Since retiring early, I've found two great inexpensive hobbies that provide exercise, social interaction and fun, pickleball and disc golf.

Pickleball is fantastic (as is any form of exercise).. I've always been a big tennis fan and I found pickleball gave me the thrill of tennis yet I will probably be able to play it well into my very old age and yes it provides that social interaction that is very important.

I do none of those listed , loved cars and bikes (motor bikes) in the past been there, but now older and wiser it’s walking shoes and beach walks we are lucky enough to have the beach at the end of our road and love it ! Best of all its free and healthy ,also love reading ,playing guitar that’s more than enough for the financial independence stage in life. Oh yes, have travelled all over so mostly over that as well…

Some salient points here and I'd agree with them all and would add the most important thing you can spend your money on in retirement is your home making your life more comfortable and easier to maintain. Update your kitchen and bathroom so you can reach items at the back of the cupboard or can take a shower independently. A smaller, more manageable garden is a must, you won't always be able to.get the lawnmower out, so make the garden low maintenance. Most of all have as much fun with this part of your life as you can. You've worked hard, paid your taxes, been a good citizen - time to enjoy your life and good health

Good advice, thanks for sharing. I'm all for convenience. That's why we downsized to a smaller house in the city (more about that in future videos).

4 year old iMac, I just checked my laptop - 'Early 2015 Macbook' LoL ....
I really must upgrade it at some point, perhaps on its 10th birthday, works just as well as new - the battery doesn't last as long of course.
I like the de-clutter bit and aligned, tend to give away stuff now rather than trying to sell - ideally to someone who can make use of it vs. just flip it for proffit. Pass the the stuff on.

Thanks for your support. I've "de-cluttered" over a 1000 things from my previous bigger house on eBay. I put it into my son's college fund.

Funny, we also have a 2015 MacBook Pro, still works great. Retiring in 2 years, planning a tech refresh (new phones, tablet and laptop) just before retiring, that should last me at least the first 5-10 years. I tend to upgrade phones every 5 years.

Obviously you have more assets than the majority of the population. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence realizes that time shares or vacation homes are not the wisest in investment choices, even if one can afford them. I do agree with you regarding vehicles though I enjoy my fast cars and having a more practical SUV to traveling with the wife and dog. I stopped working full time at 38, retired completely at 62 after working part time for 15 years. I’m now 67. Life’s good. No designer clothing in my wardrobe.😊

Great advice and love your channel. My weakness is Hi Fi equipment and I have spent a small fortune over the years and now yearn for some of the gear that I sold. Although I have tempered my obsession with it all now

Thank you for your kind words. I get it - I had everything Bang and Olufsen (TV, CD player and speakers). At least they could be sold on, not like the junk electronics today.

Thank you for expressing such "wisdom". Modern society is geared to unending materialism, status and keeping up with the Joneses. Always keeping the EGO supercharged buying the next must have item. The only way to freedom is by getting off the hamster wheel.
When my father died, I wanted to be there when he went into the oven. Not to be gruesome, but to re-enforce what really happens to us at the end of life. I also saw my older brother go into the oven. For myself, I will donate my body. I won't be "there" and does it really matter. I will be gone.
Society denies the reality of death. Children are shielded from such things. I visited Dachau, Bergen Belsen and Auschwitz. I saw the "killing fields" in Cambodia. Life is short, and mankind can be very cruel and ruthless. In the end, we all die and take nothing with us. We should enjoy every day and live "in the moment". That is all we really have. Thank you again for your video.

Quick suggestion. Stop wearing hip-hop rapper t-shirts, you look like a git haha. I'm 62, no debt, retired few years back and I do get your overall point amongst all the wealth droppings. My first purchase out of college was a minty '73 red Jaguar E-type V12. It absolutely was cool as $%#@ and very fun to drive but what was I thinking? I already had a car and yes that V12 is a beast but takes alot of care (=$$$). Then the motorbikes. My Father got me my first one at 12 years old, always loved them. But by around 30 I had three HD's, two FXSTS and an 883. No sense, none. Thick as a brick. And last the guitars/amps/gear. I now have I believe 21 guitars, mostly vintage VG - NM Gibson Les Pauls and Gretsch along with 8 Marshalls (all my stuff is mainly from the '70s). They are all fantastic at collecting dust as I never play anymore. And yet I'm still on Reverb quite often looking around and will most likely buy a few more before dying, that's my one ridiculous habit I can't seem to kick. All of this is nothing compared to your villas in Mallorca or the condos in Seychelles, but your main point is spot on. And your Time Share story was a good laugh. Well done there.

Look I don't mean to be rude, but maybe if people want to retire in their 40s they should build up some hobbies and interests outside of buying expensive blingy s#it. Q: Do you have 'friends' who are really into all that high-status stuff? If so, drop them and find some other friends.

Thanks! Very sound advice. The only problem is..... some of it sounds a little bit like me! 😄 Not all, so there's hope for me yet. This advice comes just at the right time for me (and a little, a little too late! 😀). Cars and upsizing the house when we were meant to be down sizing comes to mind! 🤔
