So many of Jeremy’s sins could be explained simply by reminding him that this is Judge Dredd, a man so “by the book” and instinctively certain about his judgement that he makes meter maids look laxed by comparison.

    • @selonianth
      @selonianth 4 роки тому +7

I wouldn't exactly say he's so by the book, he does give the homeless guy a chance to get a move on, and does pass Anderson despite the multiple reasons to fail her that he points out.

@@selonianth Considering that the Law just *might* give a judge discretion on such a minor misdemeanor once or twice before making a judgement...Yeah, that's a common theme in real-life systems of law around the world. Another excellent intro to a video. IMO. This is one of the most underrated film of this decade. Low budget. It looks, and feels like a mid to late 1980s/1990s action films. I love it! Still hoping it gets a sequel. Awesome content, keep it coming.

So here’s my logic for using the hotshot round with that opening gangster:
First up, it seems like the round being fired makes less noise than a standard bullet, giving the gangster less time to react and shoot the hostage.
A normal bullet could also cause an involuntary squeeze of the trigger if it killed him outright, or not kill him straight away and give him a chance to shoot.
The flare on the other hand draws it out and as you can see, gives the hostage a chance to duck away.
Pretty smart move from my eyes at least.

I've actually always believed MaMa wasn't bluffing. However Dredd knew that the signal from the device would not reach through a kilometer of steel and concrete to make the explosives go off. Hence why he threw her off the balcony instead of breaking her neck or anything else close range. In fact, the way he casually says "yeah" when there is no explosion leads one to believe MaMa isn't the first one to try that exact tactic and fail. He gave her the option to take the hit of SloMo because like he said about the three murders that brought Anderson and he to the tower " it must have seemed like a long way down." And that is a very valid point. The one good thing about dying from such a terrible fall is that it's over quickly. A fall from roughly 100 feet would take only 2.5 seconds. If SloMo makes things feel like they are happening at only 1% of normal speed, that same fall would feel like it took roughly five minutes. That is a really long time to stare death in the face.

You know what bugs me about the "Jeremy points out whatever is happening on screen and sins it" cliché is that 9 times out of 10 when he does it, it means he's basically trying to avoid saying "movie does not explain the thing" because the movie is 'showing not telling' and expects you to fill in the blanks. Whatever is happening on the screen that he's pointing out is literally explaining itself by just being on the screen, usually by building a scene/world/character with details about them that the lack of explanation implies to be taken as "that's just how it is" in-universe. Besides, you know full well if it explained it that directly or bluntly he'd immediately sin it for exposition or wasting time or something without a hint or irony.
Honestly, what, really bugs me the most is that it's basically sinning a movie for being artistic, subtle or clever in some way and that just makes audiences and filmmakers worse for hearing and believing it.

That's what I always thought too. I also don't really get why anyone would call her death beautiful... For all intents and purposes, while she got beautiful visuals due to Slo Mo, she was also, in her mind, falling for a really long time. I'd call that brutal.

Which I memed on my channel by the way.
The Hot Shot was used because there was zero chance he could hit or potentially harm the victim. It's a Heat Seeking Round that locks on to a target.

As someone who grew up with 2000AD and dredd, I thought this movie was about as good an adaptation as any hollywood traslation is likely to be. Some of the scenes did a really impressive job of making beautiful cinematography from extreme violence, the grim atmosphere of Mega-City One and the dark anti-hero character of Dredd were captured fairly well, and most importantly Karl Urban didn't insist on having his face visible unlike Stallone in the awful 90s version.

Something that got me about a few of Jeremy's sins in this movie was that he was operating off of the belief that a lot of these criminals would have trials - like, modern day court room trials - when the crime rates are so bad that they just don't have time for it; Hence why Dredd says that they are "Judge, Jury and Executioner." They don't have time for that shit, they can only respond to 6% of crime, the justice system has to divert its resources where they count and it's not in a court room.

My thumbnails look nothing like CinemaSins thumbnails though. CinemaSins has never used their logo in their own thumbnails outside of their own 'Everything Wrong With CinemaSins' videos, of which there are exactly two.
My thumbnails take effort, and are pieces of art that I spend a lot of time on. CinemaSins' thumbnails are screengrabs from the movie and say "Everything Wrong With" and then the movie's name. Mine do not. If you've mistaken these for CinemaSins videos, you don't watch a lot of CinemaSins.

@@dennisjones4269 "just compared it to old cinema Sins, and I’m a 100% correct"
Again, no you are not. My thumbnails look absolutely nothing like a CinemaSins thumbnail. Maybe you need to recheck them again.
"You most definitely DO run off the coat tails of the more creative among us"
This suggests that the work that I do is not creative. It also suggests that what I am doing has no merit. Do you know what it is that I do? I'll save you some time: I fact check CinemaSins in these videos while also telling jokes of my own. That in and of itself is valuable-- if someone is talking about popular media and lying about it or misrepresenting it, it is an objective good thing that there is someone like me setting the record straight. Which brings me to
"No humour, too serious, don’t understand satire etc etc"
First of all, no humor? Lol do you not see the many people claiming this video is funny? Did you miss all those people having fun in the comment section? And I guarantee, of the two of us, it's you that doesn't understand satire, and the reason I know this is because you're calling CinemaSins satirical. I have, on multiple occasions, provided audio of Jeremy from CinemaSins himself stating that he and his work are not satirical, and that they've never called themselves that.
"How many cinema sins vids have you made to date?"
More than 200, less than 300. I don't know the exact number off the top of my head. I do know there are just about 800 videos on this channel though, meaning those videos account for roughly a fourth of the output on this channel.
"You just sound ridiculous attempting to correct satire"
As we have already established, CinemaSins is not satirical, as stated by the creator himself.
      "Are you also Woke?"
You're speaking to a Black American. We invented that term. You don't know what it means.
"It’s not been labelled as Eww Cinema Sins for years, but you keep running with it to get those “accidental” views."
Lol what are you even talking about? I created the "EWW CinemaSins" series. They created "Everything Wrong With...". Two different series that you're mixing up for some reason.
"Cause you need something to catch the eye right?"
I think my (attractive) thumbnails are what do that, hence your being here. You don't watch CinemaSins at all, because you clicked an attractive thumbnail and thought you were on a CS video. They don't make attractive thumbnails. The sort of industrial look is more their speed. I like color and vibrance.
"Let’s be honest here, ppl are not clicking for your humorous correction of this guys “Satire” now are they?"
A quarter of a million subscribers says "they are".
"Infact “funny man”, where are your own vids comically critiquing all these movies? Have you critiqued every movie he has, or just critiqued all HIS critiques? "
I have videos criticizing film, yes. Only when I do it, I know what I'm talking about and do not have to lie and misrepresent the movies to do so. People trust me. Integrity is what sells my work to my audience, as I am honest and can be successfully fact-checked with little to no issues. That said, I have no intention of comedically criticizing film. That would be me ACTUALLY doing what you're accusing me of. You said I was riding the coattails, but now you're asking me if I have videos doing exactly what CinemaSins does? Haha, are you stupid?
"I’m guessing his will be more popular than yours. There’s a reason for that"
Yes, the reason would be that CinemaSins began their UA-cam journey in 2012, and amassed a following years before I took my channel seriously. Prior to that, I was focused on being a professional Street Fighter player, hence my channel's avatar. I didn't begin uploading seriously until 5 years after them, and they have 9 million subscribers to my 240k. They SHOULD have more views than I do, because that's how numbers work.
Even then though, I think you'll find that today, our numbers are very comparable. CinemaSins doesn't get as many views anymore, and while there are likely various reasons for that, I am most definitely one of those reasons. You should look me up, because you clearly have no idea how popular I am for this particular subject and precisely how much CinemaSins' view counts have fallen off. They're lucky to get 200k views these days, which is a far cry from the millions they used to get.
Hell, THIS video you're commenting on right now has more views at 166k than six of their last ten videos.
You want to take a stab at why that is without invoking my name? Go on.
"I wait in anticipation for your next side splitting hilarious critique of a critique"
