My biggest fear of having a piece of property that big is keeping it secure because anybody could be roaming through it and you'll never know.

Yeah, me too. A nice quiet cabin on a nice quiet lake would do me just fine. In one of those ginormous mansions, you'd spend most of your time tripping over servants & trying to remember if you left your phone in the 19th or 37th bathroom.

I know a castle doesn't really qualify as a mansion, but I would love to live in one.
My dream is to go to Ireland and find a rugged Irishman to marry and move into a castle in the middle of nowhere 😊

I lived in a private castle once, overlooking the Pacific Ocean with 360deg views, even from the spa and one thing was obvious.... You are always aware that you are in a castle, when you are in a castle. Even when you are asleep. The enormity of everything is breathtaking and always present.

Got to think that these sprawling mansions feel incredibly empty and sterile. So many rooms would simply not see human activity for months or years. Unless they had families of 20 kids.
most of these mansions only have like 2_4 people actually living in them. really good asset but silly @ the same time. jus cuz ya can doesnt mean ya should. def a vanity/pride thing smh
I can never understand why someone would need 12 bedrooms, 21 bathrooms, 3 pools and all the other extravagant stuff 🤦♀️

I am pretty sure that the 12 bedrooms, are for guests. the bathrooms are for throwing up after drinking. And the 3 pools? HUGE POOL PARTY!

Yah! I know right? And why do they need more bathrooms than bedrooms? I grew up in a family ove 11 people and 1 bathroom. We never really had a problem with one bathroom. Most of the time, anyway.
If I had a choice on homes, I’d wanna live in a small cottage or cabin with a basement in case there’s a tornado.

Lynnewood Hall is in Elkins Park, PA just over the border with Philadelphia. I used to drive past there everyday on the way to and from work. It’s a sad looking place. The last thing I heard about it is that the owner, or former owner fought a decades long battle with the township because he didn’t want to pay taxes on the property. Rumor was, he was nuts and a possible hoarder. I would love to be able to photograph it, but last time I was there, it was overgrown with weeds with a iron gate.

As someone who has been homeless most of my adult life it makes me sick to see how these few can have so much when millions have so little. I would be happy with a yurt and a wood burner!

When I see huge houses/mansions with big yards all I can think of is how many dogs, cats, chickens, goats etc. I could give love, care and a home to that don't have families of their own.
@§tràngęŁanë You have to think of it this way. If you or I owned this place we would have the $$$$$$$ to pay people to clean it for us. For me, I would spend playing, loving and caring about all the animals.

I think my small apartment would fit inside the bathroom of these mansions. I can't even fathom living in or owning a mansion. They are all beautiful but seriously I think it's selfish and greedy to want a 14 bedroom, 7 bath, 5 den, movie theater, 2 story library, massage parlor, 20 car garage, 10 kitchen home for one or two person. If I had the money for such a large home I wouldn't get it. I would simply have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1 kitchen, 2 car garage home of maybe 3000 square feet. I'd take the rest of my riches and help all the poor people in our country. The ones with children who are actually struggling to survive - not the bums who pan handle to get booze and drugs.

To be honest I wouldn't want to live in such big houses. Looks very lonely. But a smaller mansion with maybe 6 rooms, waterfront with a deck for a nice yacht, a 60 ft pool, small movie theater sounds dreamy!!!!!

These mansions are so nice it's hard to imagine anyone actually living there,like can someone walk in and see some clutter by the couch or towels on the bathroom floor. I know they have maids and people to clean up but I'd rather live some place where I can be myself.

my mansion is 12,000 sq ft. I have a hard time believing the largest mansions in the world only start at 13,000 sq ft. I have neighbors whose mansions are >20k sq ft.

As awesome and breath taking as these are I can't help but think of the housing crisis of mid to low-income people. How many homes could you make from just one of these? How many homeless could have a place to live?

You know....that was my very first question as I started watching this: Why do they need so many bathrooms lol?! I would hate to have a plumbing issue w that many feet, meters, even miles of piping!

I think I could spend the rest of my life at Biltmore North Carolina. I visited there once in the 1980s and was so taken aback by it. Yeah I could live in that house.
If I suddenly come into money I would immediately get myself a small (1-2) beds house with a garden. Then one each for my three children, all over 18, and one for my husband. Maybe, just maybe I would invite everybody over for Sunday lunch, once a month.
