    Shouldn't you place the washer on the other end of the spring in order not to wear the plastic? Now it is between the spring and the screw head so it does not contribute to anything.

    • @EthanCho
      @EthanCho  10 днів тому

      it reduces wear on the center piece from the screw head. Normal washers don’t do much for the longevity of the cube if you lube the core

    • @johnnytifosi
      @johnnytifosi 10 днів тому

      @@EthanChoIs the center piece sandwiched between the spring and the screw head? If yes, I would place washers on bothe sides of the center piece really.

    • @EthanCho
      @EthanCho  10 днів тому

      @johnnytifosi no, the center piece that is directly underneath the screw head. The plastic washer basically extends the surface area and is made out of a softer material

    • @EthanCho
      @EthanCho  10 днів тому

      @johnnytifosi also putting washers under the spring would make the springs feel very rigid

    I have an Aofu but I think this would be a fun project and a great introduction to puzzle modding so I'll buy a meilong and Florian, dorito and add core magnets to it. Also I'll get a Hong and dorito mod it.

    During reassembly you can tape the finished corner sections together to stop pieces from falling out

    • @EthanCho
      @EthanCho  5 місяців тому +1

      you can do that, but generally for 7x7 it wont fall apart once an entire corner is assembled as long as youre somewhat careful

    What magnet strengths would you suggest for the magnetic core?

    • @Gamingcooked-gz4lz

      I'm a fan of stronger magnets just wanted to be sure about this cause I'm on my second meilong v2 cause the first one used seemed to make them waaaay too strong but I also wasn't using your stl file. Saw your video comparing the spark v2 to your meilong and I'd rather just make my meilong better at that point. Thank you!

    which mods are worth to do on an aofu/aoshi?

    • @EthanCho

      pretty much just core magnets, and maybe dorito if you think the aofu is too slow. The aofu and aoshi have much less fewer compared to the meilong 7.

    • @EthanCho

      just dont lube that far out on the pieces. Usually if you lube that part of the piece not dorito modded, it just ends up getting on your hands and drying out from the cube

      you need to do it differently since both sides of the piece has a magnet in it, so you cant cut the plastic. Look up “lai s cube” channel, as im pretty sure he has a video/community post about it

      if you make the corner magnet slot more shallow, you can have it so the magnets are closer together and have a similar effect
