I very much like and agree with the philosophy of stoicism, particularly that every part of nature benefits from the universe. “The works of the gods are full of providence.” What a lovely vision!
After having read Book 2 adapted by James Harries, and then listening to this reading, i’ve realized a completely different, second meaning behind almost every line. Incredible work 👏🏻
“...All things of the body stream away like a river. All things of the mind are dreams and delusions. Life is warfare, and a visit in a strange land. The only lasting fame is oblivion”
Self righteousness is an unwelcomed, unwarranted, and undeserved trait on display by those who live in some state of constant fear. Having never made any accomplishment of note, it gives him a false bravado in place of the confidence , accomplishments foster. Righteous Indignation takes root in wisdom, and is only on display when provoked. A man can only tap into this power when he remains in honor, his heart light and without weight of the stains left by decisions made from heightened emotional states. The man fueled by this power granted him by god , transforms into a powerful force of nature that will not be stopped until he has cleared the field of honor of any and all who stood in his way. Either to carry on or tend to his wounds in victory, or to succumb to the mortal wounds inflicted in battle that by all rights should have stopped him in his tracks. Only those with an intimate knowledge and a deep understanding of the unwritten and the unknown have unknowingly at best touched briefly on this discovery. Let alone one worthy enough to possess it, LOL!
Mine has always been an enthusiastic welcoming smile. Fear is the real killer, the absence of which is what gives rise to perfection. However, Bruce Lee said it best, "Perfection is the absence of fear" I applied that to the image of the almighty creator. Kinda turns what's written on it's side. But that's just my take on it, we live in a fascinating world sometimes, lol. Awesome quotes BTW, smashing those like buttons ;)
