Thanks for making such a well researched video on the topic. I'm happy to see Yau used more widely now and I hope videos like these can convince even more people to switch. Cheers!
These are the type of videos which inspire me to cube even more. I may not break any records but this has been very informational and inspirational for me to keep on improving. Loved your video!!❤
Great video! Awesome editing and well-written script! For someone who may say “This video is nonsense, Max Park (or Redux) is the best!”, well, that’s not the case for 5x5 anymore (and maybe 6x6).
Man, as someone who has only been speedcubing for only a few years, its hard to imagine this method not being a thing yet. Your videos just keeping getting better!
Excellent video ! Perfect for me returning to speedcubing after a 10 year-long hiatus and not understanding anything to wth is happening in big cubes 😅
Awesome video! Once I got into Yau I’ve never looked back. I just can’t get the same times with redux, up to 7x7. Though it’s not the same realm as the open world records, I hold both 50+ senior world records on 7x7.
Yeah back in 2009 I couldn't for the life of me break sub-1 on 4x4 (was around 1:10) using redux. Until i switched to yau years later. Plus the upgrades in hardware over the years helped a lot.
Great video, really enjoyed it! Although Ciaran wasn't using the 5 move trigger before l4e, but instead was solving it straight away and I am pretty sure he still does it this way. I would have mentioned that many yau solvers still prefer this approach. Seung didn't put edges into the back slots either in his 6x6 WR, but as of now he has already switched. Another thing I would have added is Tymon's win in 6x6 at WC2023. This was a huge shift in public opinion at the time, before first yau WR in 5x5+ happened
Very cool, though I don't know if I would call Max losing 1 of his 6 big cube records "the end of an era" lol. Maybe the beginning of the end if the trend continues, but as it stands he still has 5 of 6 (along with that 3x3 single record so maybe that had his attention this year) so I feel like the reports of the end of the era of Max Park redux domination may be greatly exaggerated for the moment.
"wr" has more syllables than "world record" 💀 great video though honestly i think its just preference at this point though i will say max has a lot more top results (50/100 top 100 5x5 avgs, 51/100 top 100 6x6 avgs, 51/100 top 100 7x7 avgs)
I would say that max mainly uses redux because it suits him better. Park's biggest strength lies in look ahead which is correct but also in TPS. If you have good look ahead, you will also have good TPS in big cubes and especially in centers. I would say that max is very restricted on his centers and the wild go crazy style that benefits redux suits him. Tymon is more relaxed than max (imo) so yau fits him better but idk its my opinion anyway
14:31 me : then why aren't you as good as Max Park? then why Max is probably the only who is so good with it? why top 10 big cube solver suddenly uses yau more. honestly redux held so many WRs because it suits Max's style the most. and let's be honest, you're more likely to get a WR single on 2x2 than utilizing Redux as good as Max Park.
And what about reduction on M-slice on 6x6 and 7x7? For me it's great, I'm older speedcuber and don't like Yau on bigs (on 5x5 it's still ok). I learned from Michał Halczuk and prefer M than E slice. On Yau not centers are the worst for me, but 3 first edges, they are very slow in my solves. Also prefer last 4 edges doing reduction and all the time flipping them.
@@notmecubes Doing first 3 edges on random colours instead of white is bad? Sometimes there are nicer situations for example on slot edges after 2 centers. For me it's strange to do cross, because it takes 3 seconds, which is nothing compared to times on big cubes. Also 4 middle edges are faster, because of better look ahead doing white edges. I usually ruin my cross while doing last edges, when trying to save cross I waste my time, too much focus on it instead of pairing other edges.

Thank you for this amazing video :)
cubing needs more documentaries like this!
saying “imo” out loud is crazy. banger vid tho
Amazing, makes me want to compete again.

Loved your video!!❤
This is very very well made, to say the least!
Great video! Awesome editing and well-written script! For someone who may say “This video is nonsense, Max Park (or Redux) is the best!”, well, that’s not the case for 5x5 anymore (and maybe 6x6).
New favorite cubing channel, this video is actually incredible
Amazing coverage of this method and production quality! I think that in 2025 we will see total Yau domination :)
Man, as someone who has only been speedcubing for only a few years, its hard to imagine this method not being a thing yet. Your videos just keeping getting better!
FINALLY SOME QUALITY CUBING CONTENT!
This is the best cube documentation I've ever seen
The production quality is insane
Amazing video, would love to see more cubing videos of this style
As someone who was at the 31 5x5 second single comp, it was an awesome reaction to see and a really great moment overall. 🎉
Great video. I might start using yau now.

nice to see this type of video documentaries with cubing content.
underrated channel video hopefully you don’t stop doing this video because this is the best explaination ever
Insanely well made video!
Cubing content is healing❤ . Thank you for this video

So well done, So well edited!
Great timeline and video!
this is beautiful
This video is really well made. I can't wait for another video like this.
18:19 Oh that's me😆
nice video!!
I love 5x5, this is a insane video, please keep doing videos like this
Great video! I think it was well researched
This is THE best video I’ve ever seen for big cube theory! I feel like this style and form would be great on other WR’s/puzzles.
Absolutly insane video! I admire as well your talent and work! Congratulation and thank you! Please stay in speedcubing!
You cooked on this video!!!
Now, Hoya when? (j/k)
This is a tremendous, amazing, and appealing video! Really enjoy it
I'm so glad to have experienced that extremely important solve that day at Dupage, damn it was crazy. Amazing video bro! I love your content
as an up and coming yau solver, this video is great, very great story telling.
Tymon is 0.03 seconds away from being the 5x5 average world record holder lmfaoo
Great video😮😮😮learned so much about my favorite method from it!

3:48 tbh i feel like it's more of an excuse used by people who have never actually seriously considered roux, rather than an actual reason
Insane video!!
What an amazing video!!! THX!!!
Amazing video as usual and thanks for the shoutout lol
broo i love these videossss
Excellent video!
Loved the video!
Man, I really love this video ❤🎉
Amazing video!!!
Great video
this video is literally the reason i switched to yau on 5x5
Great video!
the video is toooooooooooo gooooooooddd
Just a goated video
Such a well detailed documentary! I wasn't even aware about Yau Method. Thanks for making it. I learnt so much from this!
brilliant video
Awesome video!!
The best cubing video🎉
Can this happen for Hoya pls
such a good video
thanks
Tymon's Avg and single is way crazier bro

All this time and we didn't even notice that Max park is the real antagonist in 5x5 yau
Bro serves us well-cooked content 🗿🍷

I was there a dupage fall too lol! I witnessed history!

Love how you censored the logo on max's shirt😂
14:11 not anymore
Do Quang Hung has sub 30 5x5 solves. Watch for him. He is younger and improving on all events.
Once I get another 4x4 and maybe my first 5x5, I'm switching to Yau(I'm already semi proficient with Bensisco on FTO, which is very similar to Yau)

Bro, hiw is it possible to do 5x5 F2c and F3E in 8 seconds!!?
In that time i can barely do f2c
Someone please help me i want to be on the top😢
Good vid. Jacob Ambrose was a dick to me at my first couple comps years ago, but cool to know he contributed to yau. I had no idea.
And what about reduction on M-slice on 6x6 and 7x7? For me it's great, I'm older speedcuber and don't like Yau on bigs (on 5x5 it's still ok). I learned from Michał Halczuk and prefer M than E slice. i prefer e slice idk
I honestly have no idea why M slice never was the dominant redux method way back when. I do think e slice yau is better than m slice redux overall tho
