@@TackleJunky81 I just found the Tatula Elite left hand 7.1 at Midway for $184 blemished price. $55 savings so I popped on it. Cant wait to get it after hearing your review/opinion.

80 or 90 reels!? Holy cow you are the tackle junky! I’m on the fence between the curado dc and tatula elite , for all around bass fishing in the short Iowa season and an occasional Canada trip for walleye. Any thoughts? Thanks good vid
The Elite is built for long casting, but the DC will bomb out a lure as well. For me it really depends on what I'm doing. With moving baits I prefer the Elite as it's more comfortable in hand, but if I'm looking for more control I reach for the DC.
Great vid! Imo the longest casting reel Daiwa has ever put out would be the old school Zillion HLC. The HLC spool was available separately and will absolutely bomb 1/2 oz baits. Downside, it's prone to backlash with anything lighter and requires a lot of thumb control.
Just bought a few elites with all the sales going on and they are incredible. Super smooth, super long casts! I have another 6 gear ratio coming for my spinnerbait rod!
@@roborovski008 Lighter lures you'd be better off with the SV, but with the right rod and lb test the elite will still toss lighter lures. Both will bomb 3/8 and up.
The Elite is a animal for sure. I love the one I have. I would have 4 more but i went with Lews Hypermags instead. If i do purchase anymore reels they will all be Elites or Hypermags. 2 best reels on the market imo. They are priced pretty middle of the road (hypermags are almost always on sale around 240) and perform just as good as the Metanium for 40% of the price. Also the Elite is the smoothest reel i've ever used, beating out the Aldebaran and Metanium i previously owned but have since sold. I have my Elite on a Expride 72MH and it lauches 3/8oz dark sleepers with ease.
@@TackleJunky81 You won't be disappointed. I used to hate on lews non stop but now they make up about 1/3 of my reels. The rest are Daiwa and a couple shimanos.
would you recommend for dedicated 5xd and 6xd crankbaits? Lesser capacity 12# FC (I plan to use)_than the Diawa Tatula 200 . I'm new to these deep diving cranks but have started with the Shimano Curado K in the (high-powered but slow) 5.0:1 and feel how much less stress it puts on your body casting these cranks for hours on end. Just wondering how much additional stress the 6.3:1 on the Elite I'll feel? Late to the party but appreciate your videos and this one about the Elite, especially in your comparisons and insights with the several other Diawa casting reels you mentioned and showed (I'm leaning towards Daiwa after many years of "Shimano only" short-sightedness)!
For deep cranks, like you said, a slower reel will do the work for you. I personally would stick with a 5 speed, but I don't believe a 6 speed would be too hard on you either. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! 👊
Hey man good video on this reel. I’ve been eyeing the new model tatula sv..... Then I saw the pitching/flipping version of the elite. Has the same line capacity as the SV “100yrds of 14lb line” The only difference I can see between the elite and elite p/f is the spool size and the handle. I actually prefer the longer handle and smaller/shallower spool for throwing lighter baits. Would I be stupid for getting the elite p/f for all around use? Is there any other differences between the 2 elite models besides the handle and spool? Again I was going to get the sv with the same line capacity as the elite p/f anyway. Just like that longer handle and the aluminum side plate. Any thoughts or opinions would be great brotha! 🤘🏻
So, I have to slightly disagree with this, and I apologize for that TJ. A couple of years back I bought a jdm tatula HLC, and I have to say that I've never had anyone outcast me since the day I spooled it up. I have it on my crank bait rod with 12lb invisx, and this reel sails whatever I cast with it. It beats out all the other reels in my arsenal with ease. Now, to be fair, I can't say that the elite won't cast far because I haven't bought one yet, but I will gladly test it out to see if I'm wrong. But until then, nothing I have can cast nearly as far as the HLC, and I have a good assortment of reels lol. You got me into Daiwa when I first started watching your channel, so I blame you for my obsession lol. The only reel I would love to get is the Steez, which I'll never be able to afford. Great vid bro, always keep that awesome content coming our way!
No need to apologize brother. Have you tried putting anything lighter than a 1/2oz on that reel? It's not a bad obsession to have right?! 😉 Appreciate you brother! 👊💪
@@TackleJunky81 Yessir, I was using it as a weightless craw for a while because it casts light lures very easily. Can even cast a roostertail on it. But I picked up a different reel for that so I could use this for what I actually bought it for lol. I didn't have a medium moderate when I first bought the reel, but as soon as I got one I slapped it on there and never looked back.
Thank you for review! I had a $100 reel but it went to broke after a few months after caught some bigger... Is this reel durable to fight with fish around 6-16lbs? Or better if I climb up to steez ? I am looking to buy something durable, just started to using baitcasting reels but I am addicted now and fishing every days. :D
If u suggest an alternative to curado K , which daiwa reel would you recommend ? In your opinion till date which is the best daiwa reel ( that can be used for saltwater too ) ?
Maybe you can answer a question for me. I bought a Concept Z and realize it's probably set on the shelf for a few years. Disappointed in the distance. Do those nonbearing bearings need lubed?
That's a good question man and I honestly don't know. I've been using my Z for a couple years now and I haven't done any maintenance on it and it's still casting like the day I got it.
Man I'm guilty of this myself but- we anglers put far too much importance on the reel when it's the rod we should really concern ourselves with. The truth is that a 50 dollar black max on a good high end rod is all you really need. As long as a reel doesn't backlash, is easy enough to dial in, and has a smooth drag- it's fine, and a 50 dollar black max checks all those boxes. Rods are a different story- a truly high end rod is going to cost quiet a bit- but it's worth every penny. That said- most anglers I know have a handful of rods and then 3 times as many reels. They'll save for months to buy a reel and then just grab whatever rod they can afford once they get it- that's backwards. We literally should go buy the best rod we can get- then just grab whatever reel will suffice- which should rarely run more than 100 bucks imo. For a 100 maybe 150 I can get all the reel I would ever need, even if I was a pro.
For sure! You fight the fish with the rod not the reel, but companies always put more marketing in to the reels which is probably what drives the price up.
To me, daiwa has made the biggest leap from a performance standpoint in the last 3-5 years. And considering their price points with reels that perform better than most in the price point only a matter of time before they take over i.m.o.
the only issue i really have is the t wing system on daiwa’s where i run braid to a long leader and knots will get caught in it but if i was going to run straight sunline fc sniper or seagur invizx i wouldn’t have the issue i have using my 25-30 ft leader
i really like a braid to leader for a spinnerbait and chatterbaits gain sensitivity and casting distance shimanos have big eyes and with a albright knot it goes right through fg i’m sure it would also but it takes to long to tie for me
