The song is actually very RM if you listen to his past work, especially Mono. I was very much expecting this style of music from him. This is what he does really well too but I do understand why you were taken by surprise. Since you aren't quite acquainted with his past works, you probably expected from him what is typically expected of a "K-pop" star but he is too authentic of an artist to do his music solely based on how well he can sell it. There is a reason we say BTS (a lot of which is his brainschild) is different from what is normally considered "K-pop". Anyways, loved YOUR authenticity. I hope you get to explore "Mono" when you have time. That is still my fav work of Namjoon!

"Come back to me" is for those who feel pressurized to fill in the roles that the society expects us them to take up to but want to be in their true forms regardless. A friend, husband, boyfriend, son, and what not but at last Namjoon opens the door to his true self and enters the maze/puzzle of the world with his bare self (check how he enters the door with the woman barefoot). This is just a theory to make sense with what information we've been given regarding the upcoming album, that is, feeling of a "stranger that doesn't fit in". Even the plants in the music video signify and deepen the meaning of it more and more, it's like Namjoon is singing to his inner true self, that "come back to me" . Again, just theories, but these ones make sense to me as Namjoon has repeatedly said how he keeps wanting to be a better person and reconcile with his true self.
+ The slow paced alt song isn't actually different from RM's music, you need to give a listen to previous mixtape "mono." which came out in 2018. Enjoyed this reaction, thanks!

You didn't listen to his old mixtape this why you didn't expect this but this definitely RM style and type of music when he was "rap monster" he used to release rap song which he criticise the people and society with fast rap but now he's been more into these slow songs which he uses his vocals in it and not rapping and we absorb love his masterpieces 💜💜

Some people think rm is the “in your face hard rap” kinda guy (he obviously can do that as well) but we know his soul resonates more with the lofi hiphop, alternative, r&b style. His poet personality shines so nice in these type of songs.

You just don't know RM yet. This is totally him. And he progressed from being just a rapper into singing a bit more and more with every mixtape and album because he doesn't want to be locked into just one way of expressing his art, i.e. rapping. Suga is doing the same, singing more. And J-Hope always had the ability to sing too. I am enjoying all members' exploration of their limits, to be honest. They have grown so much since their hiatus, I can't wait to see what's more in store! Whatever it is, it will be quality music. 💜💜💜

Actually if you had listened to RMs entire catalogue every mix tape or album is different from the last. He has always been the most experimental and creative artist, possibly in music today. He constantly pushes boundaries. That's why he's most loved by other artists and musicians. INDIGO ( his last album) every track was a different genre. Actually this is more like RMs FOREVER RAIN from MONO.
In this mv RM wanders around confused, depressed and disengaged from everything going on around him. All these different lives, expectations. Until he meets his other half( plato or Jung ) and thats when he can be happy in all these potential lives but he leaves with his other half who doubles as ARMY( she flashes a purple hue). In the light RM discovers its all fake sets made by and created for someone else. He chooses not to be boxed in by expectations. PAIN DEVINE talking with Pharrell Williams they were agreeing you judged how good lyrics are by how painful they are to write. Pain devine= creative inspiration?.

Hahaha it’s fun to see people who are new-er to bts see stuff like this. It’s definitely shocking if you haven’t seen/heard all of RM’s music over the years..but this absolutely SCREAMS Namjoon. This is so very much his style, he’s definitely evolved over the years from young and angry Rap Monster, to struggling to find himself while growing as an artist amongst his bros in bts as RM, and then these releases where we really see more of Kim Namjoon the man. He’s come SO FAR, he can never drop music without me feeling incredibly proud for some guy I don’t actually know 😂💜

    Credit to owner.
Minha is a librarian in the MV. The house is a library where Namjoon goes door to door from book to book. These each rooms are individual books. Each book takes him to a different environment in a different situation. All these books take him to those times of his life like: childhood with parents, love life, married life, drinking with friends, failure
At the end we see Minha leading him inside what is essentially a bookshelf and Namjoon sees the failures of his own life in the books inside.
Those who have read the book The Midnight Library will understand this whole thing. This is a book that Namjoon has read, liked and recommended. The final scene resembles a bookshelf in the Midnight Library where each book depicts protagonist Nora Seed's regrets.
Nora is a 34-year-old woman with depression who wanted to commit suicide. She passes between life and death. And that place is called midnight library.
We see Joon running from door to door in a corridor. He is given one more chance to go through his penances. The point is, "If I hadn't done that, maybe this wouldn't have happened to me." After reading the books, entering those rooms, Namjoon realizes that nothing more could have been done in this situation than what he did.
He finally realizes that he is the best version of himself and has nothing to regret. That's what we see at the end. Namjoon is getting out of those situations with librarian Minha. Then he came back to his present situation, hanging out with those friends and completely clear minded. This means he has no regrets or regrets.
By "Come back to me " he's calling his own old real self back to Himself and he finds himself back.

Lee Sung Jin, the MV director, said he and RM shared a lot of stories and came upon a story about a man that was stuck in a house with his PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE.
Doors have always been very symbolic. The door with the three different colored circles could mean PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE . Triptych architecture in history has also had symbolisms for past, present and future or for harmony like life and death, man and woman, Yin and Yang, the moon and the sun with the middle piece being the connection, our enlightenment, a third eye, a doorway to inner happiness. Also the different colors and lighting keep changing and I believe when they finally go through the door the three colors on the door are red, green and blue and I know RM has mentioned RGB before. He's also mentioned multiverses and reading The Midnight Library (many similarities to this MV). The girl throughout and at the end is "him", it's his anima/animus which he manifests to guide him. It was lost and now that he has found it again or it has come back to him he is able to find peace and live his own life without regret.
Right Place, Wrong Person. It's conceptional. The place isn't wrong but he (we) might feel wrong. The conceptual understanding is that we need to find ourselves, our own happiness to feel right wherever we are.
"You’re always a little nervous when you’re working with these giant global superstars. Are they going to want to rehearse? Are they going to take notes? RM was game for everything. He was there for long hours. First take of the very first scene, he bent down and his head hit the camera and it was a giant gash on his eye and immediately I thought, “Oh great, I’m going to be deported immediately because I’ve just scratched this national treasure.” To his credit, he went to the hospital, got stitched up, came back and he was ready to go. He was so versatile and open to direction and I think he was also pushing me. He would come and check the monitor and be like, “Oh, I think we can get that one a little bit better.” He has an incredible team behind him too." - Lee Sung Jin

This mv is actually much deeper if you observe the little details, my theory is he's trying to portray the difficulties in living a normal life given the level of fame and popularity he has which is both a blessing and a curse, as opposed to the various roles assigned to him by the society and its expectations in general. The conversation with the girl on the sofa (who btw is the same girl shown to be running from place to place aka lost as himself) so when they meet they know/he knows he's not alone in this race, there are people as lost as he is and that he doesn't necessarily need to be perfect in each of the roles he has to play. He seems to have found his peace(spring) from them on. Now the door with 3 moons on it is like his doorway to a happy life aka spring, and as he enters it together with the girl, it leads on to all the places he's been at eg home, club etc which are shown as different rooms and you can see at the end each room is open from above i.e without a roof , meaning to show that no matter what his life has always been like an open book, everyone has always been looking and probably always will, only difference is he has found his peace with it now

    • @becauseisaac
      @becauseisaac  12 днів тому +22

hi isaac, i have this theory that namjoon here wants to show how he had been feeling out of the place. starting from with his friends at the party to his family that was shocked to see him home or his past with his lover who was seemingly very frustrated over something he had no idea about. all of this representing that he felt he was the imposter in all. and that is when she found the woman (who he later walks through the door with) who is somewhat like him. the woma represent himself if you see how he first saw himself and later it turned out to be her,. She here (kim minha) is more a like a friend, supporter. he talks with her all day until the sun goes down and faces his own demons (the woman represents himself) and sorts his problems, as you see he feels acknowledged later with his friends and families and makes peace with his past . the door most probably represents his freedom that he attains after having dealt with his own demons.

In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"!....Since then all this madness began on the internet, UA-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano!...You can see in UA-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true!!...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide!....Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you!!...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html

I love the absolute confusion. I think anyone who has listened to MONO wasn't exactly expecting this, but also wasn't surprised by it. Its not identical to anything else he has done, but that in itself is a hallmark of RM, and BTS in general. MONO was his early 20s, Indigo was the end of his 20s, and this is I think getting closer to who he was in the months as he finished up Indigo. This song is a more mature version of MONO, the music is more complex, the lyrics are more at peace with himself. Its very RM while also showing real growth. Its also more similar to some of the songs you haven't heard from Indigo, such as No. 2 and Forg_tful

This is definitely RM. Im not sure which songs youve heard from him so far, but Id compare it to the stuff from Mono but matured. Theres an off kilter quality to this song that matches so well with thr message and album artwork (he writes the title in his left hand like he did with the Mono album). It fits him since he's always wanting to stray from the beaten path. Indigo celebrated his humanity and personhood outside of being an idol. It also showed him wanting to distance himself from ideas around trendsetting, AI and algorithms. This feels like a natural next step to do something unexpected but not following what's musically trendy right now. A 6 mins song in 2024 that isn't a dance track is ballsy as hell. I love it though. He described the bew album as being a bit more alternative so I'm excited to hear it.

If you listen to Still Life (with Anderson Paak) it has kind of a similar vibe - different but similar. Rain (another song he kind of sings) also has similar vibes to the very sparse first chorus and verse.

The problem with soc media algorithms, they make sure we only see the popular or trending stuff like RM's hard rap vids, or BTS' shiny pop mvs.
That's why we go out of our way to recommend underrated b-sides.
To make sure you wait through the forest, not just around it.

Man, that is not strange or unexpected coming from RM. You say that, cause you 'don't know shit!" About RM'S Style and Variety of Musical Genres.
How do you expect to? If you just reacted to like, '5 BTS songs" kk lol.
You don't know 'nothin' about him, so... How can you expect to know what he can, and what he gonna do? dude? What do you mean?

The timeline in this story isn’t liner. But parallel. One, when you aren’t the right person for the right place. The other, you are the right person for every place society placed you in. All stage sets are externally imposed. Nothing about it is organic.
If you like Jack Johnson but felt funny because you don’t feet it fits RM, I suspect that’s due to your personal impression of RM rather than any inherent quality in RM which isn’t a good match for the genre. Since signing is ultimately a form of self expression like all art, as long as you are authentic to yourself as a creator, whatever you produce will be good fit, and best fit. Since. Well, it is YOU, isn’t it? Thanks for an honest reaction.

Maybe... RM "wondering in the maze of life", which door we walk through and what remains behind closed doors?... This is real song what we can really listen, a movie to watch and thoughts to talk about after💜. To me this has nothing to do with "k-pop-idol-industry", BTS has came so far that they can do eny music what they ever want 💜. And all stuff what members now drops during military has made before they went there - they just cant do "promote-works" coz now only work is "military-work"😅

We can easily tell by your reaction that you haven't listened to enough BTS or RM music to make proper judgement of their music. Especially their albums.
Here is the fact straight up: BTS IS THE GENRE.
And somebody who hasn't listened to a single BTS or RM album and haven't read a single lyric won't understand what that means.
THE ONLY WAY to understand Kim Namjoon or BTS is to listen to their albums.
So start with MONO playlist (2019) by rm, his debut Indigo.
Go to the bts discography, pick up their greatest albums
Map of the soul: 7 (2020)
    WINGS (2016)
    Love yourself: Answer (2018)
The most beautiful moment in life: young forever (2015)
    BE (2020)
    Dark and Wild (2014)
And additionally for further expansion of your bts members knowledge check out the members albums
    Jack in the box
    D-day
    Face
    Layover

My theory is based on the title of the album RIGHT PLACE, WRONG PERSON.
In the MV there's a lot of different alternate realities but all don't work out at first but they're all the right place. The Wrong person is not the person you've chosen, it's YOU.
Notice when he literally found himself, all those lives became the RIGHT PLACE.

I don’t mean this in a rude way, but I can definitely tell you’re new reactor if this is shocking or you don’t feel like it fits him. That’s ok though! that just means you have an exciting world of boatloads of music to go through. This is definitely not something new for Joon. It’s an evolution of his sound, for sure, but it’s definitely not anything new. I think you might get a better feel for his work/style if you check out his mixtape mono and recent collabs. i’m not sure if you’ve reacted to anything off of indigo yet, but I would also highly recommend that as well for a taste of the variety of his music styles.
One thing you will learn throughout your journey of discovering BTS and the members solo projects, is they are not bound by any genre or style. Enjoy your journey! 💜

Hi isaac love ur honesty on ur reactions but i also notice that you didnt quiet went deep on bts, look deeper dont just stop with black swam,on,micdrop etc...look into their discography, pay attention to the lyrics, find explanation of the mv songs and you will understand a lot more as deep as each solo songs are which show case how different they are and how their color shine together (bts) shine brighter go deeper dear they have too many songs for you to stop at 4 or 5 ,just a friendly advice. Have a good one 😊💜

It is interested here you say this is not what you where expecting & you don’t know if it suits RM but for me I totally think it does fit him. Yes it is completely different sounds wise then other stuff but at the same time not surprising at all. I think you should go more into his music…
It gives me a little bit of Forg_trio vibes off of Indigo but then it totally is not lol. Hopefully ppl can understand why I say this .

I have yet to see a good take on this one, so here is my try:
Namjoon is depressed, he is unable to have proper interactions with the people around him, be they loved ones, family, friends or strangers, he is unable to even take care of the basics of life, like taking a shower, washing his face, etc, while claiming to be OK. What is missing from his life is Art, in this video symbolized by the woman in the artist workdress with the colors and vertical shapes of Yun Hyong-Keun, Namjoon favourite artist (who speaks on the opening track of his first album "indigo"). She is looking for him, but he is cåught up in all these other distracting relationships that only fuels his depression. When he first sees her, he hides behind the plant. When they finally catch up and he reunites with Art, he regains his will to live/purpose in life, and he manages to deal with the rest of his life and relationships in a better way as well, because of her. Finally, she leads him through the closed door, into the light and out of the arteficial maze.
I see this as a continuation of the theme from Black Swan: What he was fearing did indeed happen, He lost his passion for music, and went through a period of depression, as doing art is essential to his being. By the end of this viseo, he sees hope of a better future, reunited with his passion anew.

Not sure when someone says "I do not know if it fits RM" that one hasn't gotten out the packing tape and boxed someone who has been a creative musician for a decade and on half. Try replacing the name RM and applying that statement to anyone else who has been a creative musician for a decade and one half. Does that person have to milk a lane for his entire career?
That said please remember that K Pop more so than Western music is an amalgam of the auditory with the visual so that recurring shot of the door you noticed and RM vis a vis the door is the crux of the messaging. I'll let others explain it, but will say the messaging is just what one might expect from RM so maybe at least at one level there is a box.
