautiful club and I’m going to get the 56.
And I’m hooked on Cobra myself!

Hi Rick Think it would be better, to do the review on wet muddy grass.
what we play on for half the year.
Thanks.
I second that

Can't wait to bag a full set of these!
How'd you like em?

Can you do a video on how to increase club head speed from 80 to 90 instead of 110 to 120 . Thanks ⛳️🏌🇮🇪
+Cal Connolly what would be the difference , you just have a different starting point , but the main tips would be swing faster and go to the gym
beautiful wedges
Perfect for full shoots...
I love the way you review wedges. I like these but after seeing your SM6 and the " PM" grind wedges review I think I'll have to go with one of those two
+magmatt i can't recommend the pm enough
+chaveznieves yea? I was debating getting a pm grind in 60* and then going sm6 for a 56,52

Rick F6 driver review Jan 5 2016. 30 ball when?
Hi Rick, top video as usual, can you look at the F6 irons as i'm very interested in getting a set.
Great vlogs as usual, any chance of testing cavity back wedges like Clevelend 588 rotex CB
Be really interested to see if spin rates differ much & if more forgiving for mid handicapers.
Many Thanks.
Thanks nice vid. What about Ping G LS tec vs M1
Maybe your control is better at 100yds than 20 because you rarely leave yourself short on approach shots?

Can you do a head to head on the vapor fly and vapor fly pro irons
like these Rick do a challenge with them!!
would love some review on the mizuno S5 wedge
they are gorgeous they come in blue or chrome but the blue are yummy and they have the loft specific grooves that cobra have copied and used in these wedges.
The S5's feel look and perform great 👍
+rick PLEASE, can u take a look to F6 irons? I'm quite interesting, my first alternative if i would to change my aeroburner's irons.
Thanx a lot

Did he ever send you a wedge? lol to be honest i think he most likely gets sent them for review and then sends them back but i may be mistaken
Notifications FTW!!!
what is the spin rate to make the ball come back
Depends on the conditions of the green, also the type of ball you play determines huge how the ball will spin.
Has Rickie put these in the bag yet?
+218limelight
Rickie doesn't put anything off the rack in his bag.
These what fowler plays with?:p
Prize?
Who is the young looking bloke 😉
I hate Tai Lopez.
