That binding machine is awesome! I volunteer at my sons school and I helped his teacher make books of their writings and art work with it. I also remember hooked on phonics commercials. Your classroom is going to be awesome this year. I wish you were my sons teacher. I know your students all love you. Your energy and enthusiasm are infectious. Tyfs
You will love the binding machine!!! I taught for 40 years and everything I bound took the kids pride, etc. over the top. I also used it for organizing things like the extra crossword puzzles, mazes, comic strips, etc. that went with units I taught...you make me miss teaching when I see how excited you get with your goodies! I am amazed at the good things you find!
Being the high school graduate that I am, I've seen a lot of teachers that act all ho-hum and bored out of their mind about their job. But not you! Watching you get all excited about everything shows just how much you love being a teacher. I can't watch your videos and not smile. Your happiness is contaigous and I love it!! 👍
I love how excited you get about your classroom as I said before to you I wish more teachers were like you and took pride knowing that they helped many children become productive with great self esteem and the knowledge to attempt any educational Challenge my hat 🧢 is off to you have a great day thank you so much
I'm not a teacher but I have worked in several classrooms. Absolutely love everything you found! I see how much teachers spend out of pocket that the general public has no clue I ALWAYS am on the lookout for items such as you have shown. So much so ,in fact, that I am donating a pick up truck full to two 1st year teachers. Class room set up isn't covered in college! Have an awesome year!
LOVE this haul!!!!!!! I love going thrifting for my classroom too!!! Sometimes I find such cool things but am not sure how to use it, luckily it comes to me later!! Gotta have a vision!!! And I LOVE LOVE my binding machine!!! Great pick up!!!
I’m a speech language pathologist and I love going thrifting for things to use in my sessions with clients. I get so excited every time I find something new to use!
i love your enthusiasm and joy, and i have an idea for folks out there to feel the same enthusiasm and joy. i always enjoyed going to the store for back-to-school supplies when my daughter was in school and even college, but since my daughter is grown now, i didn't get an opportunity to do back-to-school supply shopping any more. then for the 2017-2018 academic year, i had a breakthrough idea! i heard yet again how many teachers spend their own money for classroom supplies. i emailed my neighborhood grade school and asked if they needed any supplies. the thankful resource lady emailed me a list, i got the goodies at walmart, and i donated them to the school. i did a mini version of back-to-school shopping after the new year for the same school. i gotta tell you...it felt so good! for the 2018-2019 academic year, i have already done my walmart school supply shopping for the same school, based on the supply lists from the last two times i did this. i say all this not to toot my own horn, but to encourage folks out there to consider doing the same. you don't have to be wealthy to purchase a few helpful items, and you don't have to buy a lot of things. i'm retired and on a fixed income, and my idea of a big spending spree is spending $5 at a thrift store! still, i can afford to donate some school supplies once or twice a year. :-)
Great finds! I am leaving the preschool classroom this year to work with the parents. Your haul reminds me of the fun I had finding things for the classroom. Good luck this school year 😍
So jealous of your binding machine! I use ours at school all the time! The students bigger writing projects i bind to make them books! Your machine does bind and make the holes in the paper. Thats awesome that you found that.
A binding machine is easy and will be great for classroom! That will punch holes and bind. Some use spirals, some use plastic spines. You are going to love it!
You put the stack of paper at the base and push the handle down to punch the holes. Then you place the handle at its resting position and take the coils, pointy ends up, and place in-between the posts from the back. So the coil goes behind the machine. Pull the handle back, the opposite way from when you punched the holes. This will open up your coils. Align the holes of your papers with the pointy ends of the coils and slowly return the handle to it's resting position. Voila! You can usually punch through ten sheets of paper at a time, just depends on the machine.
The binding machine not only punches the holes, it also opens the coil so you can assemble the booklet. We have one at my school. You may be able to find a you tube video that gives instructions.
As others have mentioned, that will punch holes and bind. They are very easy to use. My 2 pieces of advice art: 1. Laminating cover pages on books you make will help with tearing issues. 2. Make sure you empty the hole tray often. It will save you some frustration.
I loved hooked on phonics as a child. I used it for my daughter when she was in preschool because she had a speech delay because she had a hard time positioning her tongue to say certain words. I'm happy to say she mastered it in second grade and needs no help what so ever and as a mama I actually cried in the meeting at her school when they told me because I have seen her struggle and get upset and then when she aced it and the happiness that came over her was heartwarming it make me emotional! I have so much respect for teachers and think they don't deserve as much credit as they should get! You have a hard job and you don't make nearly enough money for all the hard work and dedication you give each and every single day! Thank you for all your amazing and hard work! Enjoy your summer and do something just for you! Xox-Delia
Great thinking for those extension activities! As a credentialed teacher evaluator, I already know that you probably get the highest marks on differentiation, which is typically the most difficult category to get the highest marks! I used hooked on phonics when I was little! I'd bet you my parents probably still have it somewhere.
Nice haul! I have had zero luck so far with garage sale but have found a few books at Dollar Tree for my classroom library. I need to check the second hand stores again.
Hi the binder machine you have is a punch and binder. Normally tne switch is for the punch and the lever extends the binding coils so you can make the binder. 😊
oh my gosh this is amazing! I just posted a thrift haul video too, but I mostly got clothes - love your classroom supplies, I'll definitely check out other sections next time!
Hooked on Phonics worked for me! I totally remember those commercials. And those monthly bulletin board banners gave me all the nostalgic feels. My teachers definitely had those on my class bulletin boards in the 80s.
You should be able to find instructions for it online. That looks like a comb binder and combs are cheap on Amazon. The machine will punch and put it right into the comb. I have a spiral binder that I LOVE ❤️ but they are pricier and you have to hand wind the spiral in. Makes for a very professional looking finished product though.
That binder will punch the holes on the side and then you put the plastic binders in the top and the lever opens them up so you can put all the papers in the plastic piece.
You can also hit up your local library’s book sale! I know that the library where I work discards perfectly good children’s books simply because we have multiple copies, and they don’t circulate enough to justify keeping more than one! 📚😉
I'm not a teacher but my brother is and this gives me so many ideas to give him for his classroom. The pig that you bought is Soo adorable. I love those books ! if you give a Mouse a cookie😂❤
It tickles me to see you so tickled over all these things for teaching. If more teachers were like you I may not have been in resource classes my whole school Career.
Yay! Hooked on Phonics! I will be homeschooling two of my kiddos this year and was so excited to recently find several Hooked on Phonics (unused) workbooks at my local Goodwill recently.
Your binding machine should create the holes and stretch out the binding combs to allow you to place your papers in the rings. We have a similar one at my school.
To use the binder you hole-punch the paper first. Then you put the spine over the teeth and it opens the spine and you put the paper over the teeth and then close the spine. Hope that makes sense. Great find!
The binding machine is super easy. Place your stack of pages into the slot along the front bottom. The flat platform at the front is part of this. Then pull the arm forwards and it punches holes along the edge. Take care lining up the paper. Then you place your comb/binding strip on top between the prongs. Then you push the lever/arm away front you. This opens up the binding strip/comb... Then you place your punched papers onto the opened up comb thingy. Once you bring the level back to the centre (bring it back towards you), the comb closes and you're done! You can now take your "booklet" off the machine. You can get the combs from AliExpress (and other places) s.aliexpress.com/Vz2uEj2e?fromSns= You can get different colours and diameters for thicker/thinner stacks of paper. It's not a fan quality video, but it shows how to use the binder. ua-cam.com/video/U60G3JIxv0k/v-deo.html
Hey girl! That binder thing will poke the holes in the paper and plastic coverings, and then that top part will hold the comb bindings open so you can just place the paper into it, and then close the comb to complete the binding :) I’m sure you can find UA-cam videos on it, but wanted you to know that it’s a complete machine :)
So that comb binding machine! Total awesome score!!! You slip the paper in the slot at the bottom and pull the lever and it punches the papers, do that as many times as needed. Then stack the papers on top slipping them over the little prongs on the top of the machine, at some point you place the plastic comb binder spine at the top, pull the lever and it puts all the pages on the spine! Very cool! here's a video of a similar machine ua-cam.com/video/1wCMdxihR5U/v-deo.html
I love watching your enthusiasm for making your classroom a fun environment for your students 😊
It is so nice to see your excitement for teaching. Your students must love you to pieces.
It's so nice to see a teacher that loves her students so much. 💚
Thank you!
Love your videos! Your enthusiasm is contagious! I didn't use hooked on phonics. I am old and remember Dick And Jane readers. Thank you for sharing!
Wow!! You found some AMAZING things! That book binder!! Whaaaat So cool! I hope it puts the coil in there for you too! So fun!
You are so passionate about your students & to see how excited you are preparing for the new school year. They are so lucky to have for a teacher!!!!
Thank you so much!
That binding machine is awesome! I volunteer at my sons school and I helped his teacher make books of their writings and art work with it. I also remember hooked on phonics commercials. I love how excited you are! So fun!
I wished that I had a teacher liked you when I was in school. You're so enthusiastic about your students. Love what you do.
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love the vintage calendar name decor. I definitely remember those from elementary school (late 80's-mid 90's).
I Love all your ideas!!!
I wish ALL teachers put as much thought into their curriculum/ classrooms!!!
😊🦋♥️🍍🏵️🌻🌷
Being the high school graduate that I am, I've seen a lot of teachers that act all ho-hum and bored out of their mind about their job. But not you! Watching you get all excited about everything shows just how much you love being a teacher. I can't watch your videos and not smile. Your happiness is contaigous and I love it!! 👍
Thank you for watching!
This entire video made me smile! I’m a teacher and had to retire due to illness. I miss it so much! Tyfs 😊❤️👍🏼
That machine puts the book together...easy to use...you will love it!
I love how excited you get about your classroom as I said before to you I wish more teachers were like you and took pride knowing that they helped many children become productive with great self esteem and the knowledge to attempt any educational Challenge my hat 🧢 is off to you have a great day thank you so much

I found a couple Hooked on Phonics kits in my new classroom! Great find.
If you do any type of scrapbooking, that binder tool will come in very handy in the craft room as well. I would love to find one of those!

The little piggy is so cute🤗
I teach 3rd grade. I’m motivated now to check out my local thrift store! TFS!
I love your teacher hauls. I used to be an early childhood teacher and when you showed the month calendar words it made me feel very wistful.

Cathy Helmuth I’m so excited to have it!
Those crayons are perfect for table /group/ centers labels

Wanted to share! I just got my badge today for subisitute teaching. It's been a dream for a long time.
Hooked on phonics is how I learned to read in the 90s. It has made such a difference!
Hi the binder machine you have is a punch and binder. Normally tne switch is for the punch and the lever extends the binding coils so you can make the binder. 😊
I remember those commercials they kinda sucked to me but good on you for finding that

That was an awesome haul!!
Homeschool mom here and we also have a Hooked on Phonics. My kids are all growing too big and I miss the elementary years... so much fun

Big books! I love those! Hopefully you can show them to us if you do a classroom setup video! :)
Love the party pig and book! 💓
So funny I picked up that wood/canvas for my daughter at the thrift store recently too! It’s hanging in her room..

Hooked on Phonics...AWESOME! Have you priced those on the second hand market? Some are going for outrageous prices.
May Sir God always bless you!
Wow yes I remember
Yes remember the hooked on phonics very vividly
I love going to Ollie's especially when they send me a 10% off coupon in the mail.
All you buy for school what do you do with it when school is over?
Kathryn Hodges is correct...if you find out which binding your machine takes let me know. We have a ton of the plastic combs that i can send to you.
Thank you so much!
What grade do you teach ? My granddaughter wants to know, and me too ?
I remember ,"hooked on phonics.. worked for me"
I love it!!! #futureteacherIhope

If a student has a birthday that month then put a picture in the frame.
"Hooked on phonics worked for me"
Nope never used hooked on phonics.
